WEEK 2

WAKE UP, GET UP, GET OUT THERE.

Saturday rolls around and characters may see that there are notices from Mina, saying that everyone will be taking a trip at noon sharp on Saturday, and to have their weapons. Whether characters pay this heed or not, they will in fact hear a ding from their phones at noon, their screens glowing a sunset red with the word "TRANSFERRING..." the only thing to be seen. And then, just like that –

You all enter.

The new world before you can be described in one word: twisted. It doesn't feel great, but it doesn't feel extremely awful, either, depending on how you look at it – it's a distorted version of the already grim city that you've been brought to, and you are specifically in the shopping district. Everything seems to be darker shades of red, yellow, and purple, if you can see it through the haze ominously floating about.

That feeling of something stirring in your chest seems to grow stronger, more potent, burning with the desire to be let free…

…and you, all of you, are surrounded. Various monsters and demons are threatening to attack you, looking at you like you are their prey. That's because you are…but you don't have to be for long. The moment that you engage in battle with them, no matter who strikes first, is the moment your emancipation begins.

Welcome to your awakening.

You feel a surge of energy rush to your palm – for some, it burns like a fiery blaze. For others, it sparks with electricity; perhaps wind circles around it, or a mysterious frost begins to blanket it. Maybe you have a mysterious pink aura around it, or a bright turquoise light; a dark, sinister glow or a calming light. Whatever the case may be, it drives you to place your hand over your heart.

You latch onto something. It is not your chest, it's not your heart, but it's something deeper than that, something from your being. You pull, you drag it out, and there is no bloodshed or any sort of pain, only a very bright light and some struggle as you unearth what is within. You finally, finally feel free as a new part of you literally stands before you. Say hello to your new friend: Your Persona.

Your new skills feel intuitive, and you feel like you can navigate them well enough to at least try to survive. You don't need to question how or why you understand them just yet; all you need to do is let yourself experience your power, and you'll stand a chance.

And with that, it's time to fight.

(Note: Weapon attacks will always deal Phys damage, but Phys spells will naturally do more than just whacking enemies with your weapons. Go wild, dodge, parry – combat is more freeform here than it is in Persona, so play this out however you'd like.

Furthermore, you'll be able to see everyone's cool Personas! You just won't be able to really interact with them directly.)

After the battle, there's the sound of a whistle. Turn your heads towards the source, and…huh? A cat?

"Alright, newbies, it's time to roll out."

…And it talks???

She says it with a scowl on her face, and soon, she leaps up – poof, and suddenly, there is a cat train in front of you. Weirdly enough, this cat is the one driving it. How did she summon the train…who knows.

"Get in, unless you wanna get your asses kicked!"

And sure enough, she's right, because there seem to be more enemies flocking towards you. She will drag you all in whether you like it or not.

SAFE AREA.

And, after a quick ride on the cat train, you find yourselves back at the dorms! ...Kind of. Much like the rest of this alternate world, it’s distorted in shape, though there’s none of the haze you saw when you first arrived. It seems this area, at least, is safe - characters would be wise to note it as a location to base any Nekyia operations out of in the future.

Mina is also here! She looks, quite frankly, relieved to see everyone show up alive in the train. The train, by the way, is gone, because it seems like your mysterious cat friend is now back to her…first…form? And seems to be on her way out. Back to Mina, though:

Welcome to the Nekyia - the world of the unconscious. As you can see, the unconscious version of the city is, um... Very, very messed up. The more commissions you complete, the more connections you forge, the more bonds you repair, and the more Shadows you take out will help return the Nekyia to normal - and with it, the real world!

The people of this world don’t have the power to summon Personas... You’re the only ones who can save this city from the influence now. So please...

Help me fix this city from the inside-out!”

Mina has also set up a folding table set up with divinity cookies and water bottles from “Ambrosial Water Co”, judging by the labels. Characters who partake in these proffered snacks will find them rejuvenating - literally. Using a Persona’s abilities takes spiritual energy, but these snacks replenish one’s energy to full again with a single bite or sip. Any characters who want to try venturing back into the thick of the Nekyia today are free to take some with them, but do take care! Mina is only providing snacks for today, and after this characters will need to monitor their energy levels on their own.

Characters with further questions may ask Mina and she will do her best to answer! You can also try to catch the mysterious cat from earlier, too.

To go back to the real world, all characters need to do is press the "RETURN?" button on their phones. Much like the "TRANSFERRING..." message, this is the only thing on their screen.

All phones will now have a Nekyia app that will enable them to come in and out of the Nekyia at will.

1. Technically, if characters no longer have access to their phones, they can't leave Nekyia, right? Or can someone else perhaps steal their phone and force them to get ejected out of Nekyia instead?

2. Do monsters and demons just vanish when they die a la Shadows from usual Persona games or do they bleed, become corpses, etc?

[ The cat can be found lounging around outside of the dorms, gaze sharp on whatever's in front of her. Upon closer inspection, there's nothing. Maybe she always looks like this... ]

Fuyu is assuming that this is the same cat that sat with the miscellaneous items the other day and chucks a dog plush at it. ]

i - this man has never played video games before

[ Okay, he can do commissions and killing monster part, but forging and repairing bonds? That's not his thing. Leave it to the others. It'll be fine. Anyway, he's dressed more like a normal person today with a bow, nocking an arrow that seems to glint at Hua Po in an attempt to snipe it. However, the arrow gets reflected back at Fuyu, getting him in a nonfatal area in the torso.

You know what? The raincoat would have been great, because he just bought these clothes. Fuck. He's not taking out the arrow. It can stay lodged in his body for now. He's also on fire. That's nice. (no) ]

ii - no slacking

[ If you look tired, sleepy, or hungry, Fuyu will be passing by to cast a Me Patra (cures Dizzy/Forget/Sleep/Hunger) because he assumes that you got hit by a status. His clothes are bloody (again) and a bit singed. ]

Get back to work.

[ Yi Sang will use his personal skill Rain in Motion to dash forward attack Hua Po with a Curse element attack. Ah, it is not resisted, thank goodness It also happens to summon a brief shower of rain... and something else on Yi Sang's back? ...Nah, must be the rain. And Coco's creativity! ]

Sayaka would like to go one day without having to worry for her life. Really, that's all she wants! One simple day! But at the very least after getting home from her first day at work fairly early, she's aware of what's going on--girl wakes up at 4am for funsies, she's got some time to mentally prepare and try not to scream, but...]

wake up

[...She thankfully doesn't manage to scream, but needless to say, there is one girl very much clutching her knife like a lifeline again and trying very valiantly to not have an anxiety attack. And she's succeeding! Mostly.

Sayaka sticks pretty close to the group, and needless to say, the strange itch of something wanting to awaken in her, and as the monsters close in, Sayaka feels herself tense up. Planning someone else's murder had seemed so easy on paper; being prepped and ready to kill, to do anything for her dream, it seemed so easy at the time. Everything in Sayaka is tense, and she wonders briefly if she would've had the guts to go through with it at all.

But something sparks in her. Maybe you're getting attacked unnoticed. Maybe a monster's just a little too close. But either way, Sayaka tightens her resolve and starts to rush at whatever's coming at them--]

Stay away from them!

[Perhaps it's fate, that Atropos awakens along with Sayaka, as Sayaka brandishes her knife and all but tackles the monster as she attacks. Sure, she's quite weak even when she attacks, but she somehow manages to strike true. (roll: 18)

...Of course, once she's actually managed to stab the monster--who isn't quite dead, Sayaka has to back away for a moment as she looks down to what she assumes is it's dead form. Her eyes are wide and quite frankly she looks like she's gonna be sick, but--

She at least spares a glance to the person she's managed to protect, and despite everything, she manages a shaky smile.]

...You--are you okay?

[...She admittedly, does not notice the monster is not quite dead yet but that'll be a problem in a few moments--]

[...Yeah, so after all of that, Sayaka is. Admittedly going to be off to the side again, but she's just kind of going to chew on the treats provided, and one might see the slightly silly event of Sayaka attempting to offer Atropos one of those treats. It...admittedly does nothing, and if one squints the Persona may be giving Sayaka an odd look. But she's. Trying.

Either way, Sayaka will be at least a little more amendable to checking on others, and you may find her grabbing some stuff for you and approaching you, especially if you don't look like you have anything--]

Are you going to be okay? I imagine that must have been a lot to handle...

So at any rate, Sayaka's favorite past time is cooking. It's one of the biggest things she can do for others, and having gotten her commission payment, Sayaka has gone on a little bit of a shopping spree to grab groceries for the house. One might find Sayaka in the kitchen preparing a nice big batch of curry! She's very hard at work, though she seems pretty distracted...

Though, if you catch her attention, Sayaka might look to you for a moment before tilting her head a bit.]

Hey, could I borrow you to taste test something for me?

[Eventually, you will find the curry and some nice rice set aside with a sign from Sayaka--

[ Oh, that was a close one. He hadn't noticed the monster (Anzu) had been that close, and when Sayaka saves him, he gives her a tired but grateful smile. Damn, she can fight, huh... ]

[ Oh, it's not dead yet, though, and it looks ready to get its revenge on her, specifically. Tenn's eyes narrow and he pulls out his gun. King Pudding turns with him. ]

Stay down.

[ He uses Virtual Angel; he and Sayaka will hear a series of fan cries for Tenn, specifically. His eyes widen at the cheers, and he aims right at the monster to shoot it for Electric damage (11). ]

Don't touch her.

i. wake up, get up, get out there

[ A girl's out of her depth here. Next to the fighters wielding their weapons like a pro, Ai's got the confetti cannon she'd been handed to protect herself with and she has it clutched to her chest as she backs away from the monsters. Eventually though, a monster goes for her or she sees it going for someone else and she takes aim. A pop can be heard and there's a spray of confetti.

It...doesn't do any real damage but causes a pretty distraction. Confetti in the air. Confetti in your hair. Confetti everywhere. ]

Oh...hehe...

[ The monster is still alive and growling. Help. ]

ii. into the cat train

[ Ai's piled into the train with the others and is sitting in a seat, one hand clutching her heart. That was frightening! After a breather, she starts to take notice of the people around her, especially those with injuries. ]

Are you hurt? I think I've got something to help.

[ She presses her fingers to her temples. Give her a moment to get into her headspace again. ]

[ Or she may lean in, voice hushed and awed, to chat with her seatmate on this fantastical cat train. ]

Was that a talking cat? It feels like we're in a movie!

iv. day to day life / wildcard

[ Ai can be found wandering the town directionally challenged, taking up modeling gigs, or in the dorms eating cheap take-out. You might also catch her looking wistful and attempting to text on her old phone. She's anxious to know how things are at home. ]

[ Cool. Now he's bloody and confetti. His expression looks so dead when he looks over at Ai. Girl. What the fuck!! ]

If you can't fight, do that bonding shit instead.

[ But not with him, seems to be the implication as he relentlessly stabs the monster with a serrated knife. ]

It's quite curious. Kirumi is very alert, but she doesn't seem scared. More...uneasy than scared, really]

Kandata.

[Most would expect a Persona to appear right now, surrounded by blue lights, to deliver an attack on that Anzu flying there. Instead, the blue glow that indicates a Persona pop around Kirumi herself, and Kirumi jumps towards the monster, tackling it and then swiping with her axe right at its body, the blade of the axe slicing through it. When it vanishes, leaving Kirumi alone, she's a bit puzzled.

She turns her head to look at anyone who might be nearby]

Did you see my Persona?

[Kirumi is attentive enough to see everyone else seems to get these figures separate from them, attacking the enemies. Kirumi seems to lack that, for some reason? Instead it looked as Kirumi herself did the Lunge attack.

Downtime

Oh, look! There are a couple lists around. It's posters, elegantly drawn with resources from the welcoming party. Near the entrance of their communal spaces, there's one that says: 'Please inform me if you need anything done today. All requests accepted as long as they are deemed possible. No particular restrictions. Kirumi Tojo.' There are strips of paper for you to tear from it so you get in touch with Kirumi.

In the kitchen there's one pinned to the fridge, too. 'If you would like a specific plate, please write it down here. It will be delivered during the next meal. No restrictions.'

Looks like Kirumi is open to receiving work. Her immense talents, versatile as they are, are available for everyone]

[ When Kirumi asks if he saw her Persona, he glances over at her with a frown. ]

No one cares about what your Persona looks like.

[ He thinks she was asking in a "did you see my persona and how cool it was", but. Anyway, he shoots off an arrow, dealing fire damage to the demon. ]

Demon dispatch
[Anyone who's met Izou is probably not surprised to see him having a jolly old time cutting down demons the old fashioned way with his sword. At most, they might be slightly concerned that he's laughing as he does?]

Die! You think you bottom of the barrel demons are enough to take on Okada Izou?
[As he cuts through another, splattering himself with ominous black goo the monsters shed instead of blood. Even with his exhuberance, anyone who knows even a little about sword technique should be able to see that Izou is extremely skilled with his blade.]

I could take all you on with my eyes closed! Ahahaha!!
[That said, all his shouting is attracting the attention of plenty more demons. It might be wise to help him out.]

Persona Problem
[Once they're back at the base camp, Izou is taking a well earned break slouched in one of the chairs, munching on a divinity cookie. His persona, Medea however keeps hanging off of him, arms draped around his shoulders from behind, only for him to try to swat her off.]

Oi, woman, I keep tellin' you ta keep offa me and put on some damn clothes! 'Least that damn snake has the decency ta dress herself before she goes clingin' to Ryouma!
[Shouldn't it be easier to get along with something that's effectively himself? You'd think.]

[ Well. His "other self" is apparently a scantily clad dressed woman, so he has no idea what to do say to that as he witnesses this spectacle.

He quietly notes Izou who might have a secret exhibition problem. Yes, he's staring. ]

it's easy being a magical girl...again

[ Falin had her staff close to her chest; being unable to use her normal magic made her a little bit weary to try to go anywhere. However, the thought of other being hurt, especially some of her new friends, she couldn't stand. However, once she realizes that she is going to be in a fight, that's when Falin realizes that she was at a significant disadvantage...

or was she?

When the enemies approach, at first, she tries to back up. It was almost muscle memory, but there was no Laios to jump in and go after them in front of her while she supported. Shaking her head, she knew she couldn't rely on those memories, those people, those feelings...When that thought crosses her mind, a roar erupts from behind her and her hat flops off her head as she turns.

Behind Falin was the red dragon, but it's eyes were not filled with malice...they were filled with the same determination that she felt. With a smile, she immediately put her hand out automatically. ]

Bon Appetit!

[ Some of the enemies are swallowed up by a ball of white light, then spat out after a moment. She laughed as she pet the dragons head when it leaned down. It was a relief to see something from home. ]

I guess you're here to fight too!

once a healer...

[ As people are being transported, Falin is tirelessly coming up to others and giving them a quick heal, especially in groups. She is taking everyone's hands immediately, preferring her usual norm of touch to heal them. The dragon is only occasionally appearing as she heals, looking only slightly menacing behind her. ]

Now, don't overdo it, you need to rest your body even if your wounds are healed. It's important to keep your energy up!

[ However, it's clear she's starting to slow down. Perhaps someone can convince her to follow her own advice. ]

Once a Healer

[Kirumi is grateful for the healing! And it's because of that gratitude that Kirumi tries to give Falin a divinity cookie. Take care of yourself too!]

i. big battle, big eepy
[ did it have to be at noon...?

frieren is at the edges of the group at all times during the start of the excursion, looking two steps away from dozing off, staff in hand. this lasts throughout their transportation into the twisted nekyia, into being surrounded by enemies. just another taco tuesday.

sleepy battle instincts kick in, and frieren raises her staff. she only needs to fire a single zoltraak, so her hand goes to her chest (hm?) and-

-and, the treasure chest with teeth that she summons is notably not zolktraak, though it's enough to get the job done. it lunges, repelling a nearby monster. not what she mentally mapped out, but fine. it's good enough. ]

Mm, okay...

[ give her a couple of moments, she'll develop a sense of urgency soon (she will not). she's at least capable of providing cover fire if needed, half-alive or not. ]

ii. a spell for flowers
[ finally somewhat awake but still not shaken at all, frieren decides to use their break time to cast spells. well, spell. one spell. she's at the edges (always the edges) of the safe space, as pink and purple plants surround her, disappearing after only a moment.

she looks at the space where the plants sat. bites on a cookie. ]

Only this one, huh...?

[ Fuyu casts Me Patra on Frieren. No sleeping allowed. ]

[Now this is what Fray is meant to do. Sure, he's had a not-so-great showing in sparring, but holding back when your weapon is bigger than you are is pretty damn difficult. So now he's in his element, swinging that massive sword around with ease to eliminate the weaker monsters and put a dent into the tougher ones. Sometimes literally, given that massive greatsword he's wielding.

But when he draws upon his power to summon his Persona, Fray hesitates, staring at it in a combination of confusion and awe - and he takes a moment longer than he should to snap himself out of it and return to fighting. If you're one of the non-combatants thrust into this situation, he's certainly going to be focused on keeping you safe. A particularly close call with one of the monsters and Fray turns to you.]

Are you unharmed? I can heal your injuries.

[It isn't the healing magic he's used to, but he innately knows that he's capable of healing.]

safe zone

[Fray retreats further away from the others in the safe zone immediately - he has some questions for his Persona, and he's very intent on asking them... although the Fallen isn't exactly helpful in his answers. A towering figure in full armor, he's even quieter than the Warrior of Light and offers very little information. Still, Fray seems to have reached some level of understanding with it, as he dismisses the Persona and returns to join the others only to deadeye the food and drink. He is still refusing to take his helmet off around everyone, so this is great. You can catch him at either point, though he once again seems like he's just going to hold up the walls at the latter. Thanks, Fray.]

real world

[Shame that Fray can't just hang out in the Nekyia the whole time, because he would much rather be fighting for his life than pretending to be a normal person. Oh well. For now, he heads back to his shared room with Sayaka where he finds one familiar cat and a few unfamiliar items. The cat's off before Fray can even call to her, so with a sigh he goes to examine what's been left on his bed.

...And he really wishes he hadn't. Why is there a life-sized cardboard cutout of Argenti. Why is this a thing. Who allowed this.

Fray deadeyes it for a long moment before sighing and picking it up. Actually, he'll take the art supplies too...

Later on, you can find him in the dining hall. There's a totally unrelated life-sized cardboard cutout of Argenti now sitting in the corner ominously, but more importantly, Fray is hard at work on... something? It looks like he's doodling, which seems very out of character, but there's a purpose behind his doodles of moogles.]

Help me make something for the goddess. I've heard this may be a way to speak with her.

[...So yeah, it's arts and crafts time round 2!!]

Dining Hall

Certainly. How may I help?

[Doodling...oh, could this be why there were art and crafts available at the welcoming party? It was an offer of some sort to the goddess all along? More reason to assist, then! She wants to know more]

1. Safe Area

[ Well, wasn't that something? McGillis is a trained soldier and further accustomed to making quick calls in unreasonable situations, so he takes to Persona combat like a fish to water. Anyone who's watched him fight has seen him call forth a ferocious giant wolf and might have heard him call out the name 'Fenrir!' to command him.

Now in the safe area, he looks perfectly calm and barely out of breath. Nothing of the unhinged bloody man that arrived here is left. McGillis as he is now is meticulously styled and extremely level-headed. He has even obtained some business casual clothes in place of the Hawaiian shirt he wound up wearing for the first two days!

Catch him by the snacks, turning over a cookie in his hand thoughtfully. He looks darkly amused. ]

So the other shoe finally dropped.

[ That was more to himself, but noticing someone nearby, McGillis will turn to whomever approached. ]

I wonder how those 'Personas' were picked.

[ (Feel free to answer either of this thoughts, or just note his in-depth observation of that cookie.) ]

2. Dorms - Garbage Pickup Day

[ It is the early morning of designated garbage pickup day!! McGillis is always an early riser, but today he is an early riser with a purpose. The purpose is carrying out a big plastic bag containing what some may recognize as the bloodied pilot suit he was wearing on arrival. That's going out into the garbage, baby!

But it's not the only thing he's carrying. Once he's put the bag down, his focus goes to the metal mask in his hands. There is a bullet stuck right in the forehead of it. McGillis looks at the mask, frowning. And looks. And looks.

.... you can probably find him here for about half an hour, standing in front of the garbage and staring at that thing. ]

3. Dorms - Floor 2 Showers - At Night

[ McGillis has never been seen showering during the daytime. Or early evening. Or when anybody is using the showers at all. But if you happen to be a weirdo who goes showering on the second floor sometime past midnight, you might catch McGillis in there and you'll be able to wager an easy guess as to why he's not keen on being seen shirtless in public. There's a big coffin-shaped black metal box implanted in his spine.

Noticing someone coming in, McGillis tenses up briefly but then accepts his fate. No need to try and cover up his back like some blushing maiden. He just gives a slim smile and a nod in greeting. ]

I'm surprised anyone would come here at this hour.

[ Also McGillis is extremely muscular, if that's a thing your character would be interested in, I guess. ]

4. Wildcard

[ If you want combat shenanigans, come at me for those, too! I'm not doing a prompt for it, but like. McGillis has a gun and a big-ass wolf, what more do you want from life! Alternatively if you have daily life ideas, hit me with those as well!! ]

A. FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT

[Every single part of this is a shock, from suddenly being transported to yet another world to being surrounded by Shadows to, yes, summoning her very own Persona - whatever that is, Aubrey's not exactly read up on Jung. Still, the name that echoes in her mind is clear enough...]

Jade Rabbit!

[The Persona doesn't much resemble the round, domestic rabbits, but a scrawnier wild one, in spite of its white fur and bright jade-green eyes. Of course, there's only so much resemblance it can take to creatures from reality, because this rabbit stands to about Aubrey's shoulder even without accounting for its ears, and is also wielding a pestle like a sword and a mortar as its shield.

Barely moments after being summoned, the Jade Rabbit lunges at the nearest Shadow, practically pile-driving it with the pestle.]

B. Break Time

[After giving the talking cat a suspicious side-eye, Aubrey will help herself to a cookie - mostly so she can, in fact, literally Dia herself back to full health.]

...This would have been useful a week ago.

[ Eli starts off their surprise dunk into another realm — world or reflection or whatever this is — surprisingly well. He's on the ball, slapping down the very first pixie that gets too close even before the burning urge to rip something from his chest sets in. When that does set in, however... a red aura burning at his fingertips...

He resists it for as long as he can. Being surrounded by demons is familiar, but so, too, is the sensation of losing control, and that is what it feels like to him. So, he resists for as long as he can, right up until he finds himself cornered away from the group by demons and finally struggling to hold his own.

He isn't strong here. He isn't. What is he supposed to do?! He doesn't even remember slapping his hand to his chest, over his heart, and pulling. He doesn't understand, but he will soon enough.

A great red-furred hound comes roaring to life, ripped from Eli's own chest. Garm tears through the demons in a heartbeat, though behind him is left Eli, who has staggered back and tripped, landing hard on his rear.

He's left staring at the hellhound, wide-eyed and not in a good way. That? That came out of him? That's... that's a... ]

...a demon... no, that... it can't...

[ Of course, even with Garm's arrival, the way Eli has frozen up only attracts twice the amount of demons their way as before. It looks like they could use some help. ]

[ So, Eli choked up, he choked up hard, all when his Persona first made his appearance. How embarrassing. Panicking like some little kid, freezing up, being useless, and a demon of all things, being his partner here? In this awful place? Yes, it's now awful. Everything is awful. He can't stand it.

Which means he'll be sitting it instead! Er, which is to say, he's sitting over in the farthest corner of the dorm's common room as he possibly can, sulking away in a chair, hunched over and staring angrily at the floor.

He has "no talk, i angy" vibes for sure, but that doesn't have to stop anyone who wants a word with him. ]

[ This man is neither charitable nor a hero, but he comes across this sort of scene anyway and thinks it would be a shame if someone relatively fighty was lost when they need all the help they can get to erase all these monsters and demons.

So Fuyu summons his own Persona, Bakunawa, metaphorically drags Eli into his party, and casts Me Patra (Cure Dizzy/Forget/Sleep/Hunger of party). Even though whatever he's experiencing now is probably not a status ailment from a monster, it serves as a wake up call. ]

Get to work.

[ Anyway, he gets out a serrated knife and stabs a Hua Po to death. Yes, he's taking a bit of damage. He keeps stabbing anyway. ]

I. AWAKENING

[He hadn't really understood what was happening at first, when he found himself surrounded by flying creatures of all types. Some humanoid, some not, all of them hostile enough that Hiiro didn't even hesitate to get into battle position as soon as he sensed their presence. He hadn't gotten a good look at them immediately, instincts kicking in before he had to, so he hadn't truly understood the magnitude of the issue at first.

That is, until they all attacked simultaneously.

The rest was a blur. The spark of electricity in his hands, the instinct to reach to his chest, and the rest was history.

A large hare dressed like a soldier appears behind him, dodging at the same time as he does, rolling on the ground before he gets on his feet with his fists poised in front of him in defense.]

Follow my lead!

[Was he talking to you, whoever ends up in his vicinity when this happens? Nope, not at all.

Immediately he summons three balls of electricity that seems to surround him. Or, well, they originally seemed like balls, but closer inspection will reveal three little figures, all poised in the same pose as him. That's when you might notice that one of those monsters? Changed targets to you. That's when he notices it too, and chased after it, his electric fairies and the hare all throwing their arm back at the same time as he does as he jumps and slams a fist into the winged creature, before he looks at you.

That's not going to be enough to keep it down.]

Run! These things are dangerous!


II. CAT TRAIN / SAFE AREA

Whichever location it is, Hiiro slumps into the nearby chair, exhausted. His stamina was pretty high normally, but between fighting unfamiliar beings (most that fly! he didn't train enough against flying opponents!) and running away and prioritizing their safety, he was tired. It's really only here that he seems to have realized what was going on.

Look, he was kind of distracted earlier.]

So... Just what is going on anyway? Is this why we are here?

[So the other shoe has dropped, huh? The world has become dark and twisted and there's a buzzing in his head, a thrumming in his veins that feels awful and exhilirating all at once.

The adrenaline before stepping on stage.

The railing of his beast against his mind.

The twinge of panic in the face of danger.

Everything in him is telling him to give in, to step over the edge, to trust in instinct and muscle memory and action over thought, and yet he continues to stand on the precipice, unwilling to throw himself into the void beyond.

Nothing like a hard shove to send you over the edge.

An Angel swoops in. There's a bright flash of white light. Celeste himself is knocked back, tumbling and skidding over the ground.

Red and black energy pulses as he gets to his feet, hand to his chest. Already airborne, wide silk ribbons wrap tight around the Angel. A spotlight falls on her.

The moment he pulls his Persona forth from his chest, the ribbons unravel, whipping the monster to the ground and leaving her in a quickly dissipating, crumpled heap, spotlight fading along with the ribbons themselves.]

[Even the dorms are distorted, too? Sure, he supposes that makes sense, to a point, but... the initial fighting had been rough, and if it was constant from now on, it'd no doubt get to be exhausting.

But their little RA is waiting for them, with snacks and waters, and, while he does doubt that they'll be any good for him, he does dare to try one of the cookies and--

And he feels... fine? Not like he's going to immediately have to find a corner to vomit in?

Anyone watching him will see him immediately brighten up and look at the rest of the cookie in his hand like it's just worked some kind of miracle.

While back there, he seems to be going through what his persona can do, because eventually he starts talking to himself.]

[ A knife can do a lot, even if one chooses to wield a normal one. For example, there's a Hua Po that Fuyu is relentlessly stabbing with his own knife while taking damage, because you kinda have to when you're facetanking. His clothes are a bloody and singed and there's no doubt that this encounter will make that worse, but he's still here, eventually finishing it off. ]

[ Grace can be found in the safe area with Ham-tron, her lovely little Persona that she is extremely excited about. Ham-Tron's got a yellow and pink ball that stands about six feet tall, and the little hamster poking out of the top is... dressed like Grace... complete with matching wig. What a cutie!

Unfortunately, Grace realizes pretty quickly that there are limits to Persona engagement when she launches herself at her new buddy, expecting to be swept up in a hug and instead faceplanting very gracelessly under the mechanical crab legs... Oops.

No matter! Maybe you saw that or maybe you didn't, but either way, Grace is spending the afternoon coming up with some cool team poses and dances so she and her little hamster are... extra in sync!!! ]

How's this look? We need a cool celebration dance for when we kick some monster butt!

[ Behold: Grace and her hamster boogying to Grace's... let's call it beat boxing, sure. The break dancing bit at the end is more Grace just spinning around on her butt, but she can pull of those SICK MOVES in her heart, which is why Ham-tron's rendition is flawless 10/10. Her wig only falls off once! ]

[ A little later in the week, Grace spends the morning at the Temple of Braphine. She's been a beacon of sunshine and positivity since she first arrived, but she's more subdued as she sits criss-cross applesauce on the floor in the sanctuary. The table has plenty of room at it given the temple is nearly empty, but she's not sure she's allowed to sit there. She's got a few spools of colorful thread in her lap and seems to be weaving something with a little circle of cardboard.

She's concentrating pretty hard on her work, but if she notices you pop in, she'll look up and give a small wave. Come join her! ]

1) Getting Out There

[Yuri is no stranger to battle, but this feeling, this power welling within him, that's different.

His hand exudes a cool mist as he reaches over his heart. And as he tugs hard, out from his body leaps forth a massive figure that feels familiar even if he's never seen him before. The two exchange a knowing glance and leap into the fray, each of them blowing back monsters with the impressive force of their fists.

Should an ally be in danger of taking a particularly gruesome hit, Yuri will be there to tank the attack with ironclad determination. Be sure to thank your tank, people! (And maybe heal him, too.)]

2) Safe and Sound

[Bottle of water in hand, Yuri sits in a corner of the distorted dorm. While his energy levels remain high thanks to the beverage, he appears quite a bit banged up from the fighting. Whether this is actually bothering him or not is up to interpretation, however.]

[His little electrical buddies may be able to mimic his moves perfectly, but they're also just pretty much three little balls of electricity and not the most powerful additional hitters. Hiiro's punches might be even stronger than theirs, though theirs had more bite.

In any case, he's been fighting for a while, and he's not used to things that can just fly out of his reach so often. He was getting tired, and being tired means being careless. So when one of them finds an opening to attack, it goes right for it, and Hiiro didn't have enough time to defend himself especially when the little soldiers all disappear right after use.

So imagine his surprise when someone jumps in and starts to pulverize them in his place.

It gives him enough time to breathe, surprised still.]

[The other shoe has dropped, after an incredibly peaceful week, and Jeno is at the middle ground between surprised and everything unfolding as expected. He certainly wasn't expecting that he would be tasked to fight with the Origin in an entirely new way, but the winged bodyhorror abomination (complete with swords piercing through the ring and into the largest eye) is about how he would have expected it to look. It is something found by the True Order, after all, and it will take more than that to unsettle him.

Killing shadows is a mindless endeavor, and Jeno—despite what he may have told a few people—can hold himself in a fight. He dodges with an acrobatic flair, making the best of the unfamiliar weapon in his hand. He misses his magic more and more each day, but the abilities of this Persona are handy enough... even if they're geared more towards rejuvenation and protection.

Except unlike most other utility folks, he's not offering free heals and debuff cleanses. You'll have to ask for that. What he's more concerned with is very simple, and he approaches with the usual blank expression on his face, a water bottle in hand.]

The options for snacks here are dire.

[He doesn't eat sweets and he just needs to complain at someone, but Mina deals with too much for him to be a cunt to her when she's doing her best. The Origin hovers behind him, eyes on everything around him.]

First are the necessities for his (still unnamed) pigeon, and the rest he spends on a sketchbook and some nice quality pencils and a small watercolor palette.

He can be found both perched on benches in the city or in the dorm, en plein air painting or doing sketches of the people around him. Yes, that includes the other Persona users and Mina. Pay him five bucks and he'll even draw you! (JK....... unless?)]

and yet he doesn't. he can't. if it were once again an attempt on his life or a pack of wolves after him, he would gladly turn his heel and find the best place to hide. an animal's instinct is to prioritize its survival above all else, after all. by all means he should be running, but with so many people, he simply can't! he knows he has to help them! ]

[ calling out to get the attention of a demon that was sneaking up on someone, he stares it down as it instead chooses to rush towards him, fangs and claws bared to tear him apart. and once it's in his range he inhales, takes a calculated step forward and—

thrusts his arm forward against the demon's chest, placing an open palm punch on the creature's chest. it's enough to send the creature flying.

he does, however, seem to be very unaware of the persona behind him. more important is to make sure that the others are fine. ]

[ in the safe room, soujuurou tries to keep himself busy. he's probably been running himself ragged trying to do as much clean up of the area as he can, but even he knows that he has his limits. he's currently sitting down, sipping from a bottle of water. ]

Water really is important, isn't it. It's no good if we get dehydrated.

3. real world.

[ other than that, you can catch soujuurou in the real world doing...well, average things. he's doing commissions and working part time jobs (which we can make up on the spot tbh). he can also be found in the dorms, especially very early in the morning (think 5 am) as he does his daily workouts or later at night as he's trying to prepare some sort of dinner or brewing himself some tea. ]

i - nekyia nights

[ Fuyu has never really stopped going to Nekyia to kill more Shadows, and perhaps his efforts are finally rewarded, because he feels stronger with new skills to use. It's great, because now he can finally stab Hua Po's without taking a single injury. This is a vast improvement on quality of combat (life).

That is, until an Inugami comes in and inflicts Confuse on Fuyu from a distance. Luckily, he won't have his knife on hand at that point, but instead, he wields a bow and arrow. Bakunawa appears behind him every time he shoots--the arrow is extremely durable and deals fire damage. He also boosted his own attack with a buff. Be careful! That said, you can choose to get hit or dodge, and where you get hit. ]

ii - sunshiny days

[ Ushirono Fuyu is a rude, callous man who sets his standards high. However, there comes a time when even he gets tired. He's usually seen doing commissions or tutoring kids after school, but he's sometimes seen in a cafe with a composition notebook. It's full of so much text and diagrams and he takes another sip of his coffee. He sits by the window so anyone is free to spot him. He doesn't look as cranky as he usually does, so that's something. ]

[Being from JRPGland means that confuse status effects are nothing new to him, but that still doesn't mean he enjoys having arrows fired in his direction!! So he's just going to take a moment to deflect that with a wind-imbued sword before doing anything else, although the heat from the projectile will still get a little too close to his face for comfort.

Anyways, this is a bit of a shit position to be in because he: a. doesn't have a skill that clears status effects and b. has no useful items that would help. Which brings us to why he's aiming a Magaru at both Inugami and Fuyu, because one of them is weak to wind and the other... maybe he's just pissed because the arrow, who knows.]

Week 3

1. Creature Comforts
[ McGillis has been going through the motions. Despite spending a decent amount of time talking about the fact of his own death, he'd emotionally set it aside in a little box to never be opened. He'd gotten himself back to his feet, and pretended there was still a sense of purpose guiding his steps. But that's just not true - as far as he knows, his original world is lost to him. And even if it wasn't, it'd still be a world in which he'd have to start from zero - worse than zero, truly, as his reputation would not precede him.

His lifelong ambitions are smashed and instead of burning up in the wreckage, he's here. Standing in a Legally Distinct Walmart.

The disconnect is enough to drive anybody insane. Currently the insanity is manifesting as buying four bags of chocolate ladybugs with the gravest expression anybody has ever seen. Maybe he's even in the mood to be a little more Honest about his various miseries - or sugar consumption.

Alternatively, you can find him windowshopping. He's currently eying a cutesy purple floral teaset with a thin smile. ]

[ CW: the tea-set prompt will lead to discussion of child marriage. Nothing untoward has ever happened between McGillis and his child wife, his feelings for her are wholly platonic - but she is only 11 years old and I totally understand if you don't want to thread about that. ]

2. Violent Delights
[ McGillis does return to the Nekiya from time to time. It's not out of a sense of duty towards Braphine, no matter how she raised him from the dead. It's just that the Nekiya is a convenient location for letting out his frustrations and feeling like a person again. Being in Sunset City feels like being confined to stasis, caught up in the sludge of a daily life that does not belong to him. By applying violence, McGillis feels like he can reclaim a sense of momentum even if just for a moment. (And he's aware, far too aware, that this is an illusion caused by adrenaline. That he's just playing into Braphine's hands. But else can he do when he feels like going out of his own skin?)

Visitors to the Nekiya can find McGillis making short work of the demons he encounters. Watching him makes easily apparent that he's a resourceful fighter who is not afraid to make use of every tool available to him, conventional or no. There is a manic quality to the way he moves, and sometimes when Fenrir gets a very good hit in there's a matching grin on his lips, all bared fangs. (Metaphorically. He has normal human teeth.)

You can either approach him mid-fight (he won't appreciate it much) or when he's on his way back to the safe zone, visibly exhausted. ]
