WEEK 2

WAKE UP, GET UP, GET OUT THERE.

Saturday rolls around and characters may see that there are notices from Mina, saying that everyone will be taking a trip at noon sharp on Saturday, and to have their weapons. Whether characters pay this heed or not, they will in fact hear a ding from their phones at noon, their screens glowing a sunset red with the word "TRANSFERRING..." the only thing to be seen. And then, just like that –

You all enter.

The new world before you can be described in one word: twisted. It doesn't feel great, but it doesn't feel extremely awful, either, depending on how you look at it – it's a distorted version of the already grim city that you've been brought to, and you are specifically in the shopping district. Everything seems to be darker shades of red, yellow, and purple, if you can see it through the haze ominously floating about.

That feeling of something stirring in your chest seems to grow stronger, more potent, burning with the desire to be let free…

…and you, all of you, are surrounded. Various monsters and demons are threatening to attack you, looking at you like you are their prey. That's because you are…but you don't have to be for long. The moment that you engage in battle with them, no matter who strikes first, is the moment your emancipation begins.

Welcome to your awakening.

You feel a surge of energy rush to your palm – for some, it burns like a fiery blaze. For others, it sparks with electricity; perhaps wind circles around it, or a mysterious frost begins to blanket it. Maybe you have a mysterious pink aura around it, or a bright turquoise light; a dark, sinister glow or a calming light. Whatever the case may be, it drives you to place your hand over your heart.

You latch onto something. It is not your chest, it's not your heart, but it's something deeper than that, something from your being. You pull, you drag it out, and there is no bloodshed or any sort of pain, only a very bright light and some struggle as you unearth what is within. You finally, finally feel free as a new part of you literally stands before you. Say hello to your new friend: Your Persona.

Your new skills feel intuitive, and you feel like you can navigate them well enough to at least try to survive. You don't need to question how or why you understand them just yet; all you need to do is let yourself experience your power, and you'll stand a chance.

And with that, it's time to fight.

(Note: Weapon attacks will always deal Phys damage, but Phys spells will naturally do more than just whacking enemies with your weapons. Go wild, dodge, parry – combat is more freeform here than it is in Persona, so play this out however you'd like.

Furthermore, you'll be able to see everyone's cool Personas! You just won't be able to really interact with them directly.)

After the battle, there's the sound of a whistle. Turn your heads towards the source, and…huh? A cat?

"Alright, newbies, it's time to roll out."

…And it talks???

She says it with a scowl on her face, and soon, she leaps up – poof, and suddenly, there is a cat train in front of you. Weirdly enough, this cat is the one driving it. How did she summon the train…who knows.

"Get in, unless you wanna get your asses kicked!"

And sure enough, she's right, because there seem to be more enemies flocking towards you. She will drag you all in whether you like it or not.

SAFE AREA.

And, after a quick ride on the cat train, you find yourselves back at the dorms! ...Kind of. Much like the rest of this alternate world, it’s distorted in shape, though there’s none of the haze you saw when you first arrived. It seems this area, at least, is safe - characters would be wise to note it as a location to base any Nekyia operations out of in the future.

Mina is also here! She looks, quite frankly, relieved to see everyone show up alive in the train. The train, by the way, is gone, because it seems like your mysterious cat friend is now back to her…first…form? And seems to be on her way out. Back to Mina, though:

Welcome to the Nekyia - the world of the unconscious. As you can see, the unconscious version of the city is, um... Very, very messed up. The more commissions you complete, the more connections you forge, the more bonds you repair, and the more Shadows you take out will help return the Nekyia to normal - and with it, the real world!

The people of this world don’t have the power to summon Personas... You’re the only ones who can save this city from the influence now. So please...

Help me fix this city from the inside-out!”

Mina has also set up a folding table set up with divinity cookies and water bottles from “Ambrosial Water Co”, judging by the labels. Characters who partake in these proffered snacks will find them rejuvenating - literally. Using a Persona’s abilities takes spiritual energy, but these snacks replenish one’s energy to full again with a single bite or sip. Any characters who want to try venturing back into the thick of the Nekyia today are free to take some with them, but do take care! Mina is only providing snacks for today, and after this characters will need to monitor their energy levels on their own.

Characters with further questions may ask Mina and she will do her best to answer! You can also try to catch the mysterious cat from earlier, too.

To go back to the real world, all characters need to do is press the "RETURN?" button on their phones. Much like the "TRANSFERRING..." message, this is the only thing on their screen.

All phones will now have a Nekyia app that will enable them to come in and out of the Nekyia at will.

[ a good deal of time after the initial awakening, ukyo can be found very, very, very, far away from anyone else with his persona at his side. which, regardless of what kind of world you come from, the vibe it provides is relatively clear. ]

Haha, I guess this makes sense... I wonder what he'd think of it though, it's clothes are messier than mine.

[ in the safe area (again, far away from everyone else redux) ukyo's seated with a notepad on his lap. he's muttering away, writing notes on his persona, the nekyia, and the monsters he's seen so far in nearly illegible scrawl. he's also more than halfway through this notepad already, if you catch him flipping through the pages to reference something before he starts writing again on a free page. ]

If I'm going to try healing, I should probably try it on myself first.

[ the emergence of the nekyia and monsters is sure a thing, but that is apparently not stopping ukyo from sleeping where he has since the day they arrived: outside. catch him literally anywhere, including but not limited to: random lawns in the park, under the awning of a random shop on a main street, or in the trunk of a pickup truck parked in a residential neighborhood.

[ Sometimes taking a walk is nice, but it's really something to see someone just lying down on the grass in the park.

...

Hm, is he dead? He tries to get closer to examine. ]

[ getting closer reveals small tell tale signs of life: ukyo's chest slowly rising and the small twitches of sleep. kind of remarkable considering he's out here on his back in the grass without even a blanket or pillow. ]

[ For real. Fuyu stands there once he confirms that Ukyo is alive and then nudges him with his foot. ]

People are gonna think you're part of the garbage collection. Sleep elsewhere.

[ ukyo stirs a bit, rolling onto his side, eyes still closed. ]

Mmn...the egg salad doesn't need to go in the trash yet it's only ten days past the expiration date...

[ well he got the garbage part at least. ]

Disgusting.

[ He says without hesitation.

Anyway, time for an experiment. He gets out a fish cutlet that should probably still smell fresh and dangles it in front of Ukyo's nose. ]

[ kirumi with her concerned expression and ukyo peacefully sleeping without a care in the world. actually he probably can't see the world too well since he actually looks more like a mummy dead body wrapped up in a sheet in the bed of this pickup truck.

if she listens closely, she'll hear faint sounds of breathing. ]

[Oh, thank goodness, a body hasn't been discovered!

With how ornery everyone in this city is, Kirumi is sure whomever owns this truck won't be happy about Ukyo sleeping here. Better wake up this guy.

Standing to the sideofthetruck, Kirumi tries to wake him up, reaching into the bed to rustle him a little]

Mmnn? [ mummy ukyo rolls over but doesn't show any other signs of waking up. maybe try a bit harder, kirumi! ]

[Why are you like this, Ukyo, did you eat too many expired eggs or something?

Since Ukyo seems to be in a deep sleep, Kirumi has to get onto the bed of the pickup truck, to shake him a little more vigorously]

[ Tenn is minding his own business in the park; he's trying to get around and relax, calm his mind and all that. He has a magazine in hand, and that's why he misses the figure snoozing away on the ground.

Tenn's foot catches on Ukyo's body, and he stumbles forward and falls onto the grass, face first.

Oof. ]

...Tch...

[ He turns back to look at Ukyo. Did that wake him up> Who the fuck knows. ]

Hey. Aren't you uncomfortable?

[ he stirs, both at the jostle and question. and then a second later, like a snake, he grabs ahold of tenn's ankle. ]

Uncomfortable? Shouldn't you be asking yourself that? [ sitting up, his grip still vice tight. ]

And what kind of stupid idiot reads a magazine when they're blind?

[ Tenn jolts when he feels Ukyo's hands ensnare his ankle, and the words that come out of his mouth are rotten. He gives him a sharp look. ]

I'm fine, thanks.

[ He tries not to grit his teeth. ]

My apologies for disturbing your nap.

[ In a very...uncomfortable place, he assumed, but...maybe this guy's just built different..... ]

[ That is an impressive amount of note-taking. McGillis is kind of mesmerized just watching the pen dance (or maybe scuttle?) over the page. And here he thought he was a workaholic.

Maybe he shouldn't interrupt Ukyo's flow, but curiosity calls. ]

You seem rather accustomed to reasoning out the unreasonable.

Huh, do I? [ he laughs at that, bashful. ]

I guess it's true that I'm used to weird things, but I still don't think I'm good at handling them yet.

You're not freezing up but instead making an effort at figuring it out. That's adaptable, if nothing else.

[ If he tries to peer into Ukyo's notes, will Ukyo let him? ]

[ praise is not something he's used to hearing, but he'll accept it in this instance even if somewhat awkwardly. ]

I'm just writing down the basics of what I've seen so far. I mix things up easily, so this helps. [ mcgillis can see the notes!

well if he can read them, but they are what he's said so: basic information about his persona and its skills, including what it looks like, what the nekyia is like and so on. ]

[ McGillis can... read individual letters. He feels like he's usually pretty good at deciphering handwriting, but this would take him longer and more careful deliberation. That is impressive in its own way and he has to hold back a frown. ANYWAY. ]

Proper documentation is important. I'll start my own notes when I return to my room.

[ He used to do audit work, paperwork is second nature to him. ]

What do you make of our situation so far? Do you think this is finally the true purpose of our being here?

[He'll probably see the giant hare before he does Hiiro, but it didn't really matter when they both sudden put their fists out in a defensive position, startled at the sight of his persona.

It doesn't last long though, not when he sees the man.]

You wouldn't be the first one. [ you'd think he might be bothered by it, but instead he's smiling, a bit bashfully. ]

I almost wish mine was cute like yours.

Ah, so you did not choose how it looks either? When I was surrounded, this one came out.

[The weird thing, probably, is how much his actions are just being mimicked by the hare. It's one thing to say it was a manifestation of his persona, but it sure acted exactly the same as he does.]

Why are you sitting all the way here?

Well mine's scary looking, isn't it? There are some other strange ones but...

[ he thinks his is among the worst. ]

But that means that it can scare even the creatures that were attacking us.

[Is that how it works? It is now.]

In that sense, it is also really cool.

Argenti manages to come upon Ukyo at some point once again, watching as he is lying down in the trunk of a pickup truck.

It's a little out there, but it could always sincerely be worse. All the same, he has to wonder if it is truly comfortable out here. ]
