WEEK 2

WAKE UP, GET UP, GET OUT THERE.

Saturday rolls around and characters may see that there are notices from Mina, saying that everyone will be taking a trip at noon sharp on Saturday, and to have their weapons. Whether characters pay this heed or not, they will in fact hear a ding from their phones at noon, their screens glowing a sunset red with the word "TRANSFERRING..." the only thing to be seen. And then, just like that –

You all enter.

The new world before you can be described in one word: twisted. It doesn't feel great, but it doesn't feel extremely awful, either, depending on how you look at it – it's a distorted version of the already grim city that you've been brought to, and you are specifically in the shopping district. Everything seems to be darker shades of red, yellow, and purple, if you can see it through the haze ominously floating about.

That feeling of something stirring in your chest seems to grow stronger, more potent, burning with the desire to be let free…

…and you, all of you, are surrounded. Various monsters and demons are threatening to attack you, looking at you like you are their prey. That's because you are…but you don't have to be for long. The moment that you engage in battle with them, no matter who strikes first, is the moment your emancipation begins.

Welcome to your awakening.

You feel a surge of energy rush to your palm – for some, it burns like a fiery blaze. For others, it sparks with electricity; perhaps wind circles around it, or a mysterious frost begins to blanket it. Maybe you have a mysterious pink aura around it, or a bright turquoise light; a dark, sinister glow or a calming light. Whatever the case may be, it drives you to place your hand over your heart.

You latch onto something. It is not your chest, it's not your heart, but it's something deeper than that, something from your being. You pull, you drag it out, and there is no bloodshed or any sort of pain, only a very bright light and some struggle as you unearth what is within. You finally, finally feel free as a new part of you literally stands before you. Say hello to your new friend: Your Persona.

Your new skills feel intuitive, and you feel like you can navigate them well enough to at least try to survive. You don't need to question how or why you understand them just yet; all you need to do is let yourself experience your power, and you'll stand a chance.

And with that, it's time to fight.

(Note: Weapon attacks will always deal Phys damage, but Phys spells will naturally do more than just whacking enemies with your weapons. Go wild, dodge, parry – combat is more freeform here than it is in Persona, so play this out however you'd like.

Furthermore, you'll be able to see everyone's cool Personas! You just won't be able to really interact with them directly.)

After the battle, there's the sound of a whistle. Turn your heads towards the source, and…huh? A cat?

"Alright, newbies, it's time to roll out."

…And it talks???

She says it with a scowl on her face, and soon, she leaps up – poof, and suddenly, there is a cat train in front of you. Weirdly enough, this cat is the one driving it. How did she summon the train…who knows.

"Get in, unless you wanna get your asses kicked!"

And sure enough, she's right, because there seem to be more enemies flocking towards you. She will drag you all in whether you like it or not.

SAFE AREA.

And, after a quick ride on the cat train, you find yourselves back at the dorms! ...Kind of. Much like the rest of this alternate world, it’s distorted in shape, though there’s none of the haze you saw when you first arrived. It seems this area, at least, is safe - characters would be wise to note it as a location to base any Nekyia operations out of in the future.

Mina is also here! She looks, quite frankly, relieved to see everyone show up alive in the train. The train, by the way, is gone, because it seems like your mysterious cat friend is now back to her…first…form? And seems to be on her way out. Back to Mina, though:

Welcome to the Nekyia - the world of the unconscious. As you can see, the unconscious version of the city is, um... Very, very messed up. The more commissions you complete, the more connections you forge, the more bonds you repair, and the more Shadows you take out will help return the Nekyia to normal - and with it, the real world!

The people of this world don’t have the power to summon Personas... You’re the only ones who can save this city from the influence now. So please...

Help me fix this city from the inside-out!”

Mina has also set up a folding table set up with divinity cookies and water bottles from “Ambrosial Water Co”, judging by the labels. Characters who partake in these proffered snacks will find them rejuvenating - literally. Using a Persona’s abilities takes spiritual energy, but these snacks replenish one’s energy to full again with a single bite or sip. Any characters who want to try venturing back into the thick of the Nekyia today are free to take some with them, but do take care! Mina is only providing snacks for today, and after this characters will need to monitor their energy levels on their own.

Characters with further questions may ask Mina and she will do her best to answer! You can also try to catch the mysterious cat from earlier, too.

To go back to the real world, all characters need to do is press the "RETURN?" button on their phones. Much like the "TRANSFERRING..." message, this is the only thing on their screen.

All phones will now have a Nekyia app that will enable them to come in and out of the Nekyia at will.

A. Eternal Dungeon

[Once the app gets fixed, Aubrey can be found traveling to the Nekyia on her own. Maybe your character just so happens to catch her at the entrance!]

...Oh.

B. Respite

[On occasion, she can also be seen... going to Braphine's temple?

She doesn't seem to have become a member or anything. Instead, she seems to specifically go when there aren't any particular gatherings, grabbing a chair and dragging it off to the side to take a seat and... not relax, exactly, but get a quiet moment to herself at least. She's so lost in her thoughts it will actually take her up until a character is physically right in front of her before she even notices they're there.]

...Oh. Hey.

[Her voice is quiet, even though this particular place of worship encourages normal volume levels when it comes to speaking amongst each other. Old habits die hard.]

C. Bargain Bin Boys

[...She can also be found shopping! Specifically, in the Fashion District. Now that she has enough money, it's time to fill out her closet.

The problem is, with what. She's never had this much spending money at her fingertips before, and while her clothes from home are clearly more budget options than not, she finds herself drifting by shop windows to check out the fashions on display.

And, if she happens to spot someone else from the dorms around, she'll even pipe up:]

[She rests her nail bat on her shoulder, sizing him up before giving a quick nod. Truthfully she doesn't have enough experience to gauge any real combat experience from just a look, but she's not exactly chomping at the bit to go off on her own, either.]

[ Did somebody say ~*Fashion District*~? Heeeeere's Argenti, showing up himself to wander out and about. Though he usually is seen in almost fully clad armor, it is also true that he likes to wear normal clothes, and as such...he does have interest in the latest fashion. ]

Yes, something like that!

[ Somewhere in the middle because Argenti hasn't truly been able to land his eye on the many selections available. ]

[ It's a rare day still when he doesn't have his armor on, actually. But having something else to wear that is stylish is nice...of course with the code he has to abide by, far too much indulgence is not allowed. ]

Perhaps this too would be something "far fancier" than what I have witnessed at home myself. Though, I've certainly witnessed quite a dazzling array of articles of clothing that do well in embodying Beauty, as a result of my various travels through space.

But, is "fancy" something you're finding that agrees with you? Even if it is so unusual?

[He casts the spell, and a stack of light blue cards start shuffling themselves in front of Sou. Eventually one is drawn out and shown. It says 98% on it.]

[It's not really all that surprising to see someone else at the entrance, given how people have taken to going in and out of the Nekyia at their leisure. Aaron's no exception, dropping in with a pair of swords strapped to his back.]

Yep. Figured I might as well get in some exercise for the day. Why, you wanna team up?

[Eyeing those swords because ah. Not that she thought he was kidding, but there's something about seeing them in person.]

Early Week 3

I. RETAIL THERAPY

[ With money in her pocket from commissions, Ai is on a shopping trip. She has the usual food and necessities in her cart, but passing by the children's section, she decides to take a quick peek...because sometimes you impulse spend on your kids to cope with missing them so much. ]

This one's soooo cute.

[ She finds herself cooing over a pink ballerina dress for a toddler, but as she checks out the sizes, she ends up clutching her head in distress. Toddlers grow fast! Will her baby be the same size when they're finally allowed to go home? What kind of mother is she to not know how big her kids are getting? ]

II. INVINCIBLE GIRL

[ So, going from having a tight schedule organized by your manager to no schedule at all, Ai's time management has become haphazard. Some days, she rises early to do her vocal exercises in the park (sometimes being shooed away by an unwelcoming local for being noisy). Other days, she drags herself out of bed late and you'll find her heating up a sad microwave meal in the dorm dining room. No matter how she starts her day, she maintains her unflappable smile. ]

MINI-EVENT - FRIDAY

It’s a day just like any other… The sun is shining, and the residential district remains quiet as ever save for the sound of aerosol cans and chatter–

Wait, what?

Those mild sounds are followed by a distinctly less mild sound - specifically, a scream near the dorms.

[Guess he's ambling over! He's here, looking mildly concerned.]

I'm inclined to agree. The city's not been hospitable but never particularly violent, so far.

Anyway jokes aside, Argenti is going to just rush towards the sound of the scream. No talk, need to figure out what's going on, and who needs saving (provided there isn't a dead body!!) ]

[ He's not one for rescuing others, but he goes over to where he heard the scream came from. ]

[ Oh.... that's concerning!! She's definitely going to be investigating this. ]

[oh boy it's murder time— i mean uh. fray is here! he has a bigass sword and everything, who does he need to kill—]

[Maybe it's not a murder! Maybe it's just the dumb babies corner doing something stupid! Who knows!

Aubrey doesn't, which is why she follows to see what the ruckus is about, nail bat ever in hand.]

Upon arrival, characters will find that Mina exited the dorms only to find strangers there - spray painting the walls with insults like proper hooligans, although they seem to skew older rather than the miscreant teens one might expect…?

Once people begin showing up, a woman with a blue bandana decides that’s enough vandalism for the day and chucks her spray can at Mina before making a break for it. Apparently she’s the ringleader, because the other four immediately scatter in different directions.
