The interior of the church... doesn’t seem to be a church at all, actually. Rather, it’s the first floor of a small house, though characters would be forgiven for not noticing right away.
This is because the place is not only dark, but absolutely filthy. Bags of garbage are strewn all about the floor, leaving only narrow paths to walk between them all. The incessant buzz of flies is accompanied by the vapid chatter from some talk show playing on a CRT TV. A shadowy figure sits on a couch, equally occupied by trash and beer bottles, evidently too engrossed in the show to pay much heed to anything else.
Something rustles among the trash in the kitchen, though there’s too much garbage in the way to see what, exactly it could have been. There is also a door leading to the rest of the house.
[Well, nothing's trying to eat his face, so that's a good thing! However, he grimaces at the stench of garbage, automatically moving his arm up to cover his nose for a moment until he acclimates to the smell.]
Damn... Who the hell actually lives like this?
[Well, he sees that thing in the kitchen so like. Let's get a bit closer!! Does it do anything as he approaches?]
The kitchen is separated from the rest of the living room and dining room only by the tile flooring, which characters may feel underfoot before they see it thanks to all of the trash. The smell of rotting food is especially strong in this area, as is the buzz of flies. However, from this vantage point, it becomes far more evident-
A Shadow creeps among the garbage bags, gripping something in its hands before it tosses it into its sack. It backs away, gaze wary...
[ What the hell... sorry to everyone who was going to take a more measured approach about this. Maika is immediately going to pounce towards the Shadow, aiming to grab the bag or the monster, whatever comes closer to hand. ]
[Fray has definitely been here this whole time and didn't just show up suddenly, don't worry about it. Regardless, he's making his way to the door to scope out the rest of the place to make sure there aren't any threats that might catch us unawares.]
[As soon as Arven enters, he instinctively brings a hand up to cover his nose.]
Eugh...
[This is horrible. Who lives like this?
As everyone begins their search, he makes his way to the kitchen because apparently he's a masochist and wants to be horrified by an unkempt kitchen. Wait, what was that in the trash?]
[This... definitely does not look promising at all, nope. But there's nowhere else to go but forward, and so Richard will be taking a few cautious steps towards the door, tensed to either strike or jump back if needed.]

She grabs a bottle by the neck and takes a drink. And, once she's finished, she tosses that aside, too.

[ Just. Dropping his bag of trash, then, and leaving it there! ]

No, no, that’s not quite right. Rather, the shadows of the room overtake her, changing her form to something far more monstrous.
