THIS IS NOT GOODBYE (YET)

Welcome back to Sunset City! Kenir has been defeated, the barrier around the city has been broken, and the Temple has been restored to its usual condition.

Following your conversations with Braphine at the Temple, your local goddess of community and connection has granted you the gift of being able to go back to where you came from, or to visit other places where your bonds have been formed.

But. It takes time to prepare all these, no?

Which is why you have been granted some time. Time to yourself, with your new bonds and friendships, positive and/or negative - to spend time with each other before you go your separate ways.

Dennyhop, burger-making, movie time, karaoke, rest… Whatever you choose to do with your remaining time in Sunset City is up to you. It's safe to roam around, too, given that the residents seem to be themselves again – sure, there is conflict, there is anger, there is sadness to be found, but there is not anything depriving the people of the full human experience. Not right now, and hopefully, not for a long time. The sense of community is present among the residents…

…And perhaps among all of you, too. Much more so than when you first arrived.

[It's hard to imagine that their time in Sunset City is almost at a close. Sayaka never expected that her life would end up like this in the slightest, but as Sayaka wakes up on the second to last day here...well, one might find her in her room with the door opened, talking to herself a bit.]

How did I end up with this many of you...? Ahhh, you're all so cute...how am I gonna decide how many of you to keep?

[Sayaka's bottom bunk is. Filled with Raisinomorolls. A few of them have cute little outfits, but they're mostly just the same lil Raisinomorolls that you get from the claw machines. Nothing but Raisonomorolls. There is at least 30 of these guys. Help. Sayaka's prepping a suitcase or two and she has just realized how many stuffed animals and outfits and makeups she's gonna have to try and get rid of...

Of course, a little later on in the afternoon, you can actually find Sayaka at Cafe au Lait! Not working behind the counter, of course; she turned in her notice weeks ago, but she animatedly chats with the barista on duty and the manager of the place, and the vibes are absolutely cozy. And perhaps moreover, Sayaka can absolutely get you a discount on some lunch here--they seem to be talking about everything that happened a bit, and it's clear that they're quite thankful for the assistance. Both of Sayaka working there, and of the fact that they can feel again.

Of course, Sayaka will probably be mingling at any group mingles that happen, but by the time the late evening comes around, Sayaka's over at the Docks, sitting at her favorite bench with some kind of warm drink and just. Cozily vibing. One of the Raisinomorolls has joined Sayaka on her lap for this adventure, and if anyone happens to come by looking for her, she'll perk and wave them over.]

Hey, come on. Join me for a bit, if you want. This is probably one of the coziest places to be this late at night, heehee.

I haven't really said anything about this because I wasn't sure if I should, but I just wanted to let you all know that you can call me Sayaka now! I know I've insisted on politeness, and it's...mostly just because I'm so used to fans who have never really respected that with me.

But I guess more to the point, my last name isn't Maizono anymore. It's Myste, heehee...but each and every one of you, you're all very precious to me in one form or another, so I just wanted to let you all know.

I hope we all see each other again sometime!

[ Argenti is making preparations to leave, of course, after the battle itself has ended up pretty much finished.

So he can be found at stores, buying stuff. It looks like instant cameras? Huh.

Other than that, he can be found riding around on his motorcycle if people want to catch him with that. He will raise a hand in greeting and even stop if it looks like somebody wants to talk. Or, he'll suggest: ]

[ Towards the end of the day, outside of potential group mingling (because maybe those are happening) Argenti can also be found on the outskirts of the city itself, near the farmlands. Here his hair's pinned up a ponytail and he's out of his armor, looking at the afternoon sun, looking wistful.

He's thinking about someone. But, even if its a remembrance of a time long ago, it isn't with sadness.

...He's come so far.

Yet...Argenti will scatter some petals to the wind. He hopes his dear friend will be looking down upon this, at peace, wherever his soul rests.

Then, he turns to face whoever has come to approach and waves with a little happy smile. ]

It seems our departure shall soon be upon us. Have you finished making preparations?

[ You know, Yoon and Argenti haven't spoken before, but he's not afraid to answer the man's question when he's addressed. He came out here to say goodbye to the city, wasn't expecting to see anyone else here, but this may be nice. ]

Ah, I think so. I'm hoping to take some of the medicine here back for my friends, for starters - other than that, there's not much I'm bringing home.

[ Now that's a sentimental shopping list if he's ever seen one. McGillis himself is here to buy practical things that he might find himself needing in the near future, so his own haul is a lot more utilitarian... Are those heat detection goggles???

He approaches Argenti with a smile. ]

[ When Argenti offers a ride on his bike, Sunrise seems to light up a little. ]

[ At the end of it all, there is a day like every other.

Waking in the dorms, in a room that is half his own and half mausoleum to a man he barely knew but had a hand in killing. Grabbing a quick breakfast in the communal kitchen, long before most of the others are awake. Making his way to work... It's a day like every other, except for where it's not.

Last night, McGillis called his troupe leader at Sunset Theater to announce his sudden retirement. Today, he's coming in to pass some last advice to his understudy. By the time he gets out of the theater, it's past noon and he has a giant bouquet of flowers in his arms. There's a card attached, dangling by a ribbon, and any onlooker can see a wealth of signatures and well-wishes. For his part, McGillis looks a little baffled by his gift.... Is he supposed to take this to Chaldea with him?!

Later in the afternoon, McGillis joins the group of people doing packing and cleaning at the dorms. Safe for the aforementioned giant bouquet placed in a vase on his desk, McGillis' room already looks completely cleared out. There's a packed suitcase in a corner. McGillis isn't done here though - through the open door, you might be able to see him taking the mattress out of the bed to air it out, or dusting the wardrobe, or similar activities. He's leaving this place spotless.... his half of it, anyway.

He can also be found... at the hunting store, buying more ammo for his gun. After the battle is before the battle - he knows he's not going to a peaceful world, and he might as well spend his remaining money to be prepared. You might also catch him browsing bulletproof vests... ]

[ McGillis will feel a little bump from something soft against the back of his head while he's in the middle of dusting the wardrobe off. Eli's chosen to creep up on him while his back is turned to the door and should McGillis turn to face him, he'll see what was being held against his hair, too.

It's a cute little sloth plushie from the claw games at the arcade. Eli managed to win two. The second one, for whatever reason, he has decided is going with McGillis here. ]

You really going all out in cleaning, huh?

[McGillis isn't terribly hard to spot around the city, carting around his giant bouquet. It's not a terribly unfamiliar sight, and Celeste immediately knows what's happened. He resigned from the theater. He'll be well-missed. He was given a parting gift that's entirely too unwieldy to take along on a move.

It's almost comical how similar performing types are.

But he suspects this would be McGillis's first round with something like this. So he shows up to his dorm room later instead of pestering him in the middle of the sidewalk, a few handy things in, well, hand, and gives a polite knock on the open door before stepping in.]

Not planning to return for an encore, I see.

[Next to the vase he sets a heavy book, a pad of watercolor paper, and a couple of the fattest rubber bands you ever did see.

And then he holds up some scissors and does a little 'snip-snip' gesture in the air.]

You'll want to keep at least a few of these, so... May I?

[After some rest, Aubrey gets herself some luggage so she can pack up all the clothes she's been able to purchase what with the consistent pay for helping and all.

Once she's packed up everything else, she can be found in her room, looking after her white bunny. She has a new travel carrier set up next to him, ready for the transfer of bun once the time comes.

Come say hi? Come pet the bun? Both?? Up to you!]

[ Eli... won't even try petting the bunny, thanks. He can't help but look at poor Bunbun and see lunch. Still, that won't stop him from giving a knock on the door before poking a head in. ]

[Shin isn't that hard to find out on the docks. He's just leaning against a railing, watching the water below.

In his hands is something important that might be recognizable to some people here. A stack of 4 cards, to be exact.]

[One last hee to ho... Anyone can find Atem in the dorms as he's cleaning his room with the door and windows wide open, though the particularly observant may note he hasn't bothered to pack a single bag. Instead his room seems to have more stuff in it--- there are several books neatly staked on his relatively small desk. He isn't keen on leaving this dimension yet. Still too much that needs to be done.

And if he isn't in his room, he's at the various stores. At the bookstore, he looks over different teaching materials. Too bad there isn't a "Teaching a God Basic Empathy for Dummies" book! His other stops appear more practical--- cleaning supplies, grocery shopping, and clothes appropriate for a 12 year old. Yes, there's a child's size shirt with Jack Frost on it. Sadly it is not for him. ... He could probably wear it though.

And lastly... he's seen at the temple, moving his makeshift memorials of Fuyu and Jordi, once kept in the common room, to a more suitable location.]

[Nothing like a quick power nap to recharge herself after a battle that felt like it lasted near an eternity. For once, Saori didn't feel like cooking and went down to Dennyhop for some breakfast. It's time to treat ourselves. She takes a seat in one of the bigger booths so anyone is welcome to join her.]

Hmm hadn't had diner food like this in ages...

[She figures there's no harm with one last shopping trip and actually goes to several shops. She sits down on a nearby bench and starts writing in a fresh journal, determined to fill it up as much as she can. Right next to her are a stacked pair of familiar green froggy chairs, and a tote bag with a few books in it.]

[To probably no one's surprise, one of the last places Saori can be found is in the dorm kitchen. All the stuff she planned to bring back with her are ready to go, but there's still one last thing that needed to be done. She had made a batch of her curry and rice the day before so it had time to mature with flavor. This time around, she managed to grab some takeout containers from her earlier shopping trip, so there's now at least one for each of them and plenty of extras if any would like some.]

[Funnily enough, Sayaka was coming home from Cafe au Lait to get back onto packing when she smells something wonderful in the kitchen--she's going to miss this, honestly. Though she didn't know Saori very well, the woman was deeply kind and genuinely such a blessing to know, and hearing those words...

Well, Sayaka takes the curry portion easily, but she also has a small bag from the Cafe for her!]

Heehee! Only if you take this in return, Saori-san. I wasn't sure what you liked, but I figured I wanted to get you something in return for everything you've done for us. Thank you so, so much.

[For those coming home hungry from the final battle, Arven's whipping up his special sandwiches in the dorm kitchen for anyone to enjoy. He'll even take topping requests! It's a far cry from where he started, balking at the others who were willing to cook for so many people. But...if this is really the last chance he'll get to spend time with these people, why not also thank them with his home cooking?

Like many others, Arven spends some time cleaning his dorm room- Eli's side included. He'd already done a good job at keeping the room pretty clean for the majority of his time here, so one would think it'd be a relatively quick process. But he keeps finding little knickknacks that he'd forgotten about and winds up stalling. He can't help but get sentimental over the fact that he won't be living here anymore.

Last but not least, it's time to tie up some loose ends in the city proper. Both Arven and Mabosstiff can be found in the shopping district, specifically at the pet store. He's there to check up on things after that shadow fiasco, and to also let the staff know that he's moving away. No more cool dog guy, alas... But at least he's leaving with plenty of treats and dog toys for Mabosstiff!

He smiles down at Mabosstiff as they make their final rounds in the city.]

[ As the two people spending the day deep cleaning, McGillis and Arven are bound to run into each other at the janitorial supply closet... McGillis gives a nod of respect and acknowledgement: finally someone else who knows how to leave their room properly. ]

So is Eli helping you, or did the wolf just throw you to the wolves here?

[ Sunrise can be found cleaning her and Richard's room, rearranging things neatly, and trying to figure out what to keep and what to give away. Her suitcase is mostly packed, but...

...There's a box with over two dozen crane game plushies sitting there. That's so many plushies.

Or maybe you find her in the backyard, contemplatively looking at the small forge setup she's responsible for. ]

...It would be a waste to dismantle all this...
