THE END 2.0: THE AFTERPARTY

THE END 2.0
THIS IS NOT GOODBYE (YET)
Welcome back to Sunset City! Kenir has been defeated, the barrier around the city has been broken, and the Temple has been restored to its usual condition.

Following your conversations with Braphine at the Temple, your local goddess of community and connection has granted you the gift of being able to go back to where you came from, or to visit other places where your bonds have been formed.

But. It takes time to prepare all these, no?

Which is why you have been granted some time. Time to yourself, with your new bonds and friendships, positive and/or negative - to spend time with each other before you go your separate ways.

Dennyhop, burger-making, movie time, karaoke, rest… Whatever you choose to do with your remaining time in Sunset City is up to you. It's safe to roam around, too, given that the residents seem to be themselves again – sure, there is conflict, there is anger, there is sadness to be found, but there is not anything depriving the people of the full human experience. Not right now, and hopefully, not for a long time. The sense of community is present among the residents…

…And perhaps among all of you, too. Much more so than when you first arrived.

[ This makes sense at least. He puts his new little plush companion down by his luggage and sits down on the bed.

It isn't like finding someone to love is going to fix any of that.

It's a perfectly reasonable statement, but in McGillis' renewed mental state it still feels kind of fresh. 'Goals' and 'love' have always been diametrically opposed to him - loving someone as an idea had been wholly antithetical to the idea of having a purpose. It's only now that he's letting himself believe that both can coexist. ]

For the fact that we're both wolves, we're really quite different. Yet it seems we have come to hold the very same desires at the end.

[ A place with the person they want to be with. And a goal and use beyond being loved. ]

Thinking of it now, Celeste might actually be the only one of us who doesn't crave a purpose quite as badly...?
