THIS IS NOT GOODBYE (YET)

Welcome back to Sunset City! Kenir has been defeated, the barrier around the city has been broken, and the Temple has been restored to its usual condition.

Following your conversations with Braphine at the Temple, your local goddess of community and connection has granted you the gift of being able to go back to where you came from, or to visit other places where your bonds have been formed.

But. It takes time to prepare all these, no?

Which is why you have been granted some time. Time to yourself, with your new bonds and friendships, positive and/or negative - to spend time with each other before you go your separate ways.

Dennyhop, burger-making, movie time, karaoke, rest… Whatever you choose to do with your remaining time in Sunset City is up to you. It's safe to roam around, too, given that the residents seem to be themselves again – sure, there is conflict, there is anger, there is sadness to be found, but there is not anything depriving the people of the full human experience. Not right now, and hopefully, not for a long time. The sense of community is present among the residents…

…And perhaps among all of you, too. Much more so than when you first arrived.

[One last hee to ho... Anyone can find Atem in the dorms as he's cleaning his room with the door and windows wide open, though the particularly observant may note he hasn't bothered to pack a single bag. Instead his room seems to have more stuff in it--- there are several books neatly staked on his relatively small desk. He isn't keen on leaving this dimension yet. Still too much that needs to be done.

And if he isn't in his room, he's at the various stores. At the bookstore, he looks over different teaching materials. Too bad there isn't a "Teaching a God Basic Empathy for Dummies" book! His other stops appear more practical--- cleaning supplies, grocery shopping, and clothes appropriate for a 12 year old. Yes, there's a child's size shirt with Jack Frost on it. Sadly it is not for him. ... He could probably wear it though.

And lastly... he's seen at the temple, moving his makeshift memorials of Fuyu and Jordi, once kept in the common room, to a more suitable location.]

[Though it is literally the coolest shirt to exist. The Jack Frost on it even says "HEE HO, I AM WEARING THE COOLEST SHIRT." While wearing the shirt. While the shirt again says the same thing. Shirt quote inception...]

... You know how we chose to make Kenir human? I thought it wouldn't be fair to leave Mina to watch over him all by herself.

Despite standing here on my own, I probably won't ever feel "whole" again... but if I can help the human part of Kenir learn and grow from his mistakes...

I'm going to keep traveling to visit everyone too, but I would like staying here.

The dorms are going to be pretty empty now though.

I'm glad. I meant what I said after your palace- and you didn't seem ready to go back. ... But, you'll have to visit me and Arven, alright?

[He flashes a warm grin as he gestures for her to sit with him on the now newly made bed.]

A world where Capumon are real sounds a lot of fun.

[Hey, Sunrise, care to hold these books as he rearranges a bit?]

I plan to follow Richard home.

[ A pause. ]

...Though perhaps we should go to my home first so I can explain to everyone...

... If I went home first to explain myself, I'm certain I'd never hear the end of how this a terrible idea.

[His fingers graze along the book's paper cover edge.]

It's pretty selfish... But this choice is for me as much as it is for Mina and Kenir. I'm doing this for myself.

Do you know anything about Richard's world yet?

Even from Mr. Yugi?

[ Yeah, Yugi gets Mr.'ed. ]

...But if this is what you want, I will not try to persuade you otherwise. I have only heard a little about Richard's world, but it will be like learning new things again.

Haha, no. He wouldn't say that... but I'm afraid I also won't see him again for decades. He has a long life ahead of him without me in it.

[He sets the book down.]

You've done it once... You're an expert dimension hopper already.

Can you not visit him? ...Or is that not a good idea? [ Given what she does know about that situation with him and Atem. ]

I get the feeling he is going to be rather busy once we're there, though. [ (She has no idea exactly how right she is, in a manner of speaking.) ]

[Atem's not the only one doing a shopping trip. She recognizes him in the bookstore and decided to walk over to him to say hello. It's only then she glanced at what he was browsing over.]

Study materials? Are these...for Kenir?

Indeed they are. We can't expect Mina to raise that brat all by herself.

[Atem doesn't have much use for a phonetics book. Kenir, though? Definitely. He can't keep saying "fuck" every other word. It's concerning for a boy that age... Just not right.]

Is this age appropriate..?

[He holds a red book with a cover of a flame that states, "I Feel Angry". It is definitely not meant for a twelve year old boy. A petulant immortal god, perhaps. Atem may or may not be trolling. (He is.)]

Very true. If I didn't have my own children to worry about, I wouldn't mind staying even for little bit longer...

[Not to mention, he would be testing her own patience to their limits. She tilts her head as she puzzles over the book in question.]

Reading level shouldn't be a problem but the book's theme could be a good start for him. Baby steps, you know?
