Sadly, it can't all be fun and games, though Atem would prefer that right now. He grants everyone permission to wander the palace grounds without the guards or Priest Set (the grumpy fellow from before but I am not playing him longer than that post) bothering them.

There are some servants wandering the halls in a hurry, still preparing for dinner time. If your character tries to approach someone, flip a coin (or roll 1D2) and bold the result in your reply.

The courtyard is open to explore. It's like a little garden with a large open pool where various water lilies float on the surface. Some servants mentioned you may find the Vizier, but he doesn't seem to be around. If you choose to explore this area, please roll a Perception Check (1D20, result greater than 11 is a success).

You may also return to the throne room and try to open the large doors. Apparently that's how you reach the basement. If you choose to explore this area, please roll a Strength Check (1D20, result greater than 11 is a success).

And for whatever reason you if want to wander in the hallways, you'll find another mural.

Not me expecting everyone to pool their low numbers together to open one of the doors. Instead Yoon gets a nat20. Of course this is happening.

The throne room is large and opulent. A gigantic throne sits in very back of the room, finely carved stone with lion-like details. How does Atem sit in that and not look tiny?

Speaking of Atem, he's not here. But Yoon and everyone else are welcome to explore! Please roll a Perception Check (1D20, result greater than 11 is a success).

[Well done. He gives Yoon a nod for his efforts-- he only just came about because he was busy being stalkery elsewhere-- and he strides into the throne room without a speck of fear... Or caution. One sign that he still hasn't fully recovered from his bout of bloodlust earlier.

[Well, Haruka rolled a 3 on his perception check, so everything seems perfectly fine and normal here and he's not too concerned with wandering around.... because there's water.

Will he get in trouble if he gets in the pool? Maybe, but neither he nor the Little Mermaid care, because he's taking off his shoes and socks and hopping right in. At least he does technically have a change of clothes so he's just going to fully embrace the water and float on his back for a bit, regardless of how deep the water is. Cooling... Refreshing... Some servants stop and stare, judging Haruka and his life choices, but they quickly leave. They have better things to do.

The light from the sun and moon shines just right, and Aubrey may see something glittering in the pool of water.

[Well, since Fray doesn't notice anything amiss (2), he's going to wander over to that mural! What do we have here?]

Upon closer inspection the mural shows Pharaoh Akhnamkhanen praying to the gods.

As he reads the hieroglyphs, Fray will hear the voice of an older man speak to him.

"O Holy Gods, I make adoration in your names and shall declare your power. Herald them to those senior and junior. Herald them to generations now and still yet to come. Herald them to those who knows them not and those who know them. You who are Gods, come and forgive at this plea."

"I call to you as I am distressed and have committed an unforgivable sin. I created the seven Millennium Items unknowing of their abhorrence. I call to you that my son does not inherit my sin! For you are ones who are merciful when you are called upon by the Pharaoh, Akhnamkhanen, justified. Please allow me bare the consequences alone!"

"May you Gods come and forgive him as you all endure, you will be gracious... As the Pharaoh, Akhnamkhanen, I am justified."

The hieroglyphs further read:

Two days later, the Pharaoh fell ill and passed away in his sleep. His sacrifice quelled the Gods' anger for some time. Enough for young Atem to ascend the throne and peace restored to the Black Lands.

Little did Atem know that the continued use of the Millennium Items would soon reignite their anger.
