Climbing up the rickety ladder will bring characters into a... surprisingly tidy attic room, if still in a state of disrepair just like the rest of the house. Cracks in the wall are hidden by a desk and cork board, but neither are enough to patch the holes in the roof itself, light filtering down from above as a result.
There is a cage with a well-cared for rabbit near the ladder, snoozing peacefully. Next to an unmade bed is a nightstand with a framed photo on it. The desk that hides the hole in the wall has a thick album on it.
( that's aubrey's rabbit. crouching beside the pen, she reaches in to gently pet and investigate. it doesn't seem as though the rabbit has been harmed by shadows... )
... You're very well loved, aren't you? Despite everything...
... But..
( mafuyu frowns softly, looking back to the ladder, and even further around the room. the giant hole, the cracks in everything, the filth- )
... This must be her home.
( its astounding how it's the exact opposite of her life; not a speck of dust verses trash and debris everywhere, a mother so overbearing that it's a chokehold and a mother so negligent that she leaves a mark on the couch.
The album on the desk is thick and green, thanks to the thick pages designed to set photos into place. The cover is a green leather with the words “Basil’s Memories” on the front, and inside... the album is empty.
A note tucked into the album has handwritten instructions.
Mix water and dish soap and gently wipe the photo with a soft cloth
Dab a cotton swab with rubbing alcohol on the marker stain, slowly
Once the stain is gone, wipe down again with the soft cloth and water/dish soap mix.
[At some point, kitchen group will wander up into the attic area too, probably smelling of too much kitchen garbage as they tote along a set of four photos scribbled out with marker. But wow, this is crowded as fuck.]
[lbr, Aaron probably still has a bit of trash clinging to his long ponytail, but that sure as hell isn't stopping him from stepping in. He turns back to Arven at the comment, though.]
Not gonna stop you if you'd rather wait downstairs, but you never know if more of those monsters might come knockin'.
Nah, that was downstairs. [This whole place is the opposite of the party, but at least there were things to fight down there.
As more people come up the stairs, Kainé's assumed her usual large group activity of sectioning herself off against the farthest wall she can secure, back to it and heel resting against it while she waits.]
