[Once everyone finds a card, the room shifts around them. Now they are in a room full of podiums, watching a final vote tally tick down. By nearly double, the vote goes to Kai Satou, leaving him trembling in fear.
The head of this game just laughs her shrill laugh before stating the results.]
Kai Satou has been voted out! And as you all thought, he is indeed the Sage. Which just leaves our Sacrifice...
[She turns and looks to Joe, which makes Sara start to panic.]
"No...Not Joe...Please!"
[But the game master just continues on as if she didn't hear Sara.]
Joe Tazuna!
[Joe is sweating, and Sara starts to cry. But the game master continues to talk.]
We'll start with the Sacrifice, and leave our dear Sage as the main show~
[You're about to watch two innocent people die, just because they were unlucky in what cards to get. It feels wrong, you know it's wrong in your heart, but what can you do? You stand there, indecisive. Should you intervene and try to save Joe and Kai, or stay out of it and keep yourself safe?]
Yeah. He took the Sacrifice card from the person who originally found it and swapped it for a Commoner card. He said he'd take care of it, but he had a bunch of other Commoner cards... I bet he's the one who made Joe get the Sacrifice card instead.
[His voice is quiet, like he's trying to find the will to do the right thing.]
No, you can't-
[The game master just sneers at him.]
Kyahahahaha! The little schemer is turning a new leaf? Well, you can certainly take their place if you want to! Maybe then you'll do something good with your useless little life.
[His voice catches in his throat. He...he can't do that...]
[Though it is a narrow victory, take their place is chosen. It gives Sou just enough courage to actually speak out again.]
Whatever it takes, I'll do it.
[The game master grins, and she snaps her fingers.
Suddenly a bunch of tubes shoot out from all directions, aimed right at Sou. He tries to back up, but the tubes chase right after him, jamming through his clothes and into whatever skin they can find.
And then, everything freezes. And a familiar face shows up.]
Do you really want to die that badly?
[This time Magenta snaps his fingers, and suddenly Atem is in Sou's place, arms and legs punctured with these small tubes.
And then these tubes start sucking all of the blood out of Atem's body. It's going to be a slow, painful death.]

"Sou" likely didn't intervene out of fear.
[Hum.]
Did anyone else happen to catch a glimpse of a memory when you touched a card?

cw: decapitation,
Fear for himself, or fear for someone else?
[ a pause, and then he says it almost offhandedly. ]
Yeah, mine was of the consequences if they didn't vote. The collar apparently burns your head off your neck.
... I suppose in that case that's also probably the punishment for intervention.
