TURNS -I'll make a toplevel in this post for each turn Oberon takes. Reply underneath these toplevels! -This is a FFA fight! Hop in and out as needed, I'll try to do new turns at mostly regular intervals. -I'll base the targets of Oberon's single target attacks based on whoever tagged in last turn. -AOE spells and skills will have a base dice roll by me. Players will need to roll higher to dodge. (I will cap my rolls at 10-15, players roll a normal d20) -Status ailments are not cleared until the following turn after the cleanse is cast.
ACTIONS -You are allowed a primary action and a secondary action per turn! Please bold your action and your roll for visibility. -A standard attack or offensive Persona Skill is a primary action. Roll a D20: 11-20 is a hit, 1-10 is a miss. You can determine how good or bad your roll equates to. -Healing and Support Skills are considered secondary actions! These do not require a roll, however the ability to do these actions can be affected by status ailments.
BONUS -A (NOT SO SECRET) THIRD THING! Oberon sits upon a throne made of dreams. This is now taken literally by me; his throne is made of dream bricks. -As a primary action, you can take a dream brick. I will reply with the effect of the brick that will happen the next turn the characters take.
-The effects include, based on a d6 dice roll: • [1] A random status ailment that will take effect next turn. • [2, 4, 6] Roll with advantage next turn (roll 2 D20 and take the higher number) • [3, 5] Roll with disadvantage next turn (roll 2 D20 and take the lower number)
-If the player does this action with a status effect from the last round, it gets traded out for the effect.
-Taking a dream brick does not require a roll! However, at least one turn with the results of the brick-snatching needs to be taken before another brick can be taken again. There might be consequences otherwise. -Take enough bricks and there may be a surprise.
[ So Oberon has been taking a lot of dreams over the past few weeks. So many in fact, he's upgraded from a nest to fashioning himself a very fancy throne out of them here in Nekyia. Well, as fancy as a throne made of multicolored bricks can be. He's a king not a master Lego builder. They're not held together with any cement or glue either... That's totally not important, nope.
But here he is, irritated that y'all have barged in on his... bachelor pad. Or man cave. Don't tell his wife.
Gather up, yell at him, commiserate with others about how much sleep you guys have lost, prepare to kick fairy king ass. ]
Let's get things started! This motherflutter ain't too pleased to hear the one liners either, Haruka. Oberon waves his saber threateningly at the "intruders" cue loud intruders can almost hear that distinctive sound of a JRPG transition into a battle.
Oberon starts off with a Mazionga for the group (9, roll higher to dodge)! He then follows up with two Giant Slices, one for Shalem that misses(6) and Aubrey that just grazes her (11). Goddamn he's outta shape, maybe the dream bricks should have been shaped into a sofa for his lazy bum. ]
[Well, a certain someone couldn't dodge the Mazionga (7) because he was busy casting buffs, but at least the buff he cast was for defense. He's fine, relatively speaking... Nothing that needs a Dia.
Then he draws his katana with his tail, but he'll first send a flurry of origami birds at Oberon as an intimidation tactic, as all those origami birds explode into Fire damage when they hit, if they hit (6). If they don't, he won't be too fussed. Hopefully it does make Oberon focus on him though, rather than the other, squishier people. Better the Defender Operator rather than someone else.]
[ Yoon runs in hastily to attack, but he gets hit by Mazionga (3). Ouch. That doesn't stop him from dealing an attack of his own, and he uses Dragon's Claw (17) to deal that sweet nuclear damage! ]
[Haruka tries to dodge and... fails (6), which. Ow. Lightning hurts, but it's not too bad. Still, he's keep himself towards the backline, even if his attempts at Imperial Chain (9) isn't the best...]
[ Ough, that's quite a few nasty hits from the claws and giant slices! Whaddya mean his royal sword technique ain't even unique... Oh well, he has a backup plan to set in motion...! For now though, he has seen your guys' dreams, full of desires and fears... And y'all are not a fan of status effects. So...! He does two Nocturnal Slashes at the group (7, 14, roll for each to dodge) for a chance at y'all getting dizzy. But for some comedy, one of those Nocturnal Slashes hits Oberon back in the face thanks to Atem's Mirror Force! He is now definitely Dizzy, and thus fumbles his own Giant Slice on Shalem (1). ]
[ slides in here 20 years late because i, not josh, have been dead and dying ]
[ anyway he's somehow managed to dodge both nocturnal slashes (9, 16) and he's taking the chance while oberon is dizzied to blast him in the back with a kouga spell (12) ]
[Fuck dodging, apparently! Which he really should have been doing because he gets hit with both, and he gets Dizzied, staggering around with little coordination.
His Vicious Strike goes way wide (9), his momentum swinging the katana right into the throne of bricks instead. So close! Though he can't go for another one right now, he can't see much.]
[ Bro what the fuck status ailments suck. Oberon is still dizzy, and he makes an attempt to cast Kougaon twice on Joshua, with only one hit landing (14, 7). What follows is a somewhat pitiful Mazionga(beat a 7)...
Ugh, a King has his limits! Loathe he is to touch his lovely throne made from weeks of dream-stealing... He carefully takes off one of the bricks on top of the chair. Cowardly Jenga move. It's a dream of... Being off from a winning lottery ticket by one number in the front??? Damn. What he gets is an ailment clear, but he is stuck rolling with disadvantage next turn. ]
Argenti does manage to dodge the Mazionga (8), though when he attempts to rush the monster again, that doesn't go well (8), ending up in a miss in a huge way.
[ Well, this isn't too enjoyable. Thanks to that hilarious backfire, he is rolling on the bad side of Avrae/Rollerbot today.
Anyways, he's thinking he's in need of a heal for himself, so he's gonna use his Royal Authority to call upon a fine lady of his court for assistance! Is this a "skill" pulled out of his ass? Yes. But in terms of execution...
A Pixie arrives. She zips in to give him a Dia as requested, but she then flicks him on the nose. ]
How DARE you.
[ Off she zips away, I'm not adding extras to this fight. But since demons come from human negativity and conflict... And Oberon likes to charm human women on the side. Put two and two together. If he wants any support skill... That happens.
ANYWAYS back to the battle, thank you for enduring the comedy bit. He miserably misses Izou with a giant slice (3), but his Nocturnal Flash fares a bit better, kinda (beat an 11). Where did his third skill use go? The pixie took it. ]
[ Maybe it's because of that offense, but he's gonna take it out on the party... Single target hits this time!
Three casts of Kougaon at Izou, Aubrey, and Shalem... except of those pillars of light, only one manages to hit the mark, and it's Izou (14, 9, 2). Unfortunately, Bless is his weakness, so hopefully he can get patched up... Or fired up! Guy likes fighting. ]
[Dizzy is not so kind to her this turn - while she does try to get another Giant Slice in, she unfortunately aims for the Oberon in her swimming vision, not the actual butterfly man (18,3)]
You've been digging into my dreams, did you? I saw that-- that brick I took had Originite Primes... You're quite fortunate that I haven't any interest in reclaiming what I lost, revenge is not my style.
But you're also unfortunate because I sleep quite well. [And he's been sleeping quite well recently, despite this annoying sod swooping in and taking everyone's dreams.
Shalem flicks his tail and the katana it still hands a hold on, and leaps to take advantage of Oberon's fall. He remembers his ballet training, spinning on one foot despite the unstable mess of bricks and delivering a Giant Slice right to Oberon with the katana ( 2, 17).
And then Shalem delivers a nasty laugh, because even if he claims not to care for revenge, he does enjoy the violence and the feeling of a blade slashing his enemy. Satisfying!]
[ Oberon gets up shakily, trying to use his throne as support to get back up...
But thanks to all the other bricks nabbed from his fancy chair, and Joshua's stolen one being the final straw on the metaphorical camel's back... Oberon's throne of dreams leans, wobbles, then collapses into pieces.
Devastated, furious at the loss of his (brief) life's work... Oberon desperately lashes out, with a final hail of Maziongas on the party (roll higher than 8, 8, 4 to dodge).
As an added bonus for this last stretch/final beatdown... Everyone who pops into this turn rolls with advantage! For Joshua you get an extra d20, so pick the best out of 3 rolls. (Also, feel free to throw said fallen bricks at him if you still roll terribly for attacks, it's funny as fuck and I'm dying squirtle). ]
[Schneider is the ultimate dodge queen apparently (20, 17, 14) and then because it's funny, she picks up a brick and yeets it at Oberon's head (8). Get the fuck out of here and let her sleep!! She can't bake anymore bread like this!!!]
[ Should've prepared goofy boss exploding gif before I left for work. This cool one will do though, thanks Minato/Makoto.
The Unfaithful Dream-King's reign of terror has come to an end! He falls over dead and explodes into confetti. All the the dreams he's collected... okay, stolen— break free from from their rectangular containers and drift away from this place, hopefully back into the subconscious noggins of everyone who wants a good night's sleep.
Shalem inhales deeply, stretching his hands above his head and flailing his tail-- before remembering that he's still holding onto a katana with it, and extracting the sword to slide it back into its sheath. He's schooled himself back to normal, as if he'd never acted mad in the first place.
A couple of the dreams that escaped from their bricks return to him, and he rubs his chest, but he doesn't feel any different.]

Which means its his turn... He casts Mirror Force on himself to reflect any upcoming Giant Slice or other physical attack.
Sorry, he's not one for cool one-liners at the moment. He's focused on the fight... and maybe a little mad Haruka didn't agree to clean the dorm.]

Take a brick if you can! There's surely something else to this bloody throne of his if he's hoarding all these dreams.

But he's definitely weakened from what attacks can land on him...! On top of that, his throne is looking super unstable now like a jenga tower.
He makes an attempt to strike down everyone with a groupwide Nocturnal Flash, only to fumble so bad (1) he falls right off his shaky throne.
He's knocked down and this is a Persona-style fight. Anyone with a status ailment snaps out of it. BEAT HIS ASS. ]
