Kirumi Tojo's Palace | The Ultimate Maid's Failures

By now everyone may be used to find themselves in bizarre locations, between going into palaces and visiting Nekyia. It might not come as a surprise that it has happened again.

What might come as a surprise, though...is how empty this place is.

All around you there's nothing more than a large, gray, featureless expanse. In the distance there seem to be bars, curving upwards to gather so, so high above you, possibly hundreds of miles above, so high it’s hard to distinguish.

It’s a cage. So unfathomably large. You could escape, were you to get to the edges of the cage, but...it would take forever. No matter how you look at it, you're trapped. The atmosphere is so...hopeless. Devoid of anything even remotely positive.

Not that you want to hang around for long, do you? After all, this is someone's palace. Not a place to stick around at. What to do, though?

It’s all so...empty. Silent. Featureless. A flat expanse of hard gray tiles.

Gather together, everyone. Gather and choose a direction. North, East, West, South. All directions look completely identical, but could it affect your time in this place, somehow? Probably not. But all treks start with the first step. Perhaps, if you get moving, you'll progress?

[Yoon proves his constitution isn't as horrible as Shalem says it is, because he manages to climb up. Bones chain together, to attempt to grab Yoon, but Kainé below breaks that before it can try to harm Yoon, and it doesn't form again in time to stop him.

Yoon gets to the second leg. This one and two more ahead!

The thread Yoon is using is very close to the wall. Behind him, the wall opens, and there's Monokuma]

Oi, do me a favor and let go.

[And he proceeds to literally reach and poke Yoon on the torso with a claw. He's trying to make Yoon drop from three stories high by poking at his nerves and make his hands let go! Hope luck is favorable to you, Yoon!]

[ He owes Kaine, but he's going to vehemently swat Monokuma's stinky claw away and succeed (15)! ]

Tch, get your dirty hands off me.

[kandata]

Oi, no!

[Yoon's protest made Monokuma try to hook his claw onto Yoon's clothes, only to get his paw swatted away. With a growl, he's forced to retreat lest he falls down.

Yoon gets up to the third leg. This one and one more ahead of you, Yoon!

From a wall down at the second leg, a large saw appears, inching towards the thread. Of course, it cuts right through the thin thing. Having tested that, the saw slowly starts inching upwards, in Yoon's direction.

This is serious! Monokuma is out for blood!]

[ Wow. He doesn't like that. Hm! Bad. Very bad! But Yoon does not panic get to him and keeps ascending (12). ]

Come on...

[ He will prepare his attack if the saw gets near, and if it does he will try to slice it with Dragon's Claw. I don't know how he's doing this ]

[Through the power of Persona is how! Dragon's Claw doesn't break the saw, but it does hit in a way that makes it be in an angle, stopping it from ascending in Yoon's direction. It's going to bother someone else now, but hey, at least it's not Yoon's problem anymore!

Yoon is able to ascend to the last leg. You're almost done! Above, Monokuma peers from the edge of the pit]

I had enough of you all.

[And he grabs Yoon's thread, successfully breaking it. He tilts his head, holding the thread Yoon is at. The look he gives Yoon is mocking, threatening. If Yoon doesn't act fast, Monokuma will drop the thread, intending to have Yoon fall to his death]

[ The thread breaks. Yoon gasps, and then he's yanked, still below Monokuma, looking up at him with a sharp expression. There's undoubtedly fear, but the thought of Monokuma continuing to torment everyone is what drives him to act.

Yoon's glare turns deadly. It almost rivals Monokuma's expression, but he's had enough. Senseless violence and cruelty and for what? Nothing. Nothing at all, and only for Sayaka and Kirumi to suffer...

He lunges forward and shoves his claw into Monokuma's torso (20). For once, he feels no ounce of remorse. ]

[Monokuma didn't see that coming. He had been underestimating Yoon, that's for sure. The shock makes him drop the thread, but that's too late -- Yoon is hanging from Monokuma himself, and through the power of This Being a Palace, the difference in weights doesn't make him tip over. Instead, he jumps backwards, inadvertently dragging Yoon enough for Yoon to be able to climb to safety.

Growling, Monokuma disappears before Yoon can attack again, Monokuma has other people to harass -- but Yoon is now safe]
