Kirumi Tojo's Palace | The Ultimate Maid's Failures

By now everyone may be used to find themselves in bizarre locations, between going into palaces and visiting Nekyia. It might not come as a surprise that it has happened again.
What might come as a surprise, though...is how empty this place is.
All around you there's nothing more than a large, gray, featureless expanse. In the distance there seem to be bars, curving upwards to gather so, so high above you, possibly hundreds of miles above, so high it’s hard to distinguish.
It’s a cage. So unfathomably large. You could escape, were you to get to the edges of the cage, but...it would take forever. No matter how you look at it, you're trapped. The atmosphere is so...hopeless. Devoid of anything even remotely positive.
Not that you want to hang around for long, do you? After all, this is someone's palace. Not a place to stick around at. What to do, though?
It’s all so...empty. Silent. Featureless. A flat expanse of hard gray tiles.
Gather together, everyone. Gather and choose a direction. North, East, West, South. All directions look completely identical, but could it affect your time in this place, somehow? Probably not. But all treks start with the first step. Perhaps, if you get moving, you'll progress?

Bad luck! The Exisal that's floating upwards ridiculously brushes against the thread Soujuurou is holding onto. The thread gets entangled with one of the Exisal's legs, and while it tries to float away, the thread shakes, threatening to make Soujuurou fall down.
Down below, the water churns, and bones arrange themselves as spikes, preparing to receive Soujuurou and inflict some gnarly injuries if he were to fall!]

he knows how dangerous it is to lose focus while climbing, so he grits his teeth and tries to continue going upwards. ]

It takes a few seconds, but the Exisal stops pulling from the thread, apparently deciding to just stay there and do nothing else. It enables Soujuurou to keep going up, onto the second leg. This one and two more remain!
You're three stories high, and by now Soujuurou will see something that's not welcome: a few ants. They look like harmless ants, not the biting or the stinging type....but in a situation like this one, any ants is bad. If it walks on you, that's going to be greatly uncomfortable and distracting.
Soujuurou hasn't been defeated by bears, as far as I know. He better not be defeated by ants! Roll away!]

soujuurou is keenly and consciously aware of the ants crawling on him, but he pays them no mind (20). with his goal still firm, he pushes through the distractions and continues climbing up. ]

Monokuma, though, isn't jealous by Soujuurou's capacity to focus. He, glaring at Soujuurou with anger, looks behind him]
Hey, you! Move your asses!
[Two, three, four Monokuma jump from the edge of the pit above, in freefall towards Soujuurou...and they're beeping. The first one explodes prematurely, shockwaves and a ball of fire shaking Soujuurou, but it's the other three that might prove more dangerous.
Modern weaponry vs the boy from the mountains, let's go! Good luck]

the extra monokumas are absolutely a surprise. for the first one, he hangs on just fine, but for the subsequent ones he is not so lucky. the fire burns and the shrapnel from the explosives dig into him. somehow, it impulses him to hang on tighter to the rope. ]
no subject
Hey, boonies boy! That wasn't all!
[And then Monokuma jumps down himself, to fall on top of Soujuurou and attempt to maul him!
FISTFIGHT THIS BEAR TOO IF YOU CAN SOUJUUROU]
no subject
but he has an idea. a stupid one, but whatever. all of this is stupid anyway. all he needs to do is time his movements as correctly as possible.
as monokuma approaches, soujuurou reaches out with one arm, intending to hit the bear in the chest with his palm open, with the intention of knocking him to the side and using that reaction force to sway away from the bear. (13) ]

[Monokuma thinks it's very unfair Soujuurou didn't let himself be gnawed on. These teeth need something to bite on! But no, instead Monokuma is falling down, Soujuurou successfully fighting him.
The coast is clear, Soujuurou! You'll reach the last leg! Look at all your friends above at the edge of the pit, you're so close!]
no subject
but worry not, monokuma! because he can still curse soujuurou from the void as he rolled a mere (8). ]

...it's Mudoon.
Monokuma isn't playing around. He goes straight for an instakill attack. Around Soujuurou, the runes and straw doll with nails that symbolize Mudoon materialize, intending to drive nails onto Soujuurou. One after another, they hit the straw doll, Soujuurou feeling the pressure all over his body. If it gets any stronger, it could perform the instakill...
...but it doesn't. Even though it was a successful roll, the Mudoon already is an unreliable spell. It was painful, dizzying, but it wasn't deadly. Still, the success means he'll feel faint, very faint.
Will you be able to get to the edge of the pit by your own power, Soujuurou? Or will you be too weakened for that and need help?]
no subject
in other words, even though the pained scream is genuine and so is the feeling of painful, dizzying sickness, he continues pushing himself up as if there was no other option (13). because, to soujuurou, there is no other option. he needs to get to the top, because the other option is death and he simply does not want to die. no matter what, he does not want it to end here. ]

Rest well, man from the boonies. You deserve a break]
