post palace takeout! [week 5]

( at some point a bedraggled lot in yukatas manage to make their way to the dorm, shower and patch themselves up. and then mafuyu makes a very earnest request that they all go out for dinner, and, well, apparently many struggle to refuse her.

this is how they find themselves in something akin to a denny's or an ihop at like, midnight.

You did, too. I know it's your job but... you also deserve recognition and praise for it. I don't think we could have finished it as quickly without you.

I am used to unusual situations, to some extent. I remember you felt nervous about it all -- yet you did well. That is what needs to be acknowledged here.

... I was, yes. I'm not a fighter, by nature. But I want to share this moment with you as well, as an ally and as a friend.

[Kirumi you sure can't let go of the formalities all that easily, eh?]

Please do not mistake my behavior for aloofness -- I am truly grateful you wish to share this moment like that.

I know. I just... you remind me of myself at home? Always working for others. So I want to make sure you have time for yourself or for friends, as a friend, too.

( she'll scoot in a bit so kirumi can sit- )

The coffee has a nice aroma. I don't know what teas they have, though.

I do not find it easy to socialize. While I am a high school student, my work tends to absorb me most of the time.

[She's more than capable of socializing! But when it comes to personal friendships, well, that's harder. Kirumi is used to keeping a certain distance from others, after all.

Let her juuuuust take some coffee, checking it. Oh, she finds it...dreadful. Wasted potential in this coffee. In her head she already ponders how she could brew better coffee. Still, at least she's drinking it!]

You should order something special for yourself. Something you do not get to have often.

I think I understand. I'm on the student council, in a club, attend extra lessons and then have a music group- it's not the same, but I'm often pretty busy myself.

... Almost anything here might fall under the umbrella. My mother prefers traditional recipes, and I don't go out often.

That is similar enough. The weight of many responsibilities is the same even when it takes different forms.
