post palace takeout! [week 5]

( at some point a bedraggled lot in yukatas manage to make their way to the dorm, shower and patch themselves up. and then mafuyu makes a very earnest request that they all go out for dinner, and, well, apparently many struggle to refuse her.

this is how they find themselves in something akin to a denny's or an ihop at like, midnight.

I have a feeling people would enjoy those more for the aesthetics than the flavor.

At the same time, I'm curious if they taste any different from a normal pancake.

Mm... if it's for aesthetics, they could try a bit harder. But I'm sure kids have fun with them.

What are you thinking of trying?

I suppose a breakfast would make sense at this place, even though it would be very early at this hour.

...I wish the pancakes were more savory than sweet. They would be closer to what I've had back in my district.

I think after days like today, following certain social constructs is a bit silly. They do have dinner options, though...

[ Hearing that from Mafuyu has him pause. She is a very... aware girl. He recalled she also had experience in areas like this, even outside of Palace experiences with Aubrey and Izou, it seemed like. ]

Pajeon are made with rice flour, scallions, and some kind of meat.

That sounds good though. My country has a savory pancake too- okonomiyaki, it has cabbage, meat or seafood.

I do like the sound of okonomiyaki. Unfortunately, I might have to order a savory breakfast with some pancakes on the side as a meager substitute.

I... Would travel for work and cannot cook for myself. The best I can do then is remember the basics of what I found ideal about it.

This place seems to be a blend of a couple cultures, so maybe I can find an okonomiyaki stand for you.

Do you simply not have the time? Or is it something else?
