post palace takeout! [week 5]

( at some point a bedraggled lot in yukatas manage to make their way to the dorm, shower and patch themselves up. and then mafuyu makes a very earnest request that they all go out for dinner, and, well, apparently many struggle to refuse her.

this is how they find themselves in something akin to a denny's or an ihop at like, midnight.

Does the rainbow make them better?

[ She is trying to understand why these pancakes are multi-coloured. It seems a little silly to her. ]

I wouldn't know. It's fun to look at, but it seems like... a lot of pancake, really.

They seem like they would be too soft.

[ Yes, that's her issue with them. Hardly interesting for her, and she figures Richard would also prefer something a little more interesting. ]

Mm... I feel like they could have incorporated different colored fruits into the batter for a better impact. But I suppose that must be a lot of extra work.

It would be more interesting if they had, I think.

[ She looks at the menu again. ]

...Why are these called "buffalo wings" when buffaloes do not have wings?

It's named for the sauce- it was made in a city named Buffalo.

( quietly, because she's seeing how bad eli and izou get. )

[ Sunrise is wondering why Mafuyu is speaking quietly, but she'll find out soon enough. ]

I see. I think I would like to try some, too. Maybe Mr. Richard would them as well...

Is there anything else that would be interesting to try?

When my friends go to diners, Mizuki always gets a plate of fries... There's also sampler plates to try many things. I prefer to go by texture than anything, so I'll either get a crêpe or an omelet.

Oh, you also prefer texture?

[ "Also", as if Sunrise can't only go by texture and spiciness to determine preferences. ]

Yes. I have a zinc deficiency that manifests in something akin to dysgeusia- but instead of a rancid taste, I don't taste anything at all.

[ ...Zinc, as in the metal??? ]

I see. I am incapable of tasting anything too.

I never thought I'd meet someone else who didn't.

In my case, it is for a different reason. I believe Ms. Velvet said something like "Your tastebuds are probably just straight-up broken".

...This is my first time meeting someone else who cannot taste too.

Well. At least we can point out the interesting-feeling things to each other, now.

If the omelets are done right, they'll have different things layered in the egg, so there'll be an abundance of different textures, especially if you get it loaded. The crêpes are the same.

I don't know. It doesn't really effect me.
