post palace takeout! [week 5]

( at some point a bedraggled lot in yukatas manage to make their way to the dorm, shower and patch themselves up. and then mafuyu makes a very earnest request that they all go out for dinner, and, well, apparently many struggle to refuse her.

this is how they find themselves in something akin to a denny's or an ihop at like, midnight.

How the heck do they make the pancakes that many colors?

Food coloring, I imagine. But five dyed pancakes is a bit much...

( she moves to show him the menu's photo: five pancakes, each a different color of the rainbow, and a white, cloud-like topping of some sort. )

They got dyes you can put in food now!? I mean, I know you can use vegetables as dye but I dunno anything that bright blue.

Oh, yes. Some are entirely natural- like my friend likes to make her rice pink with beet juice... and some are synthetic but safe for consumption. Most of them don't impact the taste, either.

"Synthetic"... that means it was made by a buncha squares in a lab or something, right?

Mmhm. Probably from other types of foods or flowers, but I don't know for sure.

... Is there anything that's caught your eye?

Hm... Well Eli said Kirumi would make us steak later so I don't need ta eat it here... I dunno what a buffalo is, but if it's "wings" that's gotta be meat, right? I wanna try that!

( he seems happy. that's... really nice, actually. she will support his foodie adventures. )

[I looked it up, it was invented in the 1960s. Alas.]

But yeah, that's the best part about eatin' out in a group, right? You can get all sorts of stuff. Plus as long as yer not the oldest one there you don't gotta pay for it.

Oh, well, I certainly don't have to worry about that.

( she even quirks a bit of a smile!! and then she thinks a bit. )

If anyone gets anything with fries, I am obligated to steal a few. Its what Mizuki would want.

Mizuki a friend of yours from home?

Yes. She, Kanade, Ena and I are in a music group together. Whenever we have a new release, we go to a family diner to celebrate.

Ah, you did say you write songs. S'kinda hard to imagine you up on a stage, though.

[He doesn't mean this as an insult, just an observation.]

We don't perform on stage very often... we mostly record our songs and upload them online. Kanade's health isn't entirely the best, so she probably couldn't handle performances like that, anyways.

[Most of the time in FGO the rest of the world is temporarily destroyed so there isn't much internet happening.]

On the internet. Like...

( she's gonna take the game-granted phone and just. show him the internet. youtube. different news sites. things like that. )

Oh! Right, Fujimaru complains sometimes about how the internet don't work because of the rest of the world bein' bleached.
