post palace takeout! [week 5]

( at some point a bedraggled lot in yukatas manage to make their way to the dorm, shower and patch themselves up. and then mafuyu makes a very earnest request that they all go out for dinner, and, well, apparently many struggle to refuse her.

this is how they find themselves in something akin to a denny's or an ihop at like, midnight.

So while McGillis isn't particularly inclined to be a great conversationalist tonight, he's still curious enough to indulge her in menu talk. Show those pancakes. ]

That seems like they would taste mostly of food dye.

There's not even much variety... They're all the same pancake, but colorful. It would be boring.

( she almost huffs childishly. it would be ridiculous and incredibly unlike her if she wasn't exhausted. )

It would be filling, at least. But essentially, there's no reason to get it over the normal pancake menu.

There's crêpes and omelets, too. They sound better, I think... more texture.

I agree. I'm personally eyeing the waffles, but I can't deny the crepes are also tempting.

Mm... The flavor doesn't matter to me, so something with more unique components together sounds best.

( hence the different foods that are both layered and have different things mixed or laid within. )

It's unusual to not have any preference there.

... I can't taste anything. I haven't been able to for a few years now.

[ McGillis from the past might have enjoyed having a condition such as that. When half your food is spoiled in some way, not tasting seems like a mercy. But as he is now, indulging in candy when he can, he is grateful to be able to experience flavors that used to be hidden to him. Not tasting anything is... ]

That's an unusual condition. Do you have any preferences for textures, instead?

I think that things with a hidden texture is fun. Like... those candies with a hard shell and a soft filling, or crunchy bits in something soft.
