[ soujuurou doesn’t know what that is either. an emotion, from what he can gather, but the look he gives mcgillis is the same one as always— just a little dazed and confused, taken aback by the complexity of the world he has been thrust into. after a few seconds, he nods to himself with his own, simple conclusion— it must be to feel sad for the dead.
he thinks about how, in comparison, no one in the mountains would have batted an eye to this. jordi would have been just another dead, forgotten by everyone by the time that the sun rose again. soujuurou was never good at doing that, however— that’s also a failing on his part.
but now he wonders— does that count as mourning? ]
Huh, so that’s normal here?
[ selfishly, soujuurou realizes that that’s a comforting thought. ]
[Fray is here, still holding the sword he used so freely to injure Lumen in the palace. His grip is tight and it takes him a long moment to settle the blade on his back again.]
...Yes. That would be for the best.
[He won't stop McGillis either; feel free to carry Jordi.]
I was thinking the same. We're going to need to properly speak about our experience with these mindscapes too, if we don't want to lose more of our number to them later on.
What do you think about a ceremony with a discussion afterwards?
[Under normal circumstances, that line would normally be accompanied by a cheeky grin, but there’s no playfulness here.]
Don’t have a problem with it, but we should probably move the discussion a room over once the ceremony’s finished. I can see some people wanting to stick around and mourn for longer before getting down to business.
[Or perhaps there might even be some who’d prefer to not discuss today’s events at all, if the subject is still too raw.]
[ That is a good point from someone who is slightly more emotionally attuned than McGillis himself is. ]
I can handle informing everyone of what happened, and I can handle organizing a meeting. But the actual funeral should be lead by somebody else.
I'm a military man, and not spiritually inclined. I don't think I'd be particularly soothing.
[ He knows what someone should say in theory and he could probably do say it with a convincing enough pathos, but it might still ring hollow. He isn't particularly keen on finding out. ]
I'm out too. Never really knew the guy, so I doubt he'd want a eulogy from me.
[Their first and last conversation also ended with the virtual equivalent of Jordi storming out of the room, so there's that too. There's a short pause here as he considers the options here, but there is one person that stands out for this, considering what they'd seen in the lighthouse.]
...How 'bout the knight? That dumbass can wax poetic about anything, so he's probably got at least a few words to spare for a friend.
He would certainly have words... more than a few, I'd wager. But he's also extremely dedicated to his own religion, and Jordi was a priest in his world. It might cause offense.
[ Not that Jordi is going to mind now, being dead and all. But others might find it tasteless. ]
It's good to keep him in mind just in case though.
Kinda slim pickings, though. Who else do we even got?
[The teens are out, it seems shitty to put this on them unless one of them really is determined to volunteer. And unfortunately he knows basically nothing about Jordi's circle of acquaintances, so. Hm.]
It's not a formal ceremony, so having it be someone close to him makes more sense to me.
Wouldn't normally think you'd need to talk much for that kinda act, but hell, not like I've ever spoken to him. You really think he's the heartfelt speech type though?

[ McGillis doesn't particularly care about the callousness anyway. Right now, practical thought is what is called for. ]
Let's pick him up, enter the Nekiya, and then exit again right after at our dorm.
[ And unless stopped, he is going to reach to actually take the body. ]
... we can hold a funeral first, if it would help people.

I believe a funeral would be nice to have.

[ you see, he doesn’t… ]
Sure. If you think it would help.

[ Not him, he has never mourned a day in his life--- not actively allowed himself, anyway.
But looking at the sobbing kids around, they are going to need some kind of catharsis here. ]

He knows that funerals have basically fallen out of practice in deeper space, but Soujuurou is from earth, isn't he? ]
It is, yes. The rites may differ, but the sentiment is the same.

[ … ]
I guess we never had time for them, back in the mountains.
[ oh well. ]
I’m going to go check on the others. I’ll catch up with you guys.

...Yes. That would be for the best.

[ Unlike the other teenagers, Sunrise doesn't seem too devastated - and if she's shaken, then she's doing a very good job of keeping it together. ]
I...do not know what his beliefs are, but I am comfortable with handling the dead.

[Mina’s going to be so good at corpse disposal after this though, like damn.]
We’ll have to break the news to everyone else, too. At least a funeral might give them the chance to sort their feelings out.

We were roommates, but we are both the unobtrusive kind, so I do not actually know who he spent most of his time with.
[ They had a very pleasant arrangement of living next to each other and taking up as little space as possible. He liked it. ]
Celeste...? He's a performer, so public speaking would not be much of an issue. He might also be too distraught, however.

[This palace certainly showcased what Céleste could do, but Aaron doesn't actually know much about him aside from bits and pieces he's seen from the network.]
