WEEKS 5 & 6
WEEKS 5 & 6
THE CALM BEFORE...
- The city has more or less bounced back after the disastrous Go-Kart race. While there are still some people recovering, no one’s hospitalized and there were thankfully no casualties - although there were more injuries than might have been expected, on accounts of some brawls that broke out among the competitors and the audience.
In spite of that, the Shopping District is feeling distinctly friendlier these days. Shopkeepers will take notice of repeat customers and be openly happy to see the better-behaved ones. They may even cut characters a discount on the sly for their patronship!
Perhaps as a result, the Nekyia Shopping District has become clear of haze much like the Nekyia dormitory started. While Shadows still lurk there, they are much fewer in number. Should characters choose to explore some more, they will find that the haze has become thinner in the Nekyia Entertainment District, allowing them to work on cleaning out the various Shadows that reside in that area.
WHAT THE FLUFF.
- Meanwhile, back at the dormitory…
…trouble is amiss, but the fun kind of trouble.
On Sunday, September 1st, it seems like there's an event for pets being hosted at the parks near the dorm! That's fine and dandy, but the trouble comes from owners being careless and letting their animals run loose. That's right, some of them have been given free rein to explore, and a number of them have taken a liking to the dormitory!
You might be able to blame Dawn – that cat from the Nekyia who also appears to give you strange items! – because she's got bowls of cat food around her that she's feasting on. It's attracted some pet cats and strays alike. As for the dogs, well, they like people. Enough said.
Why not treat yourself to some animal therapy while you can? And if not, wrangling any animals that manage to get free works too!
SUMMER DAYS.
- As summer break draws to a close, the Arcade is desperate to not only redeem its reputation, but also squeeze the last bit of pocket change out of people while they’re still on vacation. As a result, there is an ongoing discount on point cards allowing people to play competitive arcade games - Classics like Mirmo Kart and Street Slayer, as well as shinier rhythm games like Dancerun Stardom and LaiLai Universe Plus!
Of course, the hope is that characters drawn in by the arcade games will stick around for the other offerings - karaoke, bowling, ufo catchers, and even a bar (for those 21+!) And if none of these attractions are enough to catch a character’s eye, there’s plenty of other activities to be found in Carnation Court. Besides the restaurants and bars, there are many themed pop-up cafés and events, and even a few empty buildings with a very reasonable lease fee, should someone want to run an event of their own...
While the mood isn’t as open and friendly as the shopping district, it’s still worth a visit to relax and unwind a bit, preferably alongside Braphine’s other chosen. After all, there are Shadows looming on the horizon...
MESSAGE FROM YOUR RA!
Huh...? That's weird. It looks like a really big Shadow took up residence in the Nekyia. Hold on, I'll set things up so the app will give you the coordinates! Could you please check it out?

He has great faith in Fray's capabilities as always, and... ]
I am most gladdened to be first on your list to consider for this endeavor! And it is an honor to fight by your side.
[ Pride and warmth equally swell within him at this. First things first would be tracking these guys down, though... ]
...I assume you're also prepared in regards to supplies? Oh, and shall we attempt to brainstorm a strategy?
[ They are powerful opponents even if Argenti's favorite strategy is to overwhelm his enemies with his ~knightly capabilities~
(By which we mean attacking with his lance. A lot.) ]
no subject
I am, yes. A strategy would be beneficial - if it's possible to take them on one at a time, that would be ideal. We'll run into more trouble the more of them there are to contend with.
[So maybe we can try a stealthy approach? Just two dudes in armor. Sneaking around. It'll be fine!!]
no subject
Also this is incredibly funny to imagine. Them sneaking around but clanging everywhere and just the Frosts looking incredulous - as if their expressions can change - at this in their general direction. ]
One at a time, you say?
Perhaps they can be potentially lured away from the general group? It is entirely possible that they'd be all together, yes?
[ Shouting would get all of their attentions at once, so maybe they can improvise. He begins to also just begin to lead them because they can talk and strategize until they see these folk... ]
no subject
That's exactly what I'm thinking. If they can be lured away, they'll be much easier to defeat on their own. It will also allow us to see exactly what they can do without engaging the group as a whole and rushing in blind.
[Off we go! Lead the way, Argenti.]
no subject
Though, Argenti looks delighted that the both of them are on the same page again. He hums a little as they walk, before he quiets, remembering they should be kind of stealthy just in case before the Lure tactic. ]
Exactly! Though, how shall we get the one to be lead away? I suppose one way would be getting into range.
But therein lies the problem, yes? If the others are cloistered close together that may by default have us also in their range as well! Though I do wonder if tossing something may cause only one of them to investigate the source of the commotion...
no subject
[Good job, Argenti, you solved that one!! He was going to suggest throwing something at one of them, which would probably just piss the whole group off...]
It's worth a try, anyway. Let's see how it goes, shall we?
no subject
I have no doubts that Idrila shall bless our attempts brilliantly!
[ Argenti brightens even more to the point of the usual sparkles and some remnants of rose petals float up briefly...but, anyway, he calms down and then right up ahead they can spot some of those enemies grouped together.
...
He's not a man who hesitates so it probably is going to be ridiculous that he seamlessly gets out his spear and tosses it straight into a wall nearby the cluster. And it kind of is stuck there temporarily.
Somehow,
IdrilaLady Fortuna shines down, because that only brings one out of three of the Jack Frosts out from their little cluster to investigate...looking at it all confused-like. Meanwhile, Argenti looks back at Fray, sparkling at him. ]There is the one dastardly minion! Shall we strike together at the same time?
no subject
Of course. Do try not to fall behind.
[You can practically hear the smirk. With that said, Fray wastes no time in lunging at the little guy, giant blade in hand. Surprise carries the attack and the poor Jack Frost doesn't have a chance to dodge it (19).]
no subject
I shall not fall behind! Though, that being said, I hope you can keep up your momentum, my fellow midnight knight.
[ Then, he turns around, swinging his spear, which barely makes its mark on the enemy, though it could be worse (10) ]
no subject
idk I don't personathat strikes Fray's armor for minimal damage (12). Fray scoffs and moves to run the poor little guy through, which... he succeeds at?? (20) Well damn, that poor Jack Frost deserved better, yikes.]Easy. Shall we try to draw another one out the same way?
no subject
It seems you have beat me to it. I will have to endeavor to ensure I do not fall short of my own claims.
But, as it worked out before it shall work once again!
[ Let's see what's in the cards today. He pulls back one arm and throws his spear into a different wall next to a different Jack Frost.
...Which gets one Jack Frost to head over, once again. How this keeps happening is anyone's guess! ]
no subject
Anyway, Fray nods at that and watches as Argenti manages to pull the same trick off again. And it works! Look at that, the dice are favoring us today. The little guy is definitely more wary than the previous one, however, as he hee ho's once mo(re) and Fray's attack swings wide, missing as he jumps out of the way (6). Look sharp, Argenti!]
no subject
As for Argenti, well, he gets out his spear and then, kind of off-balance as he has had to extract it from a wall, manages to miss the Jack Frost, swing going wide (4)
All the same it decides to try to pelt them both with ice magic. Rude! ]
no subject
no subject
He does raise his head to shoot a heated glare at the monster that's pretty much laughing with a 'hee hee ho'. At this he feels back of neck and front face completely flaring with embarrassment. Urgh... ]
no subject
no subject
[ Apparently, that is truly the first and final straw.
Argenti makes a remarkable recovery when he rises to his feet, and immediately skewers the Jack Frost on his spear (17) in a singular, yet talented flourish. ]
And that takes care of that! I believe we've two enemies remaining, dear Fray. One Jack Frost and the Black Frost itself! Shall we proceed with the strategy once more? Or do we rush in to ambush them both?
no subject
We should be able to handle both at once, but we may as well attempt the strategy again to see if it works. If both of them approach, we should attempt to divide their attention. The weaker one should be taken out first, however.
[So basically someone's gotta pull aggro on the big guy but hit the little one. Shouldn't be too hard?]
no subject
You are most certainly correct. Let us see what results from it!
[ Argenti tosses his spear straight into a wall, and...just like that, it manages to be stuck in the wall nearby the smaller duo of shadows now. Somehow...it keeps working out.
Especially since the dice say that with a one out of two, this tactic is victorious again, with the Jack Frost hopping over curiously. It seems he is very good at luring certain enemies over?? Argenti is sparkling at this, looking right at the other man. ]
Look at that! I have succeeded once more in the lure!
