WEEKS 5 & 6

WEEKS 5 & 6
THE CALM BEFORE...
The city has more or less bounced back after the disastrous Go-Kart race. While there are still some people recovering, no one’s hospitalized and there were thankfully no casualties - although there were more injuries than might have been expected, on accounts of some brawls that broke out among the competitors and the audience.

In spite of that, the Shopping District is feeling distinctly friendlier these days. Shopkeepers will take notice of repeat customers and be openly happy to see the better-behaved ones. They may even cut characters a discount on the sly for their patronship!

Perhaps as a result, the Nekyia Shopping District has become clear of haze much like the Nekyia dormitory started. While Shadows still lurk there, they are much fewer in number. Should characters choose to explore some more, they will find that the haze has become thinner in the Nekyia Entertainment District, allowing them to work on cleaning out the various Shadows that reside in that area.

WHAT THE FLUFF.

    Meanwhile, back at the dormitory…

…trouble is amiss, but the fun kind of trouble.

On Sunday, September 1st, it seems like there's an event for pets being hosted at the parks near the dorm! That's fine and dandy, but the trouble comes from owners being careless and letting their animals run loose. That's right, some of them have been given free rein to explore, and a number of them have taken a liking to the dormitory!

You might be able to blame Dawn – that cat from the Nekyia who also appears to give you strange items! – because she's got bowls of cat food around her that she's feasting on. It's attracted some pet cats and strays alike. As for the dogs, well, they like people. Enough said.

Why not treat yourself to some animal therapy while you can? And if not, wrangling any animals that manage to get free works too!
SUMMER DAYS.

As summer break draws to a close, the Arcade is desperate to not only redeem its reputation, but also squeeze the last bit of pocket change out of people while they’re still on vacation. As a result, there is an ongoing discount on point cards allowing people to play competitive arcade games - Classics like Mirmo Kart and Street Slayer, as well as shinier rhythm games like Dancerun Stardom and LaiLai Universe Plus!

Of course, the hope is that characters drawn in by the arcade games will stick around for the other offerings - karaoke, bowling, ufo catchers, and even a bar (for those 21+!) And if none of these attractions are enough to catch a character’s eye, there’s plenty of other activities to be found in Carnation Court. Besides the restaurants and bars, there are many themed pop-up cafés and events, and even a few empty buildings with a very reasonable lease fee, should someone want to run an event of their own...

While the mood isn’t as open and friendly as the shopping district, it’s still worth a visit to relax and unwind a bit, preferably alongside Braphine’s other chosen. After all, there are Shadows looming on the horizon...

MESSAGE FROM YOUR RA!
Huh...? That's weird. It looks like a really big Shadow took up residence in the Nekyia. Hold on, I'll set things up so the app will give you the coordinates! Could you please check it out?
COMMISSIONS
NEKYIA COMMISSIONS
FETCH QUEST
I messed up…Mom's gonna be so mad at me for losing track of her dog at that event…

There's a shadow in the Nekyia that's taken the form of a Level 25 Nue. It seems to be growling in despair, and echoing the thoughts of this commissioner. Apparently this person lost his mother's dog at the event and hasn't made an effort to find it yet. Fight the Nue and try to knock some sense into this guy, either by shaking some sense into him or by defeating him; they've got a dog to find, after all.

YOU KNOW THAT WE'RE TOXIC
Leave, Braphine. Leave this world to the people. We don't need anyone. We've only got ourselves.

Seems like someone who might be involved with the vandalism incident might have a shadow here, too, in the form of a Level 24 Mokoi. She sounds like she's going to do something more extreme to the place if she isn't stopped. However, be careful… characters hit with Dazzler from this particular Shadow cannot be cured with magic, and must instead be healed by another person’s touch. It’s time to get cozy with your companions.

GET HEE OUTTA HERE
A powerful Shadow has appeared in the Nekyia and needs to be eliminated asap! Black Frost is a tenacious (if cute?) little guy, and can only be fought after taking down three Level 28 Jack Frosts beforehand. Make sure you ration out your spiritual energy and healing spells, this little Shadow can pack a real punch, being at Level 30! That said, for those who manage to defeat him, he should drop a mascot trading card. Turn this in to the priest or priestess at the temple to unlock a bonus new skill for your Persona!

(OOC: Please turn in your threads for this commission on the rewards page to unlock the new skill, which is separate from your leveling skillset! You may select one elemental skill for light damage to apply permanently to your character's persona. When turning in the skill will be effective immediately once rewarded.)
REAL WORLD COMMISSIONS
FINE DINING
Various restaurants, from fast food and fast casual grub to the fine dining establishments in Carnation Court are trying to outdo each other in terms of promotion, and as such are on the prowl for any free hands to help entice potential customers with free samples and food challenges galore. Grab a buddy and help hawk some bite-sized treats! Or maybe try to beat the record for the biggest burger ever eaten, if you dare.
ALL HANDS ON STAGE
A number of performers were involved in the Go-Kart incident and have yet to fully recover enough to do their parts for the show! For the next two weeks, the Sunset Grand Theater is looking for understudies for roles, as well as stage hands who are willing to ninja around and maneuver props and sets for the actors. The production is a fanciful tale of starcrossed lovers, evil stepmothers, political feuds, and for some reason, a dragon.
PREPARE THE PETS
The pet store in Vermillion Village is looking for some volunteers to help socialize the pets through playtime, as well as feed some of the more persnickety ones. Those who want to pet some adorable balls of fluff and energy can work with the kittens, puppies, and bunny rabbits, while those who are brave enough can try their hand at feeding the reptiles their meals of live crickets and frozen rats.
OOC
READ ME!!!!
Welcome to your log for Weeks 5 and 6! Feel free to use this log for any developments that happen during the next two weeks. There will be no log next week, but we will still be posting a small mini-event on Saturday.
For plotting, please feel free to head over to this post on the OOC comm to post your plotting top levels.
For Nekyia commissions, you can assume that the Shadows will respawn until they've been beaten enough times to go back to normal.
Palaces start this week! Please refer to the Palace schedule here and sign ups for this week's capped Palace here

[ Argenti can hear the warm smile a mile away!!

Also this is incredibly funny to imagine. Them sneaking around but clanging everywhere and just the Frosts looking incredulous - as if their expressions can change - at this in their general direction. ]

One at a time, you say?

Perhaps they can be potentially lured away from the general group? It is entirely possible that they'd be all together, yes?

[ Shouting would get all of their attentions at once, so maybe they can improvise. He begins to also just begin to lead them because they can talk and strategize until they see these folk... ]

[listen,,, fray has gotten good at sneaking up on the warrior of light that has to count for something,,,]

That's exactly what I'm thinking. If they can be lured away, they'll be much easier to defeat on their own. It will also allow us to see exactly what they can do without engaging the group as a whole and rushing in blind.

[Off we go! Lead the way, Argenti.]

[personal profile] beautifulknight 2024-09-06 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
[ HELP Fray...well, it probably levels up the stealth stat indeed...

Though, Argenti looks delighted that the both of them are on the same page again. He hums a little as they walk, before he quiets, remembering they should be kind of stealthy just in case before the Lure tactic. ]

Exactly! Though, how shall we get the one to be lead away? I suppose one way would be getting into range.

But therein lies the problem, yes? If the others are cloistered close together that may by default have us also in their range as well! Though I do wonder if tossing something may cause only one of them to investigate the source of the commotion...
bloodweapon: (➤ 059)

[personal profile] bloodweapon 2024-09-06 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
An excellent idea. It seems unlikely that all of them would investigate, so it should work.

[Good job, Argenti, you solved that one!! He was going to suggest throwing something at one of them, which would probably just piss the whole group off...]

It's worth a try, anyway. Let's see how it goes, shall we?
beautifulknight: (🌹27)

[personal profile] beautifulknight 2024-09-06 01:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly!

I have no doubts that Idrila shall bless our attempts brilliantly!

[ Argenti brightens even more to the point of the usual sparkles and some remnants of rose petals float up briefly...but, anyway, he calms down and then right up ahead they can spot some of those enemies grouped together.

...

He's not a man who hesitates so it probably is going to be ridiculous that he seamlessly gets out his spear and tosses it straight into a wall nearby the cluster. And it kind of is stuck there temporarily.

Somehow, Idrila Lady Fortuna shines down, because that only brings one out of three of the Jack Frosts out from their little cluster to investigate...looking at it all confused-like. Meanwhile, Argenti looks back at Fray, sparkling at him. ]

There is the one dastardly minion! Shall we strike together at the same time?

[There they go... Anyway, here we go, because Argenti just chucked his spear... We could've just used a rock or something, but okay...]

Of course. Do try not to fall behind.

[You can practically hear the smirk. With that said, Fray wastes no time in lunging at the little guy, giant blade in hand. Surprise carries the attack and the poor Jack Frost doesn't have a chance to dodge it (19).]
beautifulknight: (🌹85)

[personal profile] beautifulknight 2024-09-07 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
[ Argenti hears that smirk in that tone!! He blinks before he laughs a little bit, excitement settling in as he races forward himself. Fortunately, Fray's attack means that the Jack Forest is stunned by such a strong showing, so Argenti grabs a hold of the spear and pulls it out of the wall. ]

I shall not fall behind! Though, that being said, I hope you can keep up your momentum, my fellow midnight knight.

[ Then, he turns around, swinging his spear, which barely makes its mark on the enemy, though it could be worse (10) ]
bloodweapon: (➤ 010)

[personal profile] bloodweapon 2024-09-07 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
[Jack Frost is absolutely not having a good time today, but he hee ho's his way through an attack idk I don't persona that strikes Fray's armor for minimal damage (12). Fray scoffs and moves to run the poor little guy through, which... he succeeds at?? (20) Well damn, that poor Jack Frost deserved better, yikes.]

Easy. Shall we try to draw another one out the same way?
beautifulknight: (🌹61)

[personal profile] beautifulknight 2024-09-07 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
[ Hecking crying, to be honest Jack Frosts do tend to do that...though Argenti sees that Fray essentially obliterates the monster like a bug. Which, you know, is well-deserved. RIP Jack Froest. ]

It seems you have beat me to it. I will have to endeavor to ensure I do not fall short of my own claims.

But, as it worked out before it shall work once again!

[ Let's see what's in the cards today. He pulls back one arm and throws his spear into a different wall next to a different Jack Frost.

...Which gets one Jack Frost to head over, once again. How this keeps happening is anyone's guess! ]
bloodweapon: (➤ 042)

[personal profile] bloodweapon 2024-09-07 07:11 am (UTC)(link)
[He may be Utility, but...

Anyway, Fray nods at that and watches as Argenti manages to pull the same trick off again. And it works! Look at that, the dice are favoring us today. The little guy is definitely more wary than the previous one, however, as he hee ho's once mo(re) and Fray's attack swings wide, missing as he jumps out of the way (6). Look sharp, Argenti!]
beautifulknight: (🌹66)

[personal profile] beautifulknight 2024-09-07 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[ HELP not the healer meme happening at full force here.

As for Argenti, well, he gets out his spear and then, kind of off-balance as he has had to extract it from a wall, manages to miss the Jack Frost, swing going wide (4)

All the same it decides to try to pelt them both with ice magic. Rude! ]
bloodweapon: (➤ 097)

[personal profile] bloodweapon 2024-09-07 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
[The good news about it being a two on one is that while the little guy is focused on dodging Argenti's attack, he runs smack into Fray's next one, cleaving the poor little guy with a big sword (15). He's still standing though, and darts back to avoid Fray's follow-up attack, shooting more ice magic as he goes. It's going to be pretty slippery here soon if we don't cut him down!]
beautifulknight: (🌹102)

[personal profile] beautifulknight 2024-09-08 01:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Damn Avrae is pretty much being rude right now. Argenti is not doing too hot this battle, it looks like! While Fray manages to basically slam his blade straight into Jack Frost with great damage! Then, the red head manages to dodge the magic, but ends up slipping on where some ice landed yet apparently melted, falling flat on his face. Which means he isn't able to strike back (1)

He does raise his head to shoot a heated glare at the monster that's pretty much laughing with a 'hee hee ho'. At this he feels back of neck and front face completely flaring with embarrassment. Urgh... ]
bloodweapon: (➤ 017)

[personal profile] bloodweapon 2024-09-09 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
[Wow, avrae chill out, let Argenti get some hits in smh!! Fray turns to see what's going on and his next swing goes wide (7), the little guy jumping under it with a triumphant laugh and another blast of cold at Fray's face. Thankfully, he's wearing armor, so it doesn't hurt, but still, rude??]
beautifulknight: (🌹78)

[personal profile] beautifulknight 2024-09-10 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
...That is enough out of you, malignant and foul creature!

[ Apparently, that is truly the first and final straw.

Argenti makes a remarkable recovery when he rises to his feet, and immediately skewers the Jack Frost on his spear (17) in a singular, yet talented flourish. ]

And that takes care of that! I believe we've two enemies remaining, dear Fray. One Jack Frost and the Black Frost itself! Shall we proceed with the strategy once more? Or do we rush in to ambush them both?
bloodweapon: (➤ 003)

[personal profile] bloodweapon 2024-09-13 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
[Good man. Fray huffs out a breath that's almost a laugh before replying.]

We should be able to handle both at once, but we may as well attempt the strategy again to see if it works. If both of them approach, we should attempt to divide their attention. The weaker one should be taken out first, however.

[So basically someone's gotta pull aggro on the big guy but hit the little one. Shouldn't be too hard?]
beautifulknight: (🌹70)

[personal profile] beautifulknight 2024-09-13 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
[ :> ]

You are most certainly correct. Let us see what results from it!

[ Argenti tosses his spear straight into a wall, and...just like that, it manages to be stuck in the wall nearby the smaller duo of shadows now. Somehow...it keeps working out.

Especially since the dice say that with a one out of two, this tactic is victorious again, with the Jack Frost hopping over curiously. It seems he is very good at luring certain enemies over?? Argenti is sparkling at this, looking right at the other man. ]

Look at that! I have succeeded once more in the lure!
