What's Up?

Mafuyu and Aerith have hatched a plan to give Braphine's Chosen some time to relax and have fun together! And just in the nick of time...

Date and Location

Afternoon of Monday, October tth into October 8th
The Aquarium within the Office District

The sway of water

It's a normal morning for anyone who's managing to sleep a standard schedule- up until a mass text goes out, that is. Everyone will find the same thing from either Mafuyu or Aerith's username:

ONE NIGHT STAY-OVER AT THE LOCAL AQUARIUM, SCHEDULED MONDAY, OCTOBER SEVENTH!! All of Braphine's Chosen are invited to an exclusive event hosted at the aquarium where guests can spend the day taking tours and then sleep over in qualified areas. Dining will be provided, all we have to bring is ourselves, changes of clothes and pillows and blankets. (And yes, the floors will be extra clean.)

... Simple enough. And should you choose to attend, both your hostesses will be pleased to see you once it's time to head over.

As they said, the aquarium is largely empty save for the group, and it's definitely worth it. A serene song plays overhead while attendants give tours or explanations as needed. The variety of aquatic life is surprisingly vast as well, and spacious halls give way to plenty of opportunity to explore.

Come nightfall, certain rooms dim the lights but the tanks stay lit- or black lit as darker enclosures like the jellyfish hall and the octopus tanks remain- and only a few staff remain to keep an eye on things- so... stay on your best behavior. The two restaurants stay open- a regular fast food joint with kitschy island cabana theming, and a much more upscale lounge where Aerith plans on corralling the adults for fun this evening.

Once it's time for the age groups to split, Aerith will lead the adults to a pleasant lounge with more tanks, large couches or more private tables, and a view overlooking one of the main rooms of the aquarium- wave to the kids if they're there! Or don't. Bouquets of flowers are placed around the room, and it looks like Aerith has a few ideas already, though she won't stop anyone from going out to review the different sections again.

Contrasting Mafuyu, who is content to let the fellow teens do whatever- though if they do congregate, she's not really the social sort and will simply be content to enjoy the vibes. Even if you just want to take a nap somewhere, there's plenty of dark secluded areas to do so.

This log is for an ic sleepover hosted at the aquarium! All characters are invited but attendance is not mandatory. That said, there are still staff members ready to boot any troublemakers out. We wanted to keep the types of displays vague to give everyone creative freedom, and characters are welcome to flit about between groups as they desire, be it to check in or to to snoop or whatever. As discussed with the mods, this does count as an open event and can be used for rewards. Thank you all for your interest!

I'll give you a treat if you do.

[He gets to be a menace, and he gets Eli to come back to him, and Eli just might get what he's hoping for anyway.]

[ ?! ]

...aw, crap. He's gonna be pissed.

[ Eli will whine about it, but he does get up to go tromping off over to where poor McGillis is minding his own business, peacefully reading. Let's see if he survives to return! ]

[Eli, he's been glowering over top of it this whole time, we have to give him an excuse to get involved...

[ Well. Eli's efforts paid off. McGillis is here.

[ Seconds before McGillis arrives, Eli returns to Celeste with the book. He retakes his seat juuuust as he arrives. ]

Told you he'd be pissed.

You did, you did~

[He can weather a cross look no problem, McGillis... And he will stick that book between himself and Eli as he scooches a little closer to him to totally just make room. Not to enjoy being close or anything, nooo.]

So. You ought to play with us. It'll keep you awake better than hiding in a book.

[Patpatpat on the empty couch spot.]

[ Celeste, please, he's a nerd and he actually thinks this is deeply interesting and engaging! ]

And I don't have any interest in these games.

[ McGillis is pointedly remaining right where he is, standing. ]

[He's not going to stop patting the spot until you join them or leave in a huff sans-book, McGillis......]

Maybe not. But we have interest in you.

[Who is we?????? Doesn't matter. Probably.]

Yes, I can see there's a great amount of interest going around tonight.

[ This is more transparently displeased than he meant to be, but god, he's so tired.

Also Celeste, your patting hand... your patting hand will get tired. ]

Of which you are included, of course.

[But also have been excluded from so far on account of book corner.

Anyway, he is both a little tipsy and also a clown committed to the bit, if McGillis stands there all night, he will patpat all night, too.]

[ Eli's somewhat less of a clown and, after only a single beer (and a lot of soda), not even remotely tipsy. He'd rather show the guy some grace, to be honest. ]

C'mon, Celeste. You can't force someone to join a game like this.

[ He doesn't want McGillis to be angry with him?! Having that entire conversation with Izou over by the sharks was already enough of a dilemma. ]

Hey, Gills, if we give you your book back, could you read it here with us instead? We won't bother you again.

[ No promise for everyone else playing this game, though. ]

[ McGillis was about to snap at Celeste about not getting a say in whether or not he's included in this, but thankfully Eli speaks up first.

In a lot of ways, McGillis and Celeste are mirrors but there is one thing that Celeste is and McGillis truly isn't - and that is overtly flirty. He can flirt here and there, unserious entirely, but this... This strange construct is too emotionally charged, and it makes him feel off-kilter. Worse, because he doesn't particularly appreciate Eli and Celeste being all over Izou tonight, despite the fact that he has no real claim to lay here.

But Eli offers a middle path. And after a moment of tense silence, McGillis sits down and holds out his hand - give his book back, now. ]

Fine. I don't see what difference it makes to the two of you though.

[If one is overtly flirty, then said flirtations are on your terms. Does he think McGillis of all people would be untoward in such ways? No. Is it an ingrained habit, impossible to break on such short notice after 1) obtaining a committed partner and 2) after a not-palace? Yes.

So Eli being the mitigating force is very appreciated by both of them, it would seem.

McGillis sits, and his book is back in his hand less than a second after its been put out for it.]

Hm... does it need to make a difference to want to include you in some way or another?

[Even if that's just sitting closer to the group of them.]

[ It's a relief that Celeste relents and hands the book over. Thank fucking goodness for that... ]

We like having your company. Pretty sure that's the end of it.

[ Or maybe Celeste likes bothering McGillis. He wouldn't put it past him. ]

[ That's... disarming. McGillis looks between them and sighs. He knows there is no reason to feel irritated tonight, and that knowledge had just made him more irritated in and of itself. He doesn't know what he wants from all these people, and a part of him wants to recoil and say nothing, nothing, you want nothing.

But in truth, he likes the idea of sitting among them and reading. It reminds him of a simpler time, of something as close to happiness as he's ever tasted. ]

... if that's all it is, then I won't deny you.

[ And he will open his book again, but maybe there's going to be a comment tossed in between chatter every once in a while from here on out. Alternatively, everyone who wants to learn about marine life with him is welcome to it. ]

[For now, the extent of affection given to McGillis will be that low-spoken thanks and a little bump shoulder to shoulder.

[ Eli's glad to see that McGillis chooses peace. It is nice to have him sharing the couch with them, even if all he's going to do is carry on reading. Ah, but that means his dare was successful.

With an elbow, he gives Celeste a nudge. He could request that reward he'd been promised, but... they have direct company now, so, instead, he simply goes, ]

[For now, that reward will manifest as Celeste draping an arm around Eli's shoulders and trailing fingertips down his jaw. It isn't a public headpat!!

It may just be worse, though, until he can give a proper reward.

But then it's his turn.

[Oh, huh, that's an easy one... and yet it isn't a surpise ir'd be something he's curious about.]

It... depends. We all can learn anything from one another, but certain clans are naturally inclined to different things.

[And he'll totally give a short rundown of the v5 disciplines, probably without their proper names because they don't actually matter that much.

Also regarding what he can do, personally, that he's really good at celerity and presence, but should probably get better at auspex...]
