What's Up?

Mafuyu and Aerith have hatched a plan to give Braphine's Chosen some time to relax and have fun together! And just in the nick of time...

Afternoon of Monday, October tth into October 8th
The Aquarium within the Office District

The sway of water

It's a normal morning for anyone who's managing to sleep a standard schedule- up until a mass text goes out, that is. Everyone will find the same thing from either Mafuyu or Aerith's username:

... Simple enough. And should you choose to attend, both your hostesses will be pleased to see you once it's time to head over.

As they said, the aquarium is largely empty save for the group, and it's definitely worth it. A serene song plays overhead while attendants give tours or explanations as needed. The variety of aquatic life is surprisingly vast as well, and spacious halls give way to plenty of opportunity to explore.

Come nightfall, certain rooms dim the lights but the tanks stay lit- or black lit as darker enclosures like the jellyfish hall and the octopus tanks remain- and only a few staff remain to keep an eye on things- so... stay on your best behavior. The two restaurants stay open- a regular fast food joint with kitschy island cabana theming, and a much more upscale lounge where Aerith plans on corralling the adults for fun this evening.

Once it's time for the age groups to split, Aerith will lead the adults to a pleasant lounge with more tanks, large couches or more private tables, and a view overlooking one of the main rooms of the aquarium- wave to the kids if they're there! Or don't. Bouquets of flowers are placed around the room, and it looks like Aerith has a few ideas already, though she won't stop anyone from going out to review the different sections again.

Contrasting Mafuyu, who is content to let the fellow teens do whatever- though if they do congregate, she's not really the social sort and will simply be content to enjoy the vibes. Even if you just want to take a nap somewhere, there's plenty of dark secluded areas to do so.

This log is for an ic sleepover hosted at the aquarium! All characters are invited but attendance is not mandatory. That said, there are still staff members ready to boot any troublemakers out. We wanted to keep the types of displays vague to give everyone creative freedom, and characters are welcome to flit about between groups as they desire, be it to check in or to to snoop or whatever. As discussed with the mods, this does count as an open event and can be used for rewards. Thank you all for your interest!

[ Eli's glad to see that McGillis chooses peace. It is nice to have him sharing the couch with them, even if all he's going to do is carry on reading. Ah, but that means his dare was successful.

With an elbow, he gives Celeste a nudge. He could request that reward he'd been promised, but... they have direct company now, so, instead, he simply goes, ]

[For now, that reward will manifest as Celeste draping an arm around Eli's shoulders and trailing fingertips down his jaw. It isn't a public headpat!!

It may just be worse, though, until he can give a proper reward.

What kind of wild shit can vampires do where you're from?

[Oh, huh, that's an easy one... and yet it isn't a surpise ir'd be something he's curious about.]

It... depends. We all can learn anything from one another, but certain clans are naturally inclined to different things.

[And he'll totally give a short rundown of the v5 disciplines, probably without their proper names because they don't actually matter that much.

Also regarding what he can do, personally, that he's really good at celerity and presence, but should probably get better at auspex...]

[ ...okay, that's a lot of stuff. He has to wonder if the vampires he knows back home can do anything like, well, any of that! ]

Huh, got it. I think. What is your clan inclined towards exactly? I mean, what even is your clan?

[It is a lot! Pop quiz after, Eli-- No, not really.]

I am clan Toreador... and we tend to be inclined towards the arts. Argenti would certainly fit in. Ah, but there are some who think of us as obsessive idiots as we're... a bit prone to fixation.

Ha, McGillis could fit in, too, with all the theater he's been doing.

[ ...he would have taken Celeste to McGillis' show since they had tickets, handwaved date, handwaved date, rip. ]

Hah, he could, couldn't he? I imagine he'd prefer certain others, but... well, one cannot always choose.

S'long as he had an eternity to read and do paperwork, he'd probably be pretty happy with any of 'em.

Truth or dare?

Truth.

[Oh! That's a bit of a surprise, actually! But not an unpleasant one.]

If you didn't have to spend your time hunting demons, and had the chance to choose anything at all to do with your life, what would it be?

[...He kind of wonders if Eli has even considered it, but... well, in the best-case scenario of infinite world-hopping, he can't help but be curious about different angles he can take to enable... hobbies, at the very least.]

[ Can't believe choosing truth is now officially as frightening as dare. Wow. Of course, this is hardly the first time he's been asked something like this, yet it draws a blank stare from Eli nonetheless. He feels like he never has a good answer... ]

I don't know. Fighting is all I'm good at. It's not that no one ever tried to teach me anything else, but I never had the attention span for it.

[...That may be why he'd chosen dare first, okay. Truth is... rough. But he'll take that answer and think about it for a minute.

And then shrug, and nestle in a little closer against him.]

Something physical, then? Where you can just do, and not have to think about it.

[Absolutely no judgement there.]

[ Oh... With Celeste closer, how can he not slide an arm around his waist, right? So he does. It's a comfortable closeness that he enjoys. ]

Eh, maybe.

I don't know what there is to do, though. I climb stuff a lot. I go running. It's a part of what I do regularly, anyway, so it's not like any of that is... a hobby... or whatever. I ain't allowed to join the new ADDF, so that's out. I did try working as part of the construction crew once, uh. That didn't go too well.

[It's definitely an easy closeness that's already all too easy to take for granted.]

[...Sporty guy who can also sing and play guitar... Eli got the fuckboy trifecta, I see.]

It could be both, you know, if you let it. ...If you enjoy it, that is.

[He knows Eli likes to go running, at the very least, and while he doubts he'd really fit in with the Running Is My Life hobby crowd (or the Climbing Is My Life crowd, actually)... there's no good reason he can think of that he can't do it for fun on his own.]

I suppose I'm used to there being more options open than you are, but... Nothing is a foregone conclusion, right?

[With how weird everything has been here, and all, it feels a bit sad to still hear Eli pigeonhole himself into "all I can do is fight".]

It's hard to claim more than that — that all he can do is fight — when his options remain limited as they are. It leads to him giving a thoughtful little frown. ]

I don't think I even know what the other options are. Everyone's so focused on either rebuilding or fighting on the front... I guess I could also head south to try to help with the farmlands. Can't say I know a lot about farming, either, though.

That... makes sense. But at this point, I do think you could figure out whatever you wanted to.

[So he might protest he doesn't have the attention for it, or the smarts for it, but... after getting so close to him, here, Celeste isn't entirely sure of that.

...Mostly. There's still a temper to contend with.]

[ The temper is the biggest hurdle. He'd like to think he's doing better, but only time will tell. ]

I'd need to think about it... See what's possible. Baking cookies was fun, but I can't see myself as a baker or chef or anything like that. I didn't hate construction work, I just didn't like being told what to do. Maybe I just keep trying stuff until something sticks.

[It seems like he's doing better. Here. For now. Though maybe he has a biased perspective.]

No? Taking care of others does suit you, though.

[So maybe he doesn't go into being a chef or a baker, but... that level of caretaking feels like it fits. But, again, maybe he is biased.]

If nothing else, you are stubborn enough to not give up until something fits.
