Kirumi Tojo's Palace | The Ultimate Maid's Failures

By now everyone may be used to find themselves in bizarre locations, between going into palaces and visiting Nekyia. It might not come as a surprise that it has happened again.

What might come as a surprise, though...is how empty this place is.

All around you there's nothing more than a large, gray, featureless expanse. In the distance there seem to be bars, curving upwards to gather so, so high above you, possibly hundreds of miles above, so high it’s hard to distinguish.

It’s a cage. So unfathomably large. You could escape, were you to get to the edges of the cage, but...it would take forever. No matter how you look at it, you're trapped. The atmosphere is so...hopeless. Devoid of anything even remotely positive.

Not that you want to hang around for long, do you? After all, this is someone's palace. Not a place to stick around at. What to do, though?

It’s all so...empty. Silent. Featureless. A flat expanse of hard gray tiles.

Gather together, everyone. Gather and choose a direction. North, East, West, South. All directions look completely identical, but could it affect your time in this place, somehow? Probably not. But all treks start with the first step. Perhaps, if you get moving, you'll progress?

[Aubrey tries to get untangled. She was successful at it before his hands got all tingly and needle-y.

This moment of delay, though, gave the bones all the time they needed to form a plan of action. Skulls, one after another, begin piling up, forming an unstable tower. It's a slow process, though! If Aubrey is lucky, maybe she'll be able to ascend in time to avoid being accosted by that!]

[She grits her teeth and keeps climbing, and apparently the rocky start is over because she gets a nat 20 babey]

[The natural twenties some of you get terrify me. I haven't gotten a single natural 20 in a long time.

Feel proud of yourself, Aubrey. You get up to the second leg. This one and two more remain! The skulls that were forming a tower, greatly discouraged by the prowess Aubrey is now showing at climbing, just crumble down uselessly.

From the wall of the pit, Monokuma appears. He has a water gun]

Say hello!

[The water isn't meant to hurt...but his intent to try to make Aubrey fall will, if he were to succeed. A fall from three stories high is no joke, after all! Roll to try to deal with this and keep going!]

[She definitely pauses! But she persists (11).]

[Persist, Aubrey, persist. To the third leg, with this one and one more remaining.

From the edge of the pit, still some distance ahead of Aubrey, comes...a skeleton. How did it get up there?! Since reaching from the bottom of the pit didn't work out, the strategy now is to try from the top. There it comes, sliding down the thread, to attempt to stamp onto Aubrey and push her down!]

[There is probably an undignified cry because holy shit a skeleton??? But somehow, Aubrey manages in spite of this anyway with a 20.

She's coming for you Kirumi, whether you like it or not.]

[Isn't this the second 20 you get, Dani? Aubrey really is getting good luck.

The skeleton descends towards Aubrey, hands at the ready, to grab her. It's powerless in the face of Aubrey's...ways of overcoming a skeleton. I presume she did something amazing!

Reaching the last leg means Aubrey is almost reaching safety. She can see everyone who has reached the outside of the pit already, and on the other side she can see Monokuma]

I hope you enjoy being in a killing game someday.

[He says maliciously, and brandishing an axe, he waits until Aubrey is close to the edge, before he swings the axe, over and over, trying to cleave her with it. Monokuma has left aside the more outrageous ways to attack, he's attacking with absolute anger, only caring about wanting to destroy!]

[Look it's all fun and games until Avrae curses me with multiple 1s in a row.]

[Right now, at least, she has rolled a 14 for somehow dodging the axe and scrambling past him!]

[The axe swings so close Aubrey may lose some strands of that marvelous pink hair. It was mad swings, lacking in accuracy, and once Aubrey is beyond reach he's torn between pursuing her like a B-movie serial killer and attacking those still climbing.

He decides for the latter. You're safe, Aubrey!]

She's going to take the opportunity to try to wrestle the axe from him (18)]

[I really don't think these paws Monokuma has are good for holding onto anything. Aubrey should be able to get that axe. Congratulations! You have a new additional weapon.
