Kirumi Tojo's Palace | The Ultimate Maid's Failures

By now everyone may be used to find themselves in bizarre locations, between going into palaces and visiting Nekyia. It might not come as a surprise that it has happened again.
What might come as a surprise, though...is how empty this place is.
All around you there's nothing more than a large, gray, featureless expanse. In the distance there seem to be bars, curving upwards to gather so, so high above you, possibly hundreds of miles above, so high it’s hard to distinguish.
It’s a cage. So unfathomably large. You could escape, were you to get to the edges of the cage, but...it would take forever. No matter how you look at it, you're trapped. The atmosphere is so...hopeless. Devoid of anything even remotely positive.
Not that you want to hang around for long, do you? After all, this is someone's palace. Not a place to stick around at. What to do, though?
It’s all so...empty. Silent. Featureless. A flat expanse of hard gray tiles.
Gather together, everyone. Gather and choose a direction. North, East, West, South. All directions look completely identical, but could it affect your time in this place, somehow? Probably not. But all treks start with the first step. Perhaps, if you get moving, you'll progress?

By the virtue of roleplaying choices, Sayaka and Yoon and some of the others are ahead of Kainé. When she begins to climb, a lone cannonball fired towards someone else comes hurling down towards Kainé, with the bad luck that, if she's not quick, she could get hit by it.
I haven't ever been hit by a sphere of dense metal dropped on me at high speed, but I assume that'd hurt like hell!]

[At least Kainé's dexterity is on her side when it comes to athletic feats like this. With a 13, it'll probably be a pretty close call, but she'll throw her body weight to one side to swing her thread in that direction. Frame perfect dodge?
Just kidding; she probably overcorrects and ends up slammed into a wall or something.]
no subject
She overcorrect, slamming into a wall, but she manages to hold on. The bones down below, thinking she'd fall, were already preparing spikes, and therefore didn't expect she'd manage to ascend. Kainé is in the second leg now, with two more ahead!
Monokuma had noticed Kainé had been pretty careful, fighting bones before going upwards. He didn't like that. That's why, when she's near one of the possible openings of the pit, it opens, and there's Monokuma, holding a crowbar]
Be fast!
[He swings the crowbar, trying to hook it against the thread, so he can make it shake, but he misses the swing. Growling with frustration, he tries again. Apparently Monokuma has bad aim.
Who will succeed first? Monokuma at trying to get the thread? Or Kainé ascending? Who knows]
no subject
[She probably is fantasizing about something like that, about grabbing the hook of the crowbar herself and using it to hurtle the bear to the ground of the pit, even if it would be meaningless... if this was a long time ago, maybe she would have been baited into doing just that. WE WOULD NOT BE SURVIVING TO EVEN MAKE IT TO THE FIRST CASE IF THIS WAS REALLY DANGAN RONPA.
But she rolls a 14 to continue her ascent past this stage, instead.]

By the time Monokuma hooks the crowbar to the thread, Kainé is above the spot now. No matter how much he shakes the thread, to Kainé it'd be a gentle swaying at best. Nice! Monokuma is forced to retreat since this was so ineffective now that she's up in the third leg. This one and one more ahead, Kainé!
From the second leg, a large saw appears, and inches at the thread Fray is climbing. Unlike the one that's with Yoon, though...Kaine's thread gets entangled onto it without breaking. Instead it's reeling Kainé's thread, intending to pull her down onto the dangerous blade.
Watch out!]
no subject
I imagine this undoes a lot of the headway she was making in climbing, but what about the attempted sawblade damage? What obstacle will she have to overcome?]
no subject
All that spider thread begins messing with the mechanism of the saw. Slowly, it stops spinning, but the motor that governs this saw doesn't. It gathers strength, more and more, until...
...the arm of the saw snaps. Pieces of machinery get blasted everywhere, including towards Kainé, sharp as hell. Watch out!]
no subject
Still, as the machine chugs, snaps, and explodes, there's maybe a second of fear that passes through her veneer of exasperation. It's ridiculous, yes, but maybe this'll really do her in.
She once more comes out of facing the obstacle with a 13, which is respectable but not perfect. Surely enough to survive to pass the exploding blades and yet not enough to get her there without cuts and blood to show for it.
For the hell of it, with only one more section to go after this one, I'll leave her final ascension in the hands of the gods (for Nick to roll).]

Well, Monokuma decides to get paws-on now. Since Kainé failed twice in a row, she managed to ascend, to the final leg. Monokuma cuts Kainé's thread, and instead of letting go...his grin seems to broaden, intent in making Kainé suffer before he lets her drop twelve stories to the bottom of the pit]
Go away!
[Swinging the thread with impressive strength, he seeks to slam Kainé against the walls of the pit, ping-ponging her back and forth]

Megidolaon!
[He's desperate. He's throwing all he can against all these people. Even though his foes are so close and therefore Monokuma risks getting hurt too, he's attacking with the most powerful attack he has!
Watch out, Kainé, Shalem!]
no subject
He doesn't pull her up immediately, tanking that Megidolaon by himself (14). That hurts and he is not happy about that, but he tightens his grip on her hand and only helps her up when he's sure the spell is gone.]
no subject
Which is exactly when the Megidolaon hits and he takes the full force of it, and she feels, in real-time, that hand slipping away from her again. As soon as the way is clear, she finishes the climb, paying little heed to her own injuries as she gets there.]
You dumbass, [she says, a little hot with what might be guilt or worry or anger.] I could've... [What, handled it herself?] ... Thanks.
[How bad is he looking?]
no subject
I'll be fine with some rest.
no subject
[Soujuurou talked about paradise at the top of the threads. They definitely aren't there yet. Kainé looks around tensely, apparently taking stock of who's made it up so far.]
Why'd you do it? [Taking the full force of the attack when he could have done anything else... ugh. She probably does understand why, but there's something defensive about it regardless.]
