[ ...Fray's still here with them. He breathes out a sigh of relief, looking in the other man's direction - even if his appearance has been changed, the fact that he is here, and his nightmare hasn't been granted reality...
Or Atem hasn't stolen him away somehow makes him relax even more. He just wishes the illusion would shatter completely. ]
He's taken on the illusionary form of the Omen of Evil.
[ Everything is still...distorted, and then there is Fray, covered in that dark form. Which he knows is fine now, but what can he do about dispelling the illusion now is the problem. ]
I don't understand, I have realized it is an illusion, but everything still doesn't look right.
[But what happens if that dark form tries to strike Argenti? Fray might not have moved from his spot... but there's no way for Argenti to tell otherwise.]
[ The mind is a complex and complicated thing. So is the subconscious - though one might think they are aware, it isn't always so simple even when matters seem close to being solved.
Such as it is, Argenti is distracted enough in trying to figure and sort everything out himself that, well...he definitely ends up getting hit, stumbling back with the force of the blow. ]
He tries to remember what was said earlier, the murals...but, he can't remember the hint (2)
He's too stressed. And it's the worst kind of stress too - he thinks he already knows it's an illusion, but the fact he got hit makes him confused, as well as uncertain.
Maybe a part of him still hasn't quite accepted that this isn't reality just yet. ]
Fray...you're there, aren't you? Please, talk to me.
[Needless to say, Fray's been trying to work out what the hell has been causing this, but ended up with a whole lot of nothing because I was afk sorry!.]
Argenti! Argenti, I'm here—
[He reaches out for Argenti instinctively, though he's not sure how that will look to Argenti, if Argenti isn't seeing him at all.]
I'm here; I'm not leaving your side. No matter what it is you see, know I am still here.
[ Honestly, it's kind of difficult to know how to react from the start, so he is valid - the penalty games being what they are adds to the...challenge, let us say. But whatever the case, Argenti hears Fray's voice at least and even tough his heart jumps when the hand reaches out to him.
So, at first, there's a struggle to remember (7), and it takes a moment longer, but...
Even if he's confused as well as disoriented by the fear - alongside the mental damage, because that earlier illusionary strike did not help - he boldly reaches out still for that hand, fingers grasping onto it desperately. To him, it appears to be far too larger than it should be. ]
...I hear you.
[ Somehow, like this, the answer feels like it is on the tip of his tongue, but then he takes a further leap of faith, giving a tug, closing his eyes, and reaching out with his other hand blindly for Fray for an embrace, to draw him closer. ]
[His grip on Argenti's hand is tight and when his beloved reaches out to draw him closer, Fray closes the distance between them easily, embracing Argenti tightly.]
He hasn't done anything to me. What you see is an illusion; I promise I am just fine. I haven't been hurt.
[There's an undercurrent of worry and fright in his tone that he's trying to keep buried beneath a steady, calming tone. He's here, and hopefully Argenti can feel that much even if his eyes lie to him.]
[ Something like relief makes its way to him. Fray is still here...he didn't lose him in so many ways.
He also knows that Fray knows this, but it is something he has to say, here and now. Argenti opens his eyes - even seeing that dark form, he feels the fear peel away. His heart feels so light, yet so full of emotion, full of - ]
...Yes, I believe you. You are safe. You're here...real, with me.
You are right here with me - my one and only, the one I love so dearly. We promised each one to one another, that we would not part...that includes now.
[ Argenti speaks those words with less panic and anxiety, feeling his eyes wet with sheer emotion as he holds onto the man that he loves so deeply and fervently tightly. He thinks rather now instead of being afraid to reach out, to grasp ahold of Fray, it is more now that he's afraid to let go.
In the face of the strength of this ardent love, the illusion shatters. And with it, Argenti lets out a soft, shuddering sigh of relief. ]
[Despite the fact that there are other people around, Fray's more focused on Argenti than anything else happening in the room. This is one of the few times he isn't bright red when Argenti says such beautiful, flowery words, and he's wearing his helmet. Oh well.]
Of course it does. I will not leave your side - not now, not ever. I will remain right here with you until that illusion has shattered.
[He holds his dear knight tightly, like letting go simply isn't an option at all, heedless of the fact that the illusion has already been broken and Argenti is freed.]
[ It's fine...they can be here for awhile longer until a bit after the illusion has shattered. Argenti himself will bask in the warmth of Fray's arms a bit indulgently until he realizes that they'll need to return to what needs to be done. But first he will say this: ]
...Good. I knew you would not, but still, it warms my heart that you would say so.
[ It is a moment that is very much needed, and from Argenti's perspective, rather practical, given what Atem has thrown at them (if his heart feels such unrestrained warmth from it? All the better.) ]
[His grip remains tight on Argenti, like he's a lifeline. Despite the fact that Argenti's the one dealing with the illusion, Fray's just as desperate to hold on.]
Of course, my beloved. I will always be here for you, no matter what you may need me for.
