( another week, another palace- and far be it from us to deny tradition. through bickering, wandering and other shenanigans, the group from argenti's palace will find themselves at an agreeable izakaya- not entirely meals, and they definitely have to make an argument for the younger teens, thank you izou, but the atmosphere is light and more importantly, this bad boy can fit so many customers at one group table. it was a hard battle- so now it's time to rest hard, too.

[ McGillis did not want to come. In fact, he'd been halfway through leaving when Argenti called out to him and restated his invitation to the Izakaya explicitly instead of just implicitly. Despite himself, even McGillis felt that it would be a dick move to deny him in these circumstances... so now he's here.

Biding his time until it's socially acceptable to leave again.

He's glad to have Argenti back but there is only so much friendship talk he can take before feeling odd, especially in his current mid-death crisis mental state.

Through the evening, he's pretty quiet but not impolite. Just kind of trying to not stick out despite his size. He's sipping on sake and not eating much, both because he doesn't love eating in front of people to begin with and because eating with his shaky right hand and his non dominant left hand is pretty awkward still. ]

[ McGillis turn that frown upside down! Argenti still has no way to phrase things except in very straight-forward terms - sometimes with grandiose expressions that lose people, but for things like asks, there is no questioning it.

Well, there can be, but still. ]

You are not feeling hungry?

Not all that much.

[ It's Argenti who's asking, so he can get a smile with his answer. The poor man's been through enough recently, McGillis doesn't actually want to push him away. ]

Maybe that's odd after the day we just had, but I may just be too tired to eat much.

[ At least it's not a lie that he's tired, and it's a rarity for him to also admit as much. ]

[ Argenti indeed has been; in some ways he's still recovering, so it does help that the other does not. ]

Sometimes exhaustion can indeed wear down on one's appetite...I experienced it all the same when I was traveling from world to world.

So, do believe me when I say that I do not find it quite odd.

Though, of course, in my experience once that exhaustion is properly dealt with, the next day does tend to hit you with a hunger like an army of Wubbaboos!

[ Which can of course be easily dealt with. ]

Wubbaboos! Oh, apologies, you must not have heard of them. They're such adorable creatures, however!

They can fit into the palm of your hand, or be four times the size of a normal person. They are very mischievous at times and do like to play pranks, though.

[ The name is still ridiculous, but now McGillis is sidetracked by something wholly different: ]

That is quite the extreme size variation. Are they considered different sub-species or does the difference occur randomly, even within the same family of... of those creatures.

[ Biological curiosity is piqued but he is NOT saying Wubbaboo. ]

New mission for Argenti:

To get McGillis to say "Wubbaboo" (Mission Clear Conditions: Impossible) ]

I have heard that they descend from some kind of spiritual being of some type, and that there may be more dangerous "variations" out there [ the heliobi? ] but I am uncertain if it is true they are indeed related.

I can show you pictures of them if you would like.

[ Spiritual being, huh... Right, the fauna of other worlds would also incorporate magic! McGillis is all too glad to let himself get distracted by thinking about that, rather than any of today's happenings. Through that, Argenti is doing a good job at brightening his mood, actually. ]

I'd enjoy that. My usual focus may only be birds, but I can't say I don't have a passing curiosity for all kinds of creatures that populate other worlds.

[ After all of that, lifting up moods is definitely something he'll be aiming for. So, Argenti passes him a bright smile, and then hurriedly gets out his cellphone. After that, he will show him an image of one of these Ghost Pokemon Look-alike creatures. ]

...Then, here we are!

You can encounter them in various places; though it is not necessarily a given! They will even appear in space stations; generally, they tend to congregate near more people, however. But, out of all the creatures available that I know of these are most certainly my favorite.

...There are also various creatures like The Ferocious Fluff Ball, though it is as you may guess rather dangerous even though it is rather adorable.

[ Speaking about that one to Maika got quite the reaction and he is still not sure why, but in retrospect it feels kind of funny. ]

[ McGillis doesn't know what he expected but it definitely wasn't as adorable as whatever this is.... Argenti comes from such a strange place. ]

Interesting... I don't think we have anything comparable in my world. Though... when you say they stick around people, is that for resource reasons? Do they feed off things dropped by humans like rats or pigeons would?

[ I'm so sorry that he's actually interested in this type of detail..... ]

[ Doesn't he just? The Honkai Star Rail universe is filled with many odd and incredibly strangely cute and adorable animals/creatures. ]

That is so they can be able to pull off as many pranks as they can, I've heard! But I would not say that they feed off of humans, exactly, since even if I've come across knowledge that they can be compared to ghosts in that they are able to possess them, they do not need to do that.

Though because of their abilities they can cause trouble too. I'm sure you can understand the particulars! I am not sure how people are able to keep the creatures in line, but I've never heard of any prankastastrophe, so there must also be ways to stop them from doing that either.

[ ...Anyway, Argenti isn't entirely bothered that McGillis is so enraptured by the details. In fact, it just encourages him to tell more - even all the aspects which might make sense as to why these creatures aren't exactly allowed to run amok, and cause chaos... ]

[Kirumi notices McGillis is largely keeping to himself despite being in a group. Standing to the side of the table, as appropriate for someone in her station typically, she asks:]

Is everything alright? May I offer you anything to improe your evening?

[ It makes McGillis smile at a little to see Kirumi doing her maid thing off to the side - they'd tried to get her to quit it last time, but in the end she's somebody who follows her own set of priorities regardless of that. ]

Everything is to satisfaction. I'm just worn out from the day's events - are you not?

...I am aching. As usual, these excursions carry a great deal of physical exhaustion and pain. As much as I loathe to admit, fighting supernatural entities is something I cannot seem able to improve that much at.

[Which is a bit of a shameful thing to admit, as someone generally aiming to be perfectionist, but still! She's not terrible, but she also isn't going to become a powerhouse as she hoped she would]

[ Yeah, that sounds about right. They've all been having a day of it. ]

Training to mastery takes time, unfortunately.

[ McGillis is also an overachiever type, but his expectations for improvement times might be a bit more realistic. ]

I'd tell you to sit down and relax, but that's just going to make you more tense, won't it?

...I am starting to get used to it. Perhaps I have been worn down by the insistence many have about this.

[Kirumi doesn't seem too resigned about it, though! As much as she thought she'd be able to keep her distance, it was for naught. She's being dragged into bonding, yeah

I don't know whether that should be considered a good or a bad thing at this rate.

[ Keeping their distance permanently would have been so nice, wouldn't it?

Nevertheless, McGillis moves a little so Kirumi would have space to sit next to him if she so desired. ]

[She does sit down! Hell yeah]

I am starting to think it might be a good thing, although sometimes I am not sure how to deal with it.

[Mostly because it makes her be stuck between the impulse of staying in her maid ways and the newfound desire to connect with them]

An understandable dilemma.

[ One that he is also finding himself in. It's about as close as he gets to admitting his newfound desire for human connection out loud. He wants others, but it's too late for that. He wants others, but he does not want to be seen at all.

Keeping his distance had an easier manual. ]

Do you think that Kandata would have been pulled up to heaven if he'd allowed the other sinners to climb along with him?

...I believe that is the point of the tale. Or at the very least, if the sinner had been more understanding of others' situation, everybody could have been saved, instead of all being for naught.

[Kirumi chooses to blatantly ignore any and all implications this has about her canon events. Self-introspection of that kind won't happen]

And ignoring the point of the story as written, what do you think?

[ It's a paradoxical question because the tale as written only exists with that one singular perspective on it - but they're not in a literature class here. ]
