Maybe that's what the ruins we walked through on the way were supposed to symbolize? Too vague to really tell.

That was my thought, too. Hell, there were craters and shit -- a war zone sure would explain that away.

The problem is, what it's got to do with our sparkly knight here?

Could be something he got involved in as a knight. Fighting demons in some war-torn planet to bring beauty back to the people, or whatever. Or...

[ Hm. Sure would be nice if Argenti had said more concrete stuff about his past and less flowery rambling about fluffballs. ]

What were the features on those two people, anyway? Anything match the statues around here?

Sounds like something he'd do, but it's gotta be pretty important to him if there was a whole feature on it.

[Something that involved friends, family or a lover, maybe?? But who knows at this point.]

One of 'em had long hair and was wearing a suit, and the one in a dress had short hair. Nothing says they can't be the same as the statues, but it's none of 'em obviously stuck out as a match.
