post palace takeout! [week 5]
( at some point a bedraggled lot in yukatas manage to make their way to the dorm, shower and patch themselves up. and then mafuyu makes a very earnest request that they all go out for dinner, and, well, apparently many struggle to refuse her.
this is how they find themselves in something akin to a denny's or an ihop at like, midnight.
as one does. )

I am most glad to hear it.
[ Argenti feels relieved on so many levels, though. Including the group's similarities. It does make sense that those here wouldn't exactly make remarks on their less-flattering portions of their past, especially if it is similar. ]
...Yes, it seems so. [ He ventures curiously: ] Do you suspect it might be purposeful?

[ He winds up drawing a pattern in the cream on his waffle as he speaks - keeping his hands busy in a situation where his hands aren't free to fuss with his fringe. ]
Izou's mindscape revolved a lot around how other people perceive you - or look down on you. That seems to be a matter most of us have some degree of relation to. At least three of us appear to come from poverty, and I have some suspicions about the relation with a few of the others.
[ Mafuyu's Politeness Switch is simply too familiar to disregard. ]
Maybe I am just seeking patterns where there are none, but isn't it possible that this resonance drew our ragtag group into that place?

[ Argenti's eyes follow the movements for a short bit before looking back at McGillis, listening closely as the blond man speaks further, closing his eyes in thought.
He remembers thinking that as everything happened, it seemed to very much involve and mirror Izou's perception on how others treated him. So there definitely isn't any disagreement in his mind. Either way, there's a little laugh that escapes him at this. ]
I see, so not only is it possible that it is our commonality that happens to have brought us together, so to speak, but it is also possible that in our hearts, it resonated to the point that our hearts found all of each other in the same place.
[ He enjoys the sound of it acutely; it is like seeing a bloom occurring before his very eyes. From his perspective that is...truly beautiful. ]
I do not think you err in pointing out what you have, McGillis. The universe is vast and unpredictable. But, rarely do coincidences ever truly exist in such a grand number all at once! Though it truly be by our own efforts, it speaks to the fact that the hearts of individuals are born to reach out to one another. The fact that it seems to have resulted in something like all of this...I cannot find myself complaining.
But now, I wonder - what other similarities are we all bound to share with one another?

[ Resonating heart born to reach out to one another... If that was really the case, that purpose had been beaten out of McGillis before he had time to even commit it to memory. For over two decades, he felt he was fine this way. He'd built anger around him like a fortress, and he'd turned any would-be conquerors away at the gate.
Gaelio's tears have taken a battering ram to the fortress door, and now McGillis has to decide whether to fix it up or to take it off its hinges entirely.
A discussion he'd been having with himself for weeks now, and which is only accelerating to dizzying speeds at this fine Dennihop. ]
If it weren't for your open nature, I might consider that another commonality. A lot of us are closed off and guarded, aren't we?
[ Izou and Eli wear aggression as a shield, Mafuyu has a whole separate personality stashes away, Kirumi does not allow personal relations due to the nature of her work, Celeste is... entirely too familiar in the way he dances around people... And Yi Sang has admitted to a past of avoidance all on his own earlier. It's only Sunrise that McGillis doesn't have a read on in this regard. ]

[ Argenti doesn't usually encounter familiar faces all that often within a short span of time due to his travels - it has been slightly changing due to the nature of the Trailblazer and Boothill's general existence. ]
I suppose even if I am rather open, I do usually tend to live a solitary life, before I arrived here. A Knight of Beauty often needs to go on their journeys alone.
But, generally I believe that some of us here do seem to fit the description of closed off and guarded to a point, yes! I am not too familiar with everyone else to know it is for certain a great number of us, though I would not doubt it either.
...I believe that, perhaps, the past has been a main reason for that. Though, it does not take away from how we have all managed to bond regardless.
[ Therefore, it evidently does not surprise him. Argenti considers himself indeed a rather open person, as McGillis has pointed out. ]
