( at some point a bedraggled lot in yukatas manage to make their way to the dorm, shower and patch themselves up. and then mafuyu makes a very earnest request that they all go out for dinner, and, well, apparently many struggle to refuse her.

this is how they find themselves in something akin to a denny's or an ihop at like, midnight.

[ Yes, we can exist in comfortable silence here. McGillis feels doubly so now that he overheard the little dumpster conversation (while in the literal dumpster). Though he denies being a pack animal, he does feel like it is a special treat to be in the presence of somebody in the same situation as himself. ]

And when McGillis lets on that he overheard the little dumpster conversation, well - comfortable silence can be accompanied by an understanding look. It would seem that those stealing fries aren't the only ones here sharing special little treats at the table.]

[ Indeed, there is a reason McGillis likes sweets as much as he does. They've never quite stopped feeling like a special privilege. ]

[Special privileges never really stop feeling special, and it is absolutely something of a tragedy that Celeste was turned before his life really started looking up. Can't even taste little treats, now.]
