[ children who know nothing should say nothing, and that’s exactly what soujuurou does. it’s not like he has any other choice, as his words are immediately cut short by the appearance of that and—
oh.
soujuurou’s arm is still outstretched, holding the bangle that he wanted to give back to jordi— it’s his after all. with his thoughts and emotions blank, he watches as jordi’s body collapses. in the back of his head, he realizes that he has never actually seen a person getting attacked before. the corpse of that familiar person had died on their own, and alice and aozaki had not been attacked while he was present. this was a new form of powerlessness that he had never experienced before, and it leaves him empty and hollowed out. the rumbling of the storm and the shaking of the lighthouse are nothing but distant things for him. all he can do is stare forward. ]
[So the adults seem to have Jordi handled, but Sayaka rushes on over to Soujuurou to check in with him--he's collapsed after all, and while physical contact still isn't her strongest suit, she can build a bridge and get over herself just this once to gently go over to him and try to help.]
Shizuki-kun, hey--do you need some help getting up? You can't stay here, this place is going to fall apart--we don't want you getting hurt here. Come on--Jordi-san's going to be okay once we get out. Okay...?
[...If he doesn't respond, she and her stupid twig limbs ARE going to try and pick him up and like. Drag him on out of here if needed. YOU ARE NOT DYING TODAY.]
[ soujuurou snaps back into attention the monent that sayaka calls out for him. her voice is still distant, and it takes a superhuman effort to pull his gaze away from the spot he’s at, algae and everything but… somehow he manages it. ]
Right. We have to continue.
[ he picks himself up with little help, despite the way that his muscles are stiff with exhaustion. he looks at the spot where jordi stood, and wonders if he was wrong for wanting to not fight. ]

[Sayaka's smile is soft, but yeah, let's get the fuck out of here!]
