Those would see it as protecting themselves. Not from Izou, but rather the possible danger of any association with him.

Given how we were treated, that seems likely.

I find it interesting all references to Izou have named him a demon, instead of Manslayer. Either the demon is not Izou after all, or he does not adhere to such an image of himself as much as he makes it seem.

I mean, just because he came up with a stupid nickname for himself doesn't mean everyone's going to use it. I bet he imagines he's like a super cool demon or some shit, but we all know he's just a weepy, washed-up drunk now.

He hasn't killed anyone here, I believe. Izou also... didn't seem proud of killing being his sole talent, compared to the ability to connect with people. He believed it impossible, now we see why.

It may have been a title he embraced with no other paths to take in a socially isolated life.

Usually, in the case of violent revolution, some are hailed as heroes, while others are relegated to being violent rabble-rousers, or murderers, or, well, demons. Even on the same side. Maybe he accepted the title because this Ryoma was the more charismatic of the two of them?

Tch, wearing a hat doesn't make a guy the more charismatic one.

I did not speak with him in a sober state to really judge. Mood swings are common when drunk.
