KYOTO BAKUMATSU PALACE
You find yourself in historical Kyoto at night. The city is shadowy and beautiful, elegant but hostile. It's a sophisticated city, but you don't belong there and it knows it. Everyone knows it. You are being watched.

Worst of all, a terrible demon haunts the streets of this powerful capital city.

[He was trying to be sneaky... Mcgillis is apparently succeeding in being sneaky. But he'll circle back to rejoin her, under the pretense of getting some ~directions~ and, you know, help reading the signs, in case the bouncer is still watching him.

Buuuut gestures (point at sign, confused headtilt, etc, etc.) don't have to match words!]

There's something not unlike the man on the bridge watching me still. Others- locals- have experienced a similar sensation. I've spotted him, but I thought it was wise to not engage alone. I think I can find him again if I need to, though...

The monsters here have been weak, but... I'm glad you were safe.

[If the track record continues, she could easily bully the shadowman, but it's not like he would have especially enjoyed rolling up on her trying to take him out alone!]

Where is he? We should probably keep an eye on him for now while we wait for some others.

( she will subtly try to nod to where she saw the shadow man last, keeping an eye on him just in case. )

They have been, but I'm still just a student...

[Ah, yep, there he is. At least this one isn't shouting boasts or starting fights, for now, but still best to just keep an eye on him instead of inviting trouble.]

Perhaps it's an ally of the demon. Given how calm everyone is, I do not think the demon himself attacks here.

[An ally of him is a good lead, though!]

It appeared when I first was accused to theft. I managed to talk my way out of trouble- I told an older man that I was simply borrowing the news paper to show McGillis and that I would bring it back promptly, which I did. The feeling of being watched lessened, but it was still present.

A few people in the teahouses have mentioned seeing someone watching them from out of the corner of their eyes as well.

Did you notice anything unusual about those who have felt observed?

No. I only heard them, I'm sorry. It was by the tea houses, but I didn't want to try getting in more trouble by trying to enter... I'm very worried that being monitored like this would make things come down on me harder, and I don't want to burden everyone with that.

You chose wisely.

Perhaps they are targeting people who might break the law. It is possible...

[It could be easy to lure such an entity, if Kirumi is right]

Has there been anyone else who's gotten this feeling...?

I have not been informed of anybody else feeling that.

[It's Argenti! But he hasn't told anybody yet, I think]

Perhaps they will feel it soon. We must ask once they are all back.

Mm. Regardless, we must be careful. I don't want to know what will happen when we all have eyes on us.

Do you feel prepared? If you feel you need back-up, you can rely on us all.

[Celeste is right there! And Kirumi, by virtue of being devoted to the group, is willing to fight]

More so when we're together than not. But I appreciate the reassurance.

You also are underestimating yourself. While you should not face a situation alone, you are more capable than you give yourself credit for.

[Or at least that’s Kirumi's opinion as someone who routinely pays attention to other's skills and capabilities. There's something about Papaya, she feels]

I felt something similar back at the park. I couldn't pinpoint who that gaze belonged to... This is perhaps more fortunate that we have reconvened.

Hm, perhaps. But they would have had to cross the bridge to follow us.

I don't expect this to be entirely logical, however. We may be experiencing what others have felt in this moment, so that the words they say hold weight. Such as their fears and suspicions.

I don't expect most rules to apply in this world. It's one born of the heart, not of the mind.
