[ Well, he's gonna go ahead and get lost in this photo (painting???) in particular. This might as well happen. He gets pulled in, much to his surprise. When he comes to again, what will he see? ]
A blink and a wave of heat, and characters find themselves on a ghostly beach. A gaggle of children surround a sliced up watermelon in the summer sun, courtesy of the eldest boy.
“And... there! The watermelon’s all cut up. C’mon everyone! Take a slice!”
The teenage girl next to him replies with a laugh, her voice teasing: “Yay! Thank you, Hero! Look at you... Such a big, strong man.”
“Awww... Not now, Mari... Haha...”
While the teens are flirting, one of the younger boys lets out a woop of excitement. “Nothin’ beats a nice, juicy watermelon on a hot, summer day!” He promptly begins chowing down on his slice as the younger girl of the group begins munching at hers, slow but steady, enjoying every bite. Rather than partake in watermelon right away, the blond boy takes out a camera to capture a picture of the girl as she eats, much to her chagrin.
“Hey, don’t take a picture of me while I’m eating, Basil!”
The boy immediately apologizes. “Ah! I’m sorry, Aubrey. I just thought you looked cute! I’ll show you when it’s ready.”
“Well... Okay, fine... I trust you, Basil.” While she doesn’t seem totally convinced, Aubrey seems okay with letting it go for now.
The kids continue to chatter among themselves - the brown haired boy spits out the watermelon seeds, catching Aubrey in the fire, and Aubrey yells for him - Kel - to stop, only for him to laugh at her instead. She extracts her revenge by spitting her seeds on him, and he complains about catching her cooties. Mari and Hero watch as the kids bicker with some amusement, Hero trying to get the kids to get along and Mari fondly recalling when they were the same age and she hid bugs in Hero’s desk to see how he’d react, only for him to exclaim in surprise finding out she was the one behind it all. Next to Aubrey, a black haired boy - Sunny - chats with Basil, who shows him the polaroid of Aubrey eating watermelon. “Aubrey is so cute, isn’t she?”
The sun is shining and the scene is so utterly... normal. A normal group of kids having fun on a normal summer outing. And yet...
There’s the sound of paper tearing, and a dark rift appears in the very air as the scene freezes, the scene once more only a photo - a photo that the characters are still very much stuck in, as that tear slowly begins to grow and grow...
And then, a familiar girl steps through, though her coloration is strangely faded - like a polaroid photo left in the sun. Still, this doesn’t stop her from leveling her nailbat at the scene before her.
It doesn’t matter anymore... None of it does.
She swings her bat, and another tear appears in the air itself, accompanied by a horrendous ripping sound.
[ That's Aubrey? She looks so happy. She looks like she has a group of friends who love her. And yet – there she is in her current form, someone slightly more familiar to him – but slightly faded, pointing her weapon at them...
...no. She's tearing the image apart.
No, that's not right. He can't say he knows what's happened here but it's clear that something awful took place. It doesn't mean that this doesn't bother him, though. ]
[Schneider watches, her gaze calm and steady as she takes it all in. It's a circle of friendship that is completely unfamiliar to her, a childhood innocence that Schneider knew of, but never got to experience herself. She has no comforting words, nor the knowledge of how to work through something like this.
If there was a problem she usually just shot it down]
Hm. Running away and destroying everything in your past to pretend it didn't happen. That's typical.
[If Yoon wants to play the good soul, well, this means Schneider is better equipped to inflict her own cruelty]
[ He will, indeed, play the good soul here, but that doesn't mean he's naive enough to think that Aubrey will go down without a fight. He looks at Schneider. ]
Here, take this!
[ He'll go ahead and give them both a defense buff with Marakukaja. ]
[ There's something not right, with how Aubrey is paper thin... He watches her hit Schneider, and when she pulls back, Yoon grabs his rolling pin and swings at her (14), not with intent to break her but he wants her to back off.
He hates violence, but if that's what he needs to use here, then he'll use it. ]
Apparently her flimsy form really is that - flimsy. Because Yoon's attack tears her right in two, her eyes wide in shock.
She opens her mouth to say something, but it takes a moment before anything comes out.
“...
I just... wanted to see us happy again. But...
It was never going to happen. It isn’t the same anymore. ...It’ll never go back to the way it was.”
Her form buzzes with static, before fading away into shadows. In her wake, a single item is left behind:
Beach ball: Fun in the sun for everyone! Throw at an ally to make them HAPPY.
The rips in the photo remain, however - looking closely, there seems to be a room beyond the tear. And, thanks to all of the fighting, it should now be big enough for everyone to slip through. But before they do, characters may note that the light seems to shine on a nearby picnic basket on the beach. Inside are yummy popsicles in various flavors that couldn’t have been there before - anyone who pauses takes a bite will find their health and SP restored to full.
[ He. He wasn't expecting that. And...wow. What she says seems to shake him. He doesn't pick up the beach ball, so Schneider can get to it if she wants to first.
Yoon turns to look at his ally. ]
That...that wasn't actually her, right?
[ See, this is why you don't pick up weapons haphazardly if you cannot kill. He knows this, and yet... ]

It’s already broken.
It means nothing now.

Make me.
[Think fast Yoon - though apparently he does, because when she takes a swing at him, she misses (5).]
The smiling kids you see in these photos... they don't exist. Not anymore.

[She takes a swing at Schneider, but misses again (2). It does, however, catch on the photo - creating another tear.]

[ And it's clear she needs help. Well, that's how Yoon sees it, anyway. Still, he's not stopping Schneider, either. ]
These people aren't nothing to you! Clearly they mean something, if you're so adamant about throwing them away.

[ She shoots with Perfect Storm (19). Maybe she can knock the bat away? ]
Now stop being fucking stupid.
no subject
You're the ones being stupid. You don't even know any of them. You don't even know me.
[Aubrey(?) winds up another swing, and this time it connects - sorry, Schneider (17)]

Of course not. You share nothing and expect people to get everything. Isn't that just a coward's way?

I don't think that girl is made of paper, no.

You did good, for a boy with a rolling pin. But we've got enough fighters.
no subject
[ That, he can agree with. Speaking of, though, he'll cast Media and give Schneider a heal for that hit she took earlier. ]
There. That should help.

[ That does feel better. She tosses the beach ball at Yoon]
Here, take this.

What is this, exactly?

[Probably...Schneider doesn't do friendships the normal way though]
