WEEKS 5 & 6
WEEKS 5 & 6
THE CALM BEFORE...
- The city has more or less bounced back after the disastrous Go-Kart race. While there are still some people recovering, no one’s hospitalized and there were thankfully no casualties - although there were more injuries than might have been expected, on accounts of some brawls that broke out among the competitors and the audience.
In spite of that, the Shopping District is feeling distinctly friendlier these days. Shopkeepers will take notice of repeat customers and be openly happy to see the better-behaved ones. They may even cut characters a discount on the sly for their patronship!
Perhaps as a result, the Nekyia Shopping District has become clear of haze much like the Nekyia dormitory started. While Shadows still lurk there, they are much fewer in number. Should characters choose to explore some more, they will find that the haze has become thinner in the Nekyia Entertainment District, allowing them to work on cleaning out the various Shadows that reside in that area.
WHAT THE FLUFF.
- Meanwhile, back at the dormitory…
…trouble is amiss, but the fun kind of trouble.
On Sunday, September 1st, it seems like there's an event for pets being hosted at the parks near the dorm! That's fine and dandy, but the trouble comes from owners being careless and letting their animals run loose. That's right, some of them have been given free rein to explore, and a number of them have taken a liking to the dormitory!
You might be able to blame Dawn – that cat from the Nekyia who also appears to give you strange items! – because she's got bowls of cat food around her that she's feasting on. It's attracted some pet cats and strays alike. As for the dogs, well, they like people. Enough said.
Why not treat yourself to some animal therapy while you can? And if not, wrangling any animals that manage to get free works too!
SUMMER DAYS.
- As summer break draws to a close, the Arcade is desperate to not only redeem its reputation, but also squeeze the last bit of pocket change out of people while they’re still on vacation. As a result, there is an ongoing discount on point cards allowing people to play competitive arcade games - Classics like Mirmo Kart and Street Slayer, as well as shinier rhythm games like Dancerun Stardom and LaiLai Universe Plus!
Of course, the hope is that characters drawn in by the arcade games will stick around for the other offerings - karaoke, bowling, ufo catchers, and even a bar (for those 21+!) And if none of these attractions are enough to catch a character’s eye, there’s plenty of other activities to be found in Carnation Court. Besides the restaurants and bars, there are many themed pop-up cafés and events, and even a few empty buildings with a very reasonable lease fee, should someone want to run an event of their own...
While the mood isn’t as open and friendly as the shopping district, it’s still worth a visit to relax and unwind a bit, preferably alongside Braphine’s other chosen. After all, there are Shadows looming on the horizon...
MESSAGE FROM YOUR RA!
Huh...? That's weird. It looks like a really big Shadow took up residence in the Nekyia. Hold on, I'll set things up so the app will give you the coordinates! Could you please check it out?

M' not in the mood fer your damn riddle flirting, Celeste!
[HE IS SORE.]
no subject
[He was absolutely going to indulge in "riddle flirting" to check on him, but like. Now he needs to know what Izou means by that.]
no subject
[Not real flirting.]
no subject
[Tonight, he'll relent. Will Izou regret making him? Only time will tell.]
I am here to check on you. I joined you here [Patting the bean bag, even if the movement does scooch him closer a bit by virtue of that's just how bean bag chairs are-] because I thought you might react... cutely. In some way. And because I like being close to people I have some affection for.
no subject
What'd I say about callin' me cute!? I ain't cute!!!
[I'M A BIG MASCULINE MAN!!!! He can't even acknowledge the last part rn.]
no subject
[His tone does not agree.]
Not cute, of course. Regardless, I am staying right here with this not-cute man, because I want to.
no subject
[Yeah that's the problem. He didn't kill McGillis well enough.]
no subject
[...Because if they didn't, then both Izou and McGillis were likely to have died, honestly, and much as they might try to insist they're both good for nothings with no one to care about them (Izou less so now, in fairness-), that's very much not true.]
no subject
[Which he wouldn't openly admit if it wasn't someone he was comfortable with like Celeste.]
no subject
And you nearly had his arm off.
no subject
No his other eye is completely normal he just wears his hair like this because he's scrungly and probably thinks it makes him look mysterious. He also is too tired to be prickly, apparently, because he leans into the touch with a tiny pleased noise.]
Heh, I did, didn't I? If I had my servant powers he wouldn't still have one at all.
[Can you imagine having to wrangle Izou if he was stronger than he already is?]
no subject
But, yeah. Normal eye! And Celeste sure does notice that he leans in and makes a pleased little noise, so he just keeps petting him gently, since Izou seems open to accepting this much affection at least.]
And if I had my powers it would have been easier to get you two to stop fighting.
[Luckily, there'd be no wrangling required when he could just get them to stop fucking around with each other to pay attention to him.
...Though he could probably put up a decent college try in the wrangling department, too.]
no subject
... What kinda powers do you have normally, anyway? Do you turn into a bat.
no subject
No, I don't know how to do that one, but someone I know can turn into a bear and another can turn into a cat, so I could learn, if I cared to.
[Which means it is something that is possible for vampires in his world! And not just bats!]
But as for me... I am fast. ['Teleports behind you' fast--] My senses are much better than a human's, and I can inspire awe or fear at will as well.
[That's the "stop fighting now, fuckers" power, Izou.]
no subject
What like, you just point at someone all like "get scared now!" and they do!?
[Emphasizing his mental image by pointing]
no subject
Not nearly so direct. I merely have to exist in their presence to be overwhelmingly intimidating. Mm... and if I exert a bit more effort, they'll likely run away, or do whatever I tell them to. Depending on how they react to fear, of course.
[It kind of eliminates the "fight" response, but "flight, freeze, or fawn" are all still on the table.]
no subject
Damn, that's even cooler... It's a good thing yer not some sorta evil vampire with powers like that.
no subject
Oh? Am I not?
[Teasing, teasing--]
no subject
[He's actually trying to reason things out]
no subject
[...And that still doesn't explain why he's hopping into the Nekiya all the dang time. "Workaholic" only explains so much.]
no subject
[LOGIC!!! SPECIFIC EXAMPLES!!! Surely he's going to say something really stupid next to compensate for this.]
no subject
...I suppose you do have a point. While I may endeavor to be less human, I do not truly wish to be evil.
no subject
no subject
[And there are those whose only experience with the supernatural is with the darker sides of it...]
And it is true that the older one becomes, the more difficult it is to remain decent... But I suppose I'll just have to keep you around to keep an eye on me, no?
no subject
[That's an even easier case to argue than Celeste. Not offense to Celeste.]
But oi, oi, I gotta get back ta Fujimaru when we're done here, y'know? The world may have gone ta shit back there, but I can't... I wouldn't be right fer me ta abandon her.
