WEEKS 5 & 6
WEEKS 5 & 6
THE CALM BEFORE...
- The city has more or less bounced back after the disastrous Go-Kart race. While there are still some people recovering, no one’s hospitalized and there were thankfully no casualties - although there were more injuries than might have been expected, on accounts of some brawls that broke out among the competitors and the audience.
In spite of that, the Shopping District is feeling distinctly friendlier these days. Shopkeepers will take notice of repeat customers and be openly happy to see the better-behaved ones. They may even cut characters a discount on the sly for their patronship!
Perhaps as a result, the Nekyia Shopping District has become clear of haze much like the Nekyia dormitory started. While Shadows still lurk there, they are much fewer in number. Should characters choose to explore some more, they will find that the haze has become thinner in the Nekyia Entertainment District, allowing them to work on cleaning out the various Shadows that reside in that area.
WHAT THE FLUFF.
- Meanwhile, back at the dormitory…
…trouble is amiss, but the fun kind of trouble.
On Sunday, September 1st, it seems like there's an event for pets being hosted at the parks near the dorm! That's fine and dandy, but the trouble comes from owners being careless and letting their animals run loose. That's right, some of them have been given free rein to explore, and a number of them have taken a liking to the dormitory!
You might be able to blame Dawn – that cat from the Nekyia who also appears to give you strange items! – because she's got bowls of cat food around her that she's feasting on. It's attracted some pet cats and strays alike. As for the dogs, well, they like people. Enough said.
Why not treat yourself to some animal therapy while you can? And if not, wrangling any animals that manage to get free works too!
SUMMER DAYS.
- As summer break draws to a close, the Arcade is desperate to not only redeem its reputation, but also squeeze the last bit of pocket change out of people while they’re still on vacation. As a result, there is an ongoing discount on point cards allowing people to play competitive arcade games - Classics like Mirmo Kart and Street Slayer, as well as shinier rhythm games like Dancerun Stardom and LaiLai Universe Plus!
Of course, the hope is that characters drawn in by the arcade games will stick around for the other offerings - karaoke, bowling, ufo catchers, and even a bar (for those 21+!) And if none of these attractions are enough to catch a character’s eye, there’s plenty of other activities to be found in Carnation Court. Besides the restaurants and bars, there are many themed pop-up cafés and events, and even a few empty buildings with a very reasonable lease fee, should someone want to run an event of their own...
While the mood isn’t as open and friendly as the shopping district, it’s still worth a visit to relax and unwind a bit, preferably alongside Braphine’s other chosen. After all, there are Shadows looming on the horizon...
MESSAGE FROM YOUR RA!
Huh...? That's weird. It looks like a really big Shadow took up residence in the Nekyia. Hold on, I'll set things up so the app will give you the coordinates! Could you please check it out?

For plotting, please feel free to head over to this post on the OOC comm to post your plotting top levels.
For Nekyia commissions, you can assume that the Shadows will respawn until they've been beaten enough times to go back to normal.

[ What are you thinking, Eli. ]

[ Sunrise has no choice in the matter. He is snagging an arm and rushing off with her, off and across town, towards the arcade. ]

Where are we going...?
no subject
[ He points ahead of them. A building lit up brightly with flashing lights and people going in and out, most young. Inside? Well, it's a mystery until they step in. The windows don't show much of what's there, but there are posters announcing new games and discounts on point cards to play. ]
It's full of games, and you can win prizes. A lot of those are stuffed animals!
no subject
Can we go inside?
no subject
[ With that proclamation, he hurries inside, waving at her to follow along. The first stop is the token machine, which he feeds a substantial amount of his commission earnings. Look, it's for a good cause! ]
Okay, I figure... I split these tokens, and we both play for, uh. Whatever you want. The games that give tickets will let you get those big ones at the prize place there.
[ He points it out. They have supersized teddy bears and all sorts of other cute critters. ]
But our chances of getting more than one are small. Then there's those.
[ He turns and points to the crane games instead. ]
You got to fish them out with the little arm thing on your own but once you do, they're yours. They're a lot smaller, though.
no subject
As much as she likes the supersized stuffed toys, Sunrise figures that any prize should be able to fit into her box back home if she wants to even hope to bring it with her. ]
Let us try that one, then. [ She points at a crane game. ]

[ He'll give Sunrise her own stack of tokens before heading for the row of crane games. There's a variety of them with quite a few random items, but they stop at the three holding plush toys. Animals (1), colorful food item plushies (2), and plush toys from Goodbye Doggy (3), a very popular franchise of adorable little cartoon animals dressed like people. ]
no subject
Let us try that one.
[ She points at the Goodbye Doggy machine. ]

[ TOKEN ONE IS IN! Eli hunches over the controls and wiggles it, making the claw brrRrrRrrRrr clunkily over the pile of Goodbye Doggy plushies. He does his best to position it over one of them and hits the down button...!
Aaaand... misses. The claw closes on nothing (9). ]
...er... shit. Missed that one.
no subject
Let me try.
[ She'll move the arm around a bit, before the arm finally lands somewhere in the pile of plushies...and grabs hold of one (14) (3). ]
!

Aah, careful now, get it over the chute before dropping it!
[ Eli is strangely excited about this. Look, it's almost like hunting, in a way. Regardless, once Sunrise has it over the chute and the crane machine claw lets go, it slides down into reach. Congratulations! Sunrise has received one My Cacophony plush, an adorable rat character dressed up like a heavy metal fan with a hoodie hood pulled over her cute little ears. ]

Cute...
no subject
Yeah, it is. You want to keep going? See how many we get?
no subject
Yes, let us keep trying.
[ If they somehow end up with an excess, then she can give them to other people. ]
no subject
[ Eli put thirty bucks into that thing. After the first two tries, they both have fourteen tokens left. Let's... GET THOSE PLUSHIES!
(Pick your target - 1, 2, or 3 - and roll a d20 for each try. 11-20 is a success! Proceed to roll 1d10 to see what you get according to the spreadsheet.) ]

For some reason she gets fairly lucky at the food mushable machine (15, 16, 2) and wins the pineapple and mushroom. (8, 7.)
Her attempt at the animal plushie crane game is...not so fruitful (10, 7, 15, 8, 6), but she has obtained a bee (10.)
And then maybe it's sheer dumb luck or determination, but she wins big at the Goodbye Doggy crane game (20, 7, 17, 15, 17, 16). The result is 2 Goodbye Doggies, Raisinamoroll, another My Cacopheny, and Bombomburin (3, 1, 4, 1, 5). ]

From the Goodbye Doggy machine (10, 1, 11), he only wins a lone Cochappo (9). Sad showing, Eli, but at least he got something.
Next up, the food mushables (8, 17, 10, 13, 15) and from that, he comes away a Bowl of Ramen, the Loaf of Bread, and the Avocado plushes (3, 5, 6).
Then finally, the adorable animals machine (20, 15, 16, 14, 8, 8). He gets... really lucky on this one, netting them four whole plushes: a chicken, two pigs, and an elephant (8, 5, 5, 2).
So, to add everything up, they have now obtained a whole 17 plushies for Sunrise. ]

...She's smiling? Actually smiling??? ]
Thank you.
no subject
You're... [ Aw, that's very cute. ] You're welcome, Sunshine. Now you'll always have something cute to cuddle, yeah?
no subject
[ She seems pretty pleased with this... Sunrise carefully gathers the plushies into one arm, then gestures for Eli to lean down.]

Sunrise is happy.
Also... it's a friend who's patting him on the head, not some asshole, making fun of him, calling him a dog. ]
no subject
After a while though, she pulls her hand back, because Sunrise does have enough self-awareness to know she can't keep doing it forever. ]
