WEEKS 5 & 6
WEEKS 5 & 6
THE CALM BEFORE...
- The city has more or less bounced back after the disastrous Go-Kart race. While there are still some people recovering, no one’s hospitalized and there were thankfully no casualties - although there were more injuries than might have been expected, on accounts of some brawls that broke out among the competitors and the audience.
In spite of that, the Shopping District is feeling distinctly friendlier these days. Shopkeepers will take notice of repeat customers and be openly happy to see the better-behaved ones. They may even cut characters a discount on the sly for their patronship!
Perhaps as a result, the Nekyia Shopping District has become clear of haze much like the Nekyia dormitory started. While Shadows still lurk there, they are much fewer in number. Should characters choose to explore some more, they will find that the haze has become thinner in the Nekyia Entertainment District, allowing them to work on cleaning out the various Shadows that reside in that area.
WHAT THE FLUFF.
- Meanwhile, back at the dormitory…
…trouble is amiss, but the fun kind of trouble.
On Sunday, September 1st, it seems like there's an event for pets being hosted at the parks near the dorm! That's fine and dandy, but the trouble comes from owners being careless and letting their animals run loose. That's right, some of them have been given free rein to explore, and a number of them have taken a liking to the dormitory!
You might be able to blame Dawn – that cat from the Nekyia who also appears to give you strange items! – because she's got bowls of cat food around her that she's feasting on. It's attracted some pet cats and strays alike. As for the dogs, well, they like people. Enough said.
Why not treat yourself to some animal therapy while you can? And if not, wrangling any animals that manage to get free works too!
SUMMER DAYS.
- As summer break draws to a close, the Arcade is desperate to not only redeem its reputation, but also squeeze the last bit of pocket change out of people while they’re still on vacation. As a result, there is an ongoing discount on point cards allowing people to play competitive arcade games - Classics like Mirmo Kart and Street Slayer, as well as shinier rhythm games like Dancerun Stardom and LaiLai Universe Plus!
Of course, the hope is that characters drawn in by the arcade games will stick around for the other offerings - karaoke, bowling, ufo catchers, and even a bar (for those 21+!) And if none of these attractions are enough to catch a character’s eye, there’s plenty of other activities to be found in Carnation Court. Besides the restaurants and bars, there are many themed pop-up cafés and events, and even a few empty buildings with a very reasonable lease fee, should someone want to run an event of their own...
While the mood isn’t as open and friendly as the shopping district, it’s still worth a visit to relax and unwind a bit, preferably alongside Braphine’s other chosen. After all, there are Shadows looming on the horizon...
MESSAGE FROM YOUR RA!
Huh...? That's weird. It looks like a really big Shadow took up residence in the Nekyia. Hold on, I'll set things up so the app will give you the coordinates! Could you please check it out?

...Huh?
[ There's Eli, just devouring everything like a madman -- a bottomless pit of a stomach. It's kind of amazing...
Yoon sneaks his way through the crowd, and Eli may be able to spot him near the front of the crowd in the midst of eating his food. Yoon is just staring in awe, though, like the rest of the crowd. At some point towards the end, though, Yoon gets a little overexcited and decides cheering Eli on is a good thing to do?? ]
You're almost there! You can do it!
no subject
Youf! Picffure guh!
[ Hang on, one sec. He points at the opposite side of his booth. Sit, sit! Then, he gets back to shoving those final few pieces of food down his gullet. Om. There it is. He... has eaten that massive burger in one sitting. The crowd goes wild, kind of. There's some applause, at least, which Eli thinks is bizarre, but people here are weird overall. It's fine. ]
no subject
[ He says, despite going to sit across of Eli. And, uh, there sure is a lot of applause going on. Even Yoon gets caught up in it and claps, too. ]
Wow, though. You finished that whole thing like it was nothing.
no subject
I mean, I was pretty hungry, so...
[ It's about now that the manager comes over to present him with his prize! A ticket book of free meal vouchers! Of course, it's a limited number, but it's hardly anything to scoff at. Eli, being Eli, gives the manager a funny look as he hands it over and congratulates him on being the first in the past three years to finish the burger in one sitting. ]
...wait, this was a challenge thing?!
[ Yes. He didn't know. He just wanted a huge burger. This earns some confusion. Yes? It was? Can they take a photo of him to put on their wall? ]
no subject
[ ELI IS SO COOL. ]
Your hunger came in handy. There's no way the average person could finish that.
no subject
[ Ha ha, yeah, he is cool! So cool! Surely, nothing will ever disillusion Yoon of this ideal version of Eli! Of course, he'll pose for the photo with a grin and accept the booklet. ]
Ah, well, I'm full, but did you want something? I can get you some food, too.
no subject
[ ... ]
Not that burger, though. That's too much for me.
no subject
[ This isn't an insult. He likes those, too. Admittedly, he's fairly new to this kind of American-style fast food himself. ]
no subject
[ ayooo modern food 101 time ]
no subject
[ He's waving one down. It isn't polite of him but thems the breaks. ]
Can I use one of these to get my buddy here a chicken strip basket with fries? [ Yes, he can. Will that be all? ] A milkshake, too. Uh. Strawberry, I figure.
[ He still has his own milkshake to finish, so he won't get himself anything more. Well, there we go, off goes the order for Yoon. It'll be here shortly. ]
no subject
[ See? This is why Eli is so cool! Look at how much he knows, wow!!! ]
I...I guess this'll be my first time trying fried potato strips...and the chicken strips, and a "milkshake". I'm not sure what to expect, but -- thanks.
no subject
Pretty sure you'll like it. Most the food here is good. I plan to eat as much of it as I can before the end of this nonsense sends us all back to where we're from.
[ Of course, it isn't long to get out a simple dish like that one, and soon Yoon will have chicken strips, fries, and a strawberry milkshake all to himself. ]
no subject
Wow...there's so much!
[ He doesn't really know where to start, but he'll try the milkshake first. He takes a little sip...
...and his eyes light up. ]
That's really sweet, but it's delicious! Ah, I've never tasted anything like this before!
[ thanks Eli, enjoy the dorkiest reaction to a milkshake imaginable ]
no subject
Ha, yeah. It's made from ice cream, which is just frozen milk? Then more milk? Then whatever flavor you want, I think.
no subject
[ Oh...oh! That sure is a good combination! ]
Ah, can you make it on your own? Or is this something a professional has to handle? ... N-not that I'm a lackluster cook or anything, but the technology here is still pretty new to me!
no subject
[ Eli looks into the depths of his own milkshake, prodding at it with his straw. ]
Probably? I think you just got to freeze the milk, so if you have access to ice, I'd think so.
