What's Up?

Mafuyu and Aerith have hatched a plan to give Braphine's Chosen some time to relax and have fun together! And just in the nick of time...

Date and Location

Afternoon of Monday, October tth into October 8th
The Aquarium within the Office District

The sway of water

It's a normal morning for anyone who's managing to sleep a standard schedule- up until a mass text goes out, that is. Everyone will find the same thing from either Mafuyu or Aerith's username:

ONE NIGHT STAY-OVER AT THE LOCAL AQUARIUM, SCHEDULED MONDAY, OCTOBER SEVENTH!! All of Braphine's Chosen are invited to an exclusive event hosted at the aquarium where guests can spend the day taking tours and then sleep over in qualified areas. Dining will be provided, all we have to bring is ourselves, changes of clothes and pillows and blankets. (And yes, the floors will be extra clean.)

... Simple enough. And should you choose to attend, both your hostesses will be pleased to see you once it's time to head over.

As they said, the aquarium is largely empty save for the group, and it's definitely worth it. A serene song plays overhead while attendants give tours or explanations as needed. The variety of aquatic life is surprisingly vast as well, and spacious halls give way to plenty of opportunity to explore.

Come nightfall, certain rooms dim the lights but the tanks stay lit- or black lit as darker enclosures like the jellyfish hall and the octopus tanks remain- and only a few staff remain to keep an eye on things- so... stay on your best behavior. The two restaurants stay open- a regular fast food joint with kitschy island cabana theming, and a much more upscale lounge where Aerith plans on corralling the adults for fun this evening.

Once it's time for the age groups to split, Aerith will lead the adults to a pleasant lounge with more tanks, large couches or more private tables, and a view overlooking one of the main rooms of the aquarium- wave to the kids if they're there! Or don't. Bouquets of flowers are placed around the room, and it looks like Aerith has a few ideas already, though she won't stop anyone from going out to review the different sections again.

Contrasting Mafuyu, who is content to let the fellow teens do whatever- though if they do congregate, she's not really the social sort and will simply be content to enjoy the vibes. Even if you just want to take a nap somewhere, there's plenty of dark secluded areas to do so.

This log is for an ic sleepover hosted at the aquarium! All characters are invited but attendance is not mandatory. That said, there are still staff members ready to boot any troublemakers out. We wanted to keep the types of displays vague to give everyone creative freedom, and characters are welcome to flit about between groups as they desire, be it to check in or to to snoop or whatever. As discussed with the mods, this does count as an open event and can be used for rewards. Thank you all for your interest!

I have never been good at imagining. This seems like the kind of place I'd have to see myself to believe.

I dreamt about it when I first got here, and some others managed to find their way into my dream when I did...

[ Here he finally pauses to get a good look at her. ]

...But you didn't, did you?

I didn't. I'm sorry -- for the last couple weeks, I have been preoccupied with some rather difficult circumstances.

[Disappearing for a palace and then having to rest and what not]

I'm.......

[...at this point she still doesn't know what to call herself, so she just sighs]

...it's nice to meet you.

Oh, that's okay!

[ Rutile, who does not know about palaces at this point. ]

It's nice to meet you, too—I'm Rutile. [ He notices the pause, so he just offers a little smile. ] Is there anything you'd like me to call you?

[ It doesn't even have to be her real name... ]

I'm not sure yet. Perhaps you could come up with a nickname for me. I'm open to that.

[And thank goodness she's not wearing her maid uniform and therefore associating that career to her is much harder now, because if she got called that, she'd feel pretty bummed out]

Hmm.

[ Something probably happened that's keeping her from wanting to share the name she would usually use, so...

Rutile rests his finger on his chin and tilts his head as he studies her, eyes darting across her face, taking in her features, her hair color. And after a momentary pause, he speaks gently, asking for her approval. ]

What about Dawn?

[Hmmmm...Dawn...

...she gives it thought. A dawn feels hopeful and positive. As she feels right now, she doesn't feel like she can consider herself a nice dawn. She can't associate it with her properly.

That saaaaaid...]

I wouldn't mind if you called me that.

[Maybe she just needs exposure to it. In the end she wouldn't be able to accept Dawn as a name, but right now, she makes a valiant effort to take a positive spin to her life]

Good, Dawn it is!

[ Rutile claps his hands together quietly. Not in his usual loud, explosive clap. ]

Your hair reminds me of waking up in the morning after a long, long drought and seeing rain clouds. It's nice.

[ He smiles! ]

And again, it's lovely to meet you.

That was...

[Goodness gracious, how poetic! She's in disbelief for a moment, and then she laughs softly]

You're extremely flattering. I'm speechless.

[She liked that, really! Hadn't ever heard a compliment like that]

[ He chuckles! ] I only said it because it's true. I do like your hair!

[ He then tears the picture he drew from his sketchbook and hands it to her. ]

You can have this, too!

[kandata]

I can?

[Oh, she'll gladly take it! She's holding it like it's something valuable]

I feel I should give you something in exchange. I know I'm the one who suggested this topic for the drawing, but that doesn't seem enough of an exchange.

[speedingticket]

Don't even worry about it. [ He's beaming! He's also glad she took the picture and the name. ] I'm just glad I got to meet you!

[kandata]

You are?

[That's blindingly sociable! She's kind of surprised by such a response, really!]

[speedingticket]

I am! [ With an earnest nod and a smile— ] I got here only a couple of weeks ago, so everyone new I meet in the same situation is me is like a new friend. Every meeting makes me happy.

[ He's very sociable. ]

And I'm also happy you like my picture.

[kandata]

In that case, I'll help you in all I can. [She's not the local maid anymore, but she can help as a normal everyday person] Questions, requests, anything else...I'm willing to help with anything.

[She says that while carefully folding the drawing to take it with her. She's certainly going to save it!]
