What's Up?

Mafuyu and Aerith have hatched a plan to give Braphine's Chosen some time to relax and have fun together! And just in the nick of time...

Afternoon of Monday, October tth into October 8th
The Aquarium within the Office District

The sway of water

It's a normal morning for anyone who's managing to sleep a standard schedule- up until a mass text goes out, that is. Everyone will find the same thing from either Mafuyu or Aerith's username:

... Simple enough. And should you choose to attend, both your hostesses will be pleased to see you once it's time to head over.

As they said, the aquarium is largely empty save for the group, and it's definitely worth it. A serene song plays overhead while attendants give tours or explanations as needed. The variety of aquatic life is surprisingly vast as well, and spacious halls give way to plenty of opportunity to explore.

Come nightfall, certain rooms dim the lights but the tanks stay lit- or black lit as darker enclosures like the jellyfish hall and the octopus tanks remain- and only a few staff remain to keep an eye on things- so... stay on your best behavior. The two restaurants stay open- a regular fast food joint with kitschy island cabana theming, and a much more upscale lounge where Aerith plans on corralling the adults for fun this evening.

Once it's time for the age groups to split, Aerith will lead the adults to a pleasant lounge with more tanks, large couches or more private tables, and a view overlooking one of the main rooms of the aquarium- wave to the kids if they're there! Or don't. Bouquets of flowers are placed around the room, and it looks like Aerith has a few ideas already, though she won't stop anyone from going out to review the different sections again.

Contrasting Mafuyu, who is content to let the fellow teens do whatever- though if they do congregate, she's not really the social sort and will simply be content to enjoy the vibes. Even if you just want to take a nap somewhere, there's plenty of dark secluded areas to do so.

This log is for an ic sleepover hosted at the aquarium! All characters are invited but attendance is not mandatory. That said, there are still staff members ready to boot any troublemakers out. We wanted to keep the types of displays vague to give everyone creative freedom, and characters are welcome to flit about between groups as they desire, be it to check in or to to snoop or whatever. As discussed with the mods, this does count as an open event and can be used for rewards. Thank you all for your interest!

Man, I wish. Most I did was tag along when my mom got invited to a couple of 'em. The food was good, but I never got to do any of the fun stuff.

Sounds to me like you've gotta attend a wedding or two soon, then. I'm kinda surprised you haven't made a point of it just for the drinks.

I only turned of age a few months ago. And since it happened right as I moved to the capital, I’d rather spend my free time seeing the sights.

I wouldn’t say no if I got an invite, though.

It hasn’t been all fun and games, but hell if it hasn’t been interesting. But it’s kinda weird to think I’ve been here longer than I’ve been living in Edith.

Tell me some of those stories another time. I'd like to hear about it, even if it's not the fun kind of story.

Sure, it's not like I've got anything to hide. Could even do it a later tonight, once the party's settled down.

That's a great idea! We can find a place with some extra cool fish and sit with them.

[ Maybe some cool sharks? Who knows! ]

[Looking over at the tanks around them...]

You feeling anything in particular?

[He doesn't mind the aquarium, but he prefers eating fish over watching them swim around, so there's no particular preference from him.]

[ She'll point right to the sharks—hammerheads specifically. ]

How about those?

[ Honestly, Aaron doesn't really get a say here, she's already making her way towards them. ]

[You know what, there are worse choices than sharks because they still have a certain cool factor to them, so he follows without protest.]

I'll give 'em a seven outta ten for the novelty. Never seen these ones before, but it's not like we get many sharks by our coasts to begin with.

[He directs his gaze to the tank, watching the hammerheads glide through the water.]

Lots of other fish, though. My hometown's mostly known for its port, but there's still plenty of mira to be made if you're a fisherman.

They certainly are novel, as Aerith only saw them when she came to the aquarium with Mafuyu previously. Creatures like this don't really exist back home. ]

Yeah, although it's not my first choice of activity. But some of the old fossils around town enjoyed the company, so I went along with it occasionally.

So you fished with the older folks around town just to make them happy? That's real sweet of you, Aaron.

Wasn't that big of a deal. Had a lot of 'em looking out for me when I was still a kid, so I figured I could do that much.

[ Oh? No embarrassment? This feels like progress in some way. ]

Bet they really appreciated it, though. It means a lot when someone you help out comes back around to repay the favor. I bet you've been on that side of it too.

Not gonna deny it. My bros have come in clutch for me before. Although I guess that applies to stuff that happened here, too.

[Whether it's something big or something small, he does appreciate it even if he doesn't always express it directly.]

I think so. Every palace I've been in, you've been right there too. I bet you're doing little favors where I can't see too.

[ She wouldn't doubt it!! ]

Heh... maybe. Shame they haven't been like the 'favors' I do back at home, though.

But anyway, I'm just doing whatever the hell I want. Whether it's beating up some Shadows or sightseeing in the capital, that much hasn't changed. So you really don't have to read into it.

You sure? What if I wanna read into it, huh?

[ She's teasing, but there's a mischievous lilt in her voice that says she's very much reading into it. ]

Seems like helping people falls under doing whatever the hell you want.

[There's a shrug as he shakes his head at the teasing, although there's an affectedness to the gesture that makes it clear it's all exaggerated.]

You can thank our local God of Conflict for that. With everything going tits up each week, can't really afford not having all hands on deck. But just so you know, I don't usually do this shit for free.

You know... neither do I. Usually we do favors for people for rewards back home. Kinda need to if we wanna keep traveling.
