What's Up?

Mafuyu and Aerith have hatched a plan to give Braphine's Chosen some time to relax and have fun together! And just in the nick of time...

Date and Location

Afternoon of Monday, October tth into October 8th
The Aquarium within the Office District

The sway of water

It's a normal morning for anyone who's managing to sleep a standard schedule- up until a mass text goes out, that is. Everyone will find the same thing from either Mafuyu or Aerith's username:

ONE NIGHT STAY-OVER AT THE LOCAL AQUARIUM, SCHEDULED MONDAY, OCTOBER SEVENTH!! All of Braphine's Chosen are invited to an exclusive event hosted at the aquarium where guests can spend the day taking tours and then sleep over in qualified areas. Dining will be provided, all we have to bring is ourselves, changes of clothes and pillows and blankets. (And yes, the floors will be extra clean.)

... Simple enough. And should you choose to attend, both your hostesses will be pleased to see you once it's time to head over.

As they said, the aquarium is largely empty save for the group, and it's definitely worth it. A serene song plays overhead while attendants give tours or explanations as needed. The variety of aquatic life is surprisingly vast as well, and spacious halls give way to plenty of opportunity to explore.

Come nightfall, certain rooms dim the lights but the tanks stay lit- or black lit as darker enclosures like the jellyfish hall and the octopus tanks remain- and only a few staff remain to keep an eye on things- so... stay on your best behavior. The two restaurants stay open- a regular fast food joint with kitschy island cabana theming, and a much more upscale lounge where Aerith plans on corralling the adults for fun this evening.

Once it's time for the age groups to split, Aerith will lead the adults to a pleasant lounge with more tanks, large couches or more private tables, and a view overlooking one of the main rooms of the aquarium- wave to the kids if they're there! Or don't. Bouquets of flowers are placed around the room, and it looks like Aerith has a few ideas already, though she won't stop anyone from going out to review the different sections again.

Contrasting Mafuyu, who is content to let the fellow teens do whatever- though if they do congregate, she's not really the social sort and will simply be content to enjoy the vibes. Even if you just want to take a nap somewhere, there's plenty of dark secluded areas to do so.

This log is for an ic sleepover hosted at the aquarium! All characters are invited but attendance is not mandatory. That said, there are still staff members ready to boot any troublemakers out. We wanted to keep the types of displays vague to give everyone creative freedom, and characters are welcome to flit about between groups as they desire, be it to check in or to to snoop or whatever. As discussed with the mods, this does count as an open event and can be used for rewards. Thank you all for your interest!

Pretty much. Besides, it's not like I can stop people from saying whatever crazy shit comes to their minds, so I might as well make the most of it.

Oh, gosh no. My managers and my father would've had an absolute fit if I did--if anything, I feel like I've been missing out this entire time. Learning about people and getting to play a silly game?

It's really so much fun! I take it you have played before, Wei-san?

It's not my usual thing, but I've done it with my bros a couple of times. We didn't have all this booze flowing, though, so this is actually my first time doing this with real drinks.

I bet you guys must've had a lotta fun, huh? I'm glad you're getting to experience this with us too. Honestly, if my managers wouldn't have a fit at this, I would've loved to play something like this with the girls in my group...they'd probably enjoy the chance to unwind a bit. It really is relaxing!

But those girls of yours -- they go up on stage with you, yeah? Most of my performances were done solo, so I can't say I've had the same experience.

[Snrk. Sayaka makes a slightly undignified noise in agreement, to say the least.]

No disagreement there, that's for sure.

[But the question about Sayaka's friends gets her to beam, and she nods her head happily.]

They do, yes! We're all arranged on stage and we try to play to each other's strengths--Satomi-san, our group leader, she was always very insistent about that. But it was always so much fun to work with everyone and make the show the best it could be, while showing off what we could each bring to the table.

[It's interesting to hear how they organize themselves -- it makes sense, and he's plenty used to making the most of individual strengths when it comes to coordinating in a battle, but on stage, having the spotlight solely on him was more invigorating than anything else. Even so, hearing Sayaka's account makes him think that maybe it might be interesting to try out a group performance at least once.]

So what'd you end up known for? I caught the show you did with the others at the flea market, but this idol stuff's still pretty niche in Calvard.

[The only groups that he's vaguely heard of are small and limited to playing at local clubs and whatnot.]

Oh, our group was one of the most popular in the world where I come from, actually! We had well over one hundred million fans to our name; each of us brought something different to the table that made people just love us, honestly. We sang a lot of lovey, cutesy songs together, and that was our group's brand primarily. Teeth rotting cuteness.

[Some days she misses that sort of performance. Singing with Ai and Mafuyu at least made it a little less of a daunting task, though she doubts she'll ever go back to it.]

I was the center of the group and sort of played a role as a more...down to earth type of girl, I guess I'd call it? It was a lot of pressure to keep up a role like that, but I wasn't mad about it. It was better than having to play up some sort of quirk.

[There's a whistle when he hears the figure she puts out, because that is far above and beyond the population of Calvard, despite it being one of the largest countries on the continent. Anything too saccharine isn't particularly his speed, but he would admit that the few songs that he has heard are fairly catchy.

Being cast in that sort of role though... yeah, he can see it. But pressure, huh.]

Guess that's just how it goes when you've got all eyes on you. Still, was that why you were stuck doing the nice girl act? You said your manager wouldn't let you guys do any fun shit, either.

[Okay, maybe that wasn't quite what Sayaka said, but that's how he interpreted it!!]

But you're right, yeah. We had to maintain these acts to keep our jobs in the field--with so many other girls trying to make their own dreams come true, it was kind of like...job security, in a way? We follow the rules to the letter and nothing happens.

But honestly. It was so restrictive! I couldn't really do many fun things to begin with because my managers kept piling more and more work on us, but man...what I wouldn't have given to be able to goof off like this just once...
