What's Up?

Mafuyu and Aerith have hatched a plan to give Braphine's Chosen some time to relax and have fun together! And just in the nick of time...

Date and Location

Afternoon of Monday, October tth into October 8th
The Aquarium within the Office District

The sway of water

It's a normal morning for anyone who's managing to sleep a standard schedule- up until a mass text goes out, that is. Everyone will find the same thing from either Mafuyu or Aerith's username:

... Simple enough. And should you choose to attend, both your hostesses will be pleased to see you once it's time to head over.

As they said, the aquarium is largely empty save for the group, and it's definitely worth it. A serene song plays overhead while attendants give tours or explanations as needed. The variety of aquatic life is surprisingly vast as well, and spacious halls give way to plenty of opportunity to explore.

Come nightfall, certain rooms dim the lights but the tanks stay lit- or black lit as darker enclosures like the jellyfish hall and the octopus tanks remain- and only a few staff remain to keep an eye on things- so... stay on your best behavior. The two restaurants stay open- a regular fast food joint with kitschy island cabana theming, and a much more upscale lounge where Aerith plans on corralling the adults for fun this evening.

Once it's time for the age groups to split, Aerith will lead the adults to a pleasant lounge with more tanks, large couches or more private tables, and a view overlooking one of the main rooms of the aquarium- wave to the kids if they're there! Or don't. Bouquets of flowers are placed around the room, and it looks like Aerith has a few ideas already, though she won't stop anyone from going out to review the different sections again.

Contrasting Mafuyu, who is content to let the fellow teens do whatever- though if they do congregate, she's not really the social sort and will simply be content to enjoy the vibes. Even if you just want to take a nap somewhere, there's plenty of dark secluded areas to do so.

Out of character!

This log is for an ic sleepover hosted at the aquarium! All characters are invited but attendance is not mandatory. That said, there are still staff members ready to boot any troublemakers out. We wanted to keep the types of displays vague to give everyone creative freedom, and characters are welcome to flit about between groups as they desire, be it to check in or to to snoop or whatever. As discussed with the mods, this does count as an open event and can be used for rewards. Thank you all for your interest!

[Heck yeah aquarium sleepover adventure! Arven being present is a no-brainer, seeing as Mafuyu is one of the hosts, but he'd still attend even without the added incentive. He's never really been to a sleepover before, so he's happy to be able to get one in while he's still a kid. And boy is this one heck of a sleepover.]

1 - aquarium tour

[Feel free to run into Arven during one of the many aquarium tours. He's constantly thrown off by the many different species of fish and other aquatic life.]

Wow...some of these are so close to Pokemon, yet totally different at the same time. Wild huh, bud?

[Woof. Yes, of course Mabosstiff is here on the tour too. Arven wouldn't want his best bud to miss it for the world.]

2 - playtime with Mabosstiff

[Since he promised Atem and Aaron he'd set aside some time for them to hang out with Mabosstiff, Arven heads out on the aquarium grounds with Mabosstiff in tow. Of course, anyone else is welcome to come hang as well! Arven brought a bunch of toys for Mabosstiff to play with, including his Poke ball.

There are also snacky foods and drinks from the fast food restaurant set out on a picnic blanket in case anyone gets hungry. Gotta stay on brand, after all.]

3 - sleepover

[After the day's festivities—presumably party games as well—it's finally time to wind down and get comfy. Arven has changed into his PJs and settled into his mound of blankets and pillows. He needs a lot of them, as Mabosstiff is here too...and he'll be asking Mafuyu to join them.

There's still time for chatter before everyone turns in for the night, so he'll strike up conversations with others in his neck of the sleeping area.]

Did you have fun today?

[It sure as heck has been a nice change of pace...]

4 - wildcard

( it's only natural that at the end of the night, they will be side by side if not outright cuddled together as has become the norm very quickly recently, but she'd be lying if she said she wasn't especially excited to see arven's reaction to the different tanks, so she trails beside him hand in hand. )

... Are they really that different? ...Well, I suppose there's a lot here. The jellyfish tanks are especially nice to watch.

I dunno how to put it but, like...I just think you'd be able to tell a fish Pokemon from the fish here. [He taps at his chin with his free hand.] Maybe it's in the eyes? Fish Pokemon are mostly kinda big, too...

[Mafuyu mentioning the jellyfish draws his eyes over to the tank in the distance.]

They are! And there's waaay more species than I've ever seen of jellyfish Pokemon.

Really? ... I wonder why. Do you not have jellyfish like these...?

( ... but then how would he know to call them jellyfish pokemon... )

[Please don't think too deeply about real world/Pokemon world term-sharing--]

We sort of do? Jellicent looks the closest to these, but different at the same time. For one thing, they've got a face. And they're huuuuuge. Like, big enough to ride on if you needed to get across the water and didn't have a boat. But they don't come in too many colors and shapes like these jellies.

( she almost asks the same question... but decides against it and instead links their arms together as she leans against him. )

Theres a lot of variety... like the immortal jellyfish. I like moon jellyfish, they're small, cute, and safe to touch.

[Oh, this feels so nice... He smiles down at her.]

Wow, really? [That gives him a fun idea.] D'you think they have a jellyfish petting station here?

There are. There's also a large pool where we can pet young nurse sharks and various rays!

There are even sharks to pet? Wow, this place really is full of surprises!

...Have you been over there yet?

Not today. But, Aerith brought me here a few weeks ago. It's how we found out about the ability to rent the place out for the night, we've been working on it since. Surprise!

So that's the story! Heh, you girls really picked a good spot. This place is great! Definitely memorable for a first ever sleepover, too.

Whaddya say to checking out the petting area again? Hopefully it hasn't lost its luster yet...?

I want to.

( also who gets sick of petting sharks? honestly. )

Then it's a plan! Let's go see those jellies and friends.

[She might have to lead him so he doesn't spend ages trying to find it...]

( don't worry, she's more than happy to take him by the hand and lead the way. and with just braphine's chosen here, it's quiet and peaceful- no crowds to push through or excited chatter drowning them out. it really feels like just the two of them. )

Okay.

[Going here on any other day is going to feel so inferior in comparison now. But that's okay- they'll always have the memory to look back on. He savors the sights as they make their way to their destination. Though more often than not he finds his eyes on Mafuyu, taking in how she looks while bathed in the gentle blues of the aquariums around them.]

( when she notices him watching her, she blushes a bit but tries to keep focus on the way there. their destination is warmly lit, with the wide pool of nurse shark pups and ray pups taking up most of it, but there's also a series of smaller touch tanks of different fish as well, and the start of the tropical fish section begins with a few tanks in this room as well.

ambient music plays, and it's nice. )

--Oh! You can also feed the shark and ray pups. We just have to talk to one of the attendants.

[Thank goodness it's dog ~~therapy~~ playtime and Atem is far, far away from the displays. That definitely doesn't bother him any more than not knowing if he should go hangout with the adults or the teenagers. Though he sorta has a better idea of where he belongs now. Kinda?? He's leaning more towards Arven and the others, even if in his own head Arven is a kid.

He saw Mabosstiff a few times at the dorm and their various restaurant outings, but never really up close. Up close, Atem realizes... Well... Well...]

Woah... You're a big boy!

Mabosstiff's head dwarfs both his hands! But he tries to give him ample pets anyway.]

[Mabosstiff will happily accept all pets! But after a bit of it, he reaches down to pick up a toy with his mouth and hold it before Atem. Play with him!!]

[Eh? Eh? He takes the toy Mabosstiff holds him. A large grin plastered on his face.]

How good are you at fetch?

[Because he's rearing his arm back to throw the toy... and throws! Except not really. The toy is still in his hand.

Will Mabosstiff catch his clever ruse?]

[To Mabosstiff, that's the oldest trick in the book! He carefully follows Atem's hand, and though he certainly acts like he's going to take off after the false throw, he ultimately stays put.

He droops down into a playful stance and barks. Throw it for real this time!!]

Aha! You're a clever one.

[And now it's a proper throw! Though it doesn't go very far (10).]

[Eh, it'll do! Mabosstiff happily trots after it.

In the meantime, Arven enters the scene.]

Looks like you two are having fun.

[Hell yeah. Last week definitely Happened but he is here to give all the pets to Mabosstiff. This obviously isn't his first time handling a dog (or rather, a 'dog'), but in fairness, it is his first time seeing one this big.]

So, how 'bout it? I'm way better at this than Arven, right?

[he's so confident in how he gives pets. so confident!!!]

[While Mabosstiff seems plenty satisfied with the pets, Arven obviously takes offense!!]

Tch, you wish. No one knows Mabosstiff's preferences better than me! Right, bud?

[Woof. Arven takes the immediate response as confirmation and puffs out his chest.]

Hah! See?

Heh, that's 'cause I've just gotten started! Bet you he'll change his mind before the night's over.

[He would super lose this bet but Aaron being Aaron totally thinks he could win this.]
