[The weather continues to rage as the adventurers continue to climb, and they can all see that oh-so clearly with the large windows that begin halfway up the lighthouse. Lightning flashes too close to the lighthouse for comfort one too many times, illuminating everything for a moment-- and things that aren't immediately obvious to the human eye. Yoon and Soujuurou both see figures during these flashes, corpses of monsters hanging from various support beams and even the railings of the stairs everyone has been running on. How did anyone miss all of that carnage?
And how did everyone manage to avoid that umbrella sticking out of some of the debris? Nevermind, Haruka has it now, but while it's clearly a modern, full-sized umbrella in dark blue, nice and functional, it's oddly heavy by the standards of a normal human adult. McGillis may recognize it, however. Joshua gets his wish though, scrounging a lantern from a semi-collapsed tent, and upon closer inspection, it hasn't been used yet, the candle hasn't melted one bit.
The scorch marks that Celeste has been seeing start to taper off halfway up the staircase, and Argenti will be able to take note of them. Arven on the other hand may just see that the algae is getting more luminescent the further up the group goes, and Aaron will note some grimy footprints on the stairs, several pairs of them, belonging to different people. Many have managed to come here, apparently. Maybe?
But here's something that will not escape anyone's attention: Everyone will now be able to hear that odd singing.
At the top of the staircase, characters will find the the door to the control room, closed but not locked. The singing ends. The supernatural light that defied physics darkens until only a sliver of it is visible underneath the large steel door that seems to be more suited to a bunker than a lighthouse. Fray notes that the door has a faded label in the same script as the bangle in Soujuurou's hand, but who can read Latin nowadays?
Get ready. Step inside. You worked hard to get here.]
[ ooc: end of exploration! congrats!!!! digest all this info, no need to roll. ]
We're surrounded by corpses of...I don't know what they are. I've never seen animals like that.
[ he's never really thought of the word monster. for someone like him who was raised in the mountains, he knows there's so many animals he's never seen, so to him, they might as well just be that. ]
[An umbrella? Well, that's better than finding nothing, even if the weight of it is weird. It gets him to stop yelling at Arven and Soujuurou for the time being, at least, as he frowns at the umbrella.]
Why is this so heavy...?
[Who needs a weighted umbrella??? Does it make it so it doesn't flap over when it's super windy???]
END...?

He also hates that he hears the singing now! Good thing he's not alone, but yikes! Everything is creepy and he regrets coming here suddenly.
He says under his breath, but loud enough for others to hear: ]
... Who does this even belong to??
no subject
Argenti isn't certain way to say of all this just yet, but he will make a remark himself: ]
...I'm not entirely sure.
But, we will likely find out soon.

[ Emphasis on awful, yeah. ]
So many corpses...and that song – nothing's right in here.
no subject
...Yes, nothing at all.
[ What kind of state of mind are they dealing with...? Evidently corrupted, but still...it does make him wonder with a proper amount of concern. ]

[ the fuck is that???? soujuurou doesn't stop running, but his face is definitely pale with shock as he sees those corpses.
those things look horrifying...but if they're dead, that means that something even worse killed them. ]
What killed them...?

What? Killed??

They became prey.

[Arven doesn't even know what to say to that. All he can do is shine his flashlight around to try to see for himself.
He almost drops it when the beam of light passes over a monster corpse. His other hand clamps over his mouth to stifle a scream.]

[ And boy he hopes he's wrong. Hi. He sees those corpses, too. ]

[Big talk coming from Sayaka, but--]
If it's managed to do this much, then...we're going to need to keep our guard up. Right...?
no subject
[ Because. Yikes! ]

[ he looks at the others, and feels somewhat sick to his stomach. he wants to run. ]
To think that this is someone's mind... we have to help them.

An umbrella? What are these things supposed to even be for?

This singing...it's...
[It's pretty. It feels so damn WRONG. Sayaka barely even notices it stop, but she's...
...She's doing her best to steel herself.]
...This doesn't seem like it's going to end well.
no subject
Perhaps not.
Let us be prepared best we can for what will soon be upon us.
[ Likely to be a battle, but he is confident in his ability to perform to the best of his ability. He already has his spear ready. ]

...For what it's worth, she does trust him. It makes her resolve tighten, and she nods her head.]
Let's get in there and do our best, Argenti-san.

Prepare for a confrontation. Stay toward the middle of the group if you aren't confident in your ability to fight.
[Combatants, are you ready??]
no subject
I'll support as best as I can.
no subject
Thank you. I'm sure it will prove useful.
no subject
...A very good point.
We are all likely to face something rather unpleasant and strong soon enough.
[ Either way, Argenti sure is ready to fight... ]

Let's see what we'll be facing, then.
