[ With the regression of the city, working at Sunset Theater has quickly become less enjoyable than it used to be. Though the cast remembers the rapport McGillis had built with them, even if they're more standoffish now. And it's not as though McGillis had placed much stock in his interpersonal relationships to the random citizens, but... the shift in atmosphere serves as a tangible reminder. That this is temporary. That this world is susceptible to insane levels of mind manipulation. That he wants to leave.
Leave and... do what? That's the question that has haunted McGillis for weeks now, and the countdown is mercilessly continuing. Soon Braphine will release them from her hold, one way or another. Soon, he'll have to know. And so will everyone else. ]
Just a little over two weeks until we're free from this, if Braphine really keeps her word and the God of Conflict doesn't swallow up all her power. Until then we'll doubtlessly face a number of additional challenges and hassles, but while we're still in the quiet before the storm...
Are you going home to your own worlds after this? Or will you take Braphine up on her offer and come along with one of your 'bonds'? What is your world like? What is making you return? What is making you abandon it?
And if you're like me and cannot return to where you came from no matter what, maybe the answers can give you some perspective.

...Whether I actually make a decision I regret when the time comes remains to be seen, of course, but such is life.

Going back to your world no matter what is likely the comfortable choice, but we've both learned comfortable is not necessarily the best for us, haven't we?

[He's certain going with Mafuyu would be comfortable - whether she went to her own world or to Paldea with Arven (and in either case having a Trusted Adult present would do her well--)]
But you are correct that comfortable may well not be the for the best. Why close doors which we've only just discovered?
[And then there's the obvious - he could go with Eli into the post-apocalypse, which would very much not be comfortable, but... they're both dramatic enough to fill in the untyped implications with poetic nonsense about love making hardships light.
No need to plaster that all over a public post, thank you very much.]

[ It also means cutting yourself off from everyone else by default. A solitary soul who cannot connect to anybody has little to worry about socially.
McGillis still longs to return to it. Keeping people at arm's length, only touching the comfort they could provide with his fingertips... Just warm enough so he doesn't freeze. ]

[Aubrey's. Arven's. Hell, maybe even Izou's if "can just hang out in chaldea and vibe" would be a viable option.
But that would mean actively not cutting themselves off from these new important connections. The temptation is still there for him as well, certainly, but...
Well. Neither of them will be able to get away with that, so it isn't worth considering.]
